Detection Not Working?

Hello friends, this is my first post after years of reading posts I am finally stumped lol. Perhaps someone might have seen this issue before...

Here's what's going on. I have a powershell script that does a very customized installation. It is an Application in SCCM with a detection method of a few registry keys. I have tested the script several times on a test machine and it works fine. If i want to make the script download and run again, I clear the ccmcache, remove the registry key that should be detected and the software center downloads the content and runs it again.

i just deployed this same application to about 60 computers. Over the next couple of days, the deployment report shows that over 60% of the computers are "already compliant". The others installed with no problems. This is not possible because the detection method looks for a custom registry key that is created by the powershell script. i connected to several PCs to find that the registry key was not even there at all, yet software center says that application is "installed". Whats really strange is that the appdiscovery log lacks any reference to the application. i've tried reinstalling the CCMEXEC client. I've tried deleting and redeploying the application. I've tried running deleting the cache and the appdiscovery log, rerunning the application eval cycle. the log gets recreated. no reference to the application. all the while, the software center shows the application is installed. And the script has never even run once.

Baffled.  Thanks.
