Hi,

We have a packages that is deployed via sccm to a lot of users.
Although I have deployed an uninstall, some users appear to still have the package/uninstall was unsuccesfull.

If I logon with administrator I cannot see any package (Get-AppvClientApplication).
How do I see all packages and force a removal for a certain package for ALL users?

Deployment to Softwarecenter.

Hello! Im trying to deploy two programs and one application to computers via softwarecenter. I made a new collection so that every device with PC in the name gets added to that collection. This works fine and ive got this far. Thus there are some computers that does'nt get added, but i dont think this is what causes the problem.

Ill get to the point... The deployments shows up in softwarecenter of all the computers in the collection until a co'worker of mine was about to test. It did'nt show up. I checked the computername and it wasnt in the collection. So i thought that was the problem, and simply added it. It did not work... I have now made a new collection containing only that specific computer and deployed the same programs and app to that collection. Still no luck...

Anyone got any tips i could try?

Regards!

Good Day All.

I would like to create a Software Baseline of 14 apps in SCCM 2012 R2, then run a compliance report against that baseline to check how many clients are compliant to that software, so that i can know we need to update x amount of clients to run the baseline software, Now the million dollar question is how do i go about to get this process up and running? I have asset intelligence up and running as well.

Issues with Application Deployement

Hi All,

I am deploying an application such as "Winzip & Adobe, etc.." they get installed to user without any permission issue, however if I deploy "MS Office" or "MS SQL" or other big application they ask for local admin rights and fails the installation with access denied, I know that for MS office and SQL need local admin rights to install, however I also know that from SCCM we can let the end user install such application without giving additional permission.

Please correct me if I am wrong, I need help on this.

Thanks,

Ritesh Hegde.

Application Count of installed applications

$

I am trying to put together a Report or Query that will list all the software on the workstations under Add or Remove.

There is a report that comes with SCCM 2012 called "Count all instances of software registered with Add or Remove Programs" This does the job, but it lists for all of MS office applications. Rather then just Office 2010 SP1. This report bring up over 115k for Office 2010. So I am assuming it picked up Word, PowerPoint etc.. Just want a report that will show me the count of how many people are using Office 2010, and other application out in the field with the correct name of the applications.

I am not quiet up to par in creating queries as of yet, work in progress. As anyone come up a report that does something like this.

Just tried the report called "Count all inventoried products and versions" ProductName says "Microsoft Windows Operating System" 12.0.7600.16385 count 5771.

Any help on this would be great, thank you.

How hard is it to set Application deployment to Client Local by default also? We had a mishmash when UTC was use on deployment and Client Local for Maintenance Window. For consistencies sake maybe..

Hello,

I have created an application Deployment of Internet explorer 11.

in the deployment of the application i unchecked  the " System Restart".

Although of all that ,the user still get "Force" restart at the end of the deployment (installation).

There is any explanation to that Restart Action ?

Application Catalog Machine Certificate Renewal causes errors - how I fixed it

$

Hey Guys,

My Application Catalog had been chugging along nicely for the past 11 months or so, until this morning. It began displaying the "Cannot Connect to Application Server" error.

I saw the corresponding log(s) in the server log (Logs from a day ago, showed proper functionality and count=1):

[55, PID:4828][12/04/2013 08:48:48] :FindCertificate - Found certs via FindByThumbprint, count = 0

[55, PID:4828][12/04/2013 08:48:48] :FindCertificate - No matching certs found

[55, PID:4828][12/04/2013 08:48:48] :DefaultApplicationOfferService - opening channel via client proxy

[55, PID:4828][12/04/2013 08:48:48] :The client certificate is not provided; this could cause errors when the web site attempts to communicate with the web service. The certificate thumbprint in the web.config did not match any cert in the SMS cert store.

[55, PID:4828][12/04/2013 08:48:48] :System.InvalidOperationException: The client certificate is not provided. The certificate thumbprint in the web.config did not match any certificate in the SMS cert store.

Eventually, I traced this back to the Server's machine certificate (verses "client", as stated in the log, this lead me astray for awhile) autoenrolled/autorenewed last night, as it was expiring in a month or two. While IIS kept using the "renewed" cert (as I expected it to) For whatever reason, IIS, Windows, SCCM, or whatever (in my opinion "should have" ) never updated the "CertificateThumbprint" values in the Web.Config files for CMApplicationCatalog and CMApplicationCatalogSVC which look to have been set at initial install.

I had to manually update these values in both Web.Config files with the "new" thumbprint for this cert. After doing this, and restarting IIS, it began working immediately.

My question is, is this expected behavior? a bug? am I doing something incorrectly in my autoenroll/renew settings?

Application still trying to run after deleting deployment

I have an application with several dependencies and one of those dependencies has a detection method that is not behaving properly so the application keeps trying to run/looping which is expected but instead of fixing the detection method, I decided to delete the deployment and now after 3 days after deleting the deployment, the client continues to re-run the application. I have refreshed polices and rebooted the client yet it still continues to run the application. Let me guess...that is by design?

SCCM 2012 R2 - Application Export fails if Source has been updated

$

0

Hi,

We are currently provisioning a CM12 R2 environment.  Our solution spans multiple disconnected (secure) environments and hence requires export/import of objects created in the Integration environment into Test and Production environments.

We've hit upon an issue which I think is the same as this one:  http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/8365bf61-ed85-430d-8761-d213aa295ced/action?threadDisplayName=sccm-2012-r2-quotthe-export-application-wizard-completed-with-errorsquot

Unfortunately the OP of that issue worked around and never got to the bottom of the issue.  Summary of the problem follows:

1) We create an application that has complex source (i.e. Office 2013)

2) If we immediately export this application it exports fine

3) If we have to make any changes to the application (i.e. adding new files to the source such as scripts) and therefore create additional revisions the application fails to export - error message indicates one of the nested folders as the cause of the failure because it is not a file

4) We can recreate the issue on demand and with different applications - definitely not a permissions issue

5) If we revert to an earlier revision (before the source was updated) then the export succeeds, even though the actual source directory now contains different files

It looks very much like there is a bug in R2 (we've also applied CU1 and confirmed the problem remains) which is causing something within the content library to get messed up when source is updated.  We have a customer running CM12 SP1 (not R2) and this behaviour cannot be recreated, so seems to be an issue introduced in R2.  Does anyone else have this problem?

For now we are able to workaround the issue by recreating the application once all source code updates have been completed, but this is adding lots of overhead to the process.

Thanks

Bandwith limit for software distribution

Hello,

I have a location with a small bandwith (WAN) to our main Office. If a client starts to download the required software, all other clinets have problems to work with the ERP System in our main office.

Is their a option to Limit the bandwith with which the clients download their Software?

Failed to initiate a system reboot - Client gets command but stuck at shutdown

Hi everyone. I am using SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard. I am having an issue with a Task sequence seeming not beeing able to complete a "Restart Computer" Task. Some Clients get stuck at the shutdown - after a built-in reboot was initialized - at the message "stop Services".

After days of log-watching and googling I finally decided to ask that question. I can't find an accordance between the Clients except a message out of the statusmessagedetails telling me that a component triggered an exception which couldn't be processed, SOURCE advanced Client ("Agent got terminated immediately")

Componentname: UnknownModule

Client-Version: different, some older, some latest.

The next entry is that the TSMGR could not execute a tasksequence successfully - unknown Interface. I think that happens when relevant wmi-services already got stopped and the Agent could not finalize the reboot command. I could not read out any Information out of the Event logs.

Scenario: Maintenance Window is configured from 12 to 5 am. Mostly around 12:15 am starting the maintenance TS running a script forcing a check for latest Windows Updates via WSUS, rebooting the Client, checking Client configuration and so on. No Problem on Clients with no other deployments. Mostly These machines have a second or a third deployment in the Queue.

Here is a cut from the SMSTS.log of an affected machine:

Hello,

I was reviewing some of our app deployment today and i was shocked to find that one of them ( App-v 5SP3 MSI) is reporting 99% error rate in the deployment monitoring feedback chart, however there was nothing listed under ERROR, i i run the Report Application infrastructure errors and i have several thousand system reporting that " The CI version info data is not available" there was also several other CI related errors ( i have listed them all bellow). i have verified that the software is still on and still working fine, i just think the reporting status process has broken, did a Google did find some other complain of the issue but not managed to find a fix and to understand the root, has anybody got a VERY low risk ideas on how to fix the reporting without redeployment of the app ?

sccm 2012r2

Or should I check these boxes; see below

Problem with Java 1.8 update 31 deployment

$

0

It seems like I have to re-invent my SCCM Java deployment process each and every time Oracle comes out with a new update. I am currently attempting to deploy Java 1.8 update 31 and am having little luck. While this is an SCCM-centric question I am still in the testing process prior to actually deploying the software. I getting an installation error as follows with the 32-bit installation:

MSI (s) (50:CC) [11:52:09:663]: Product: Java 8 Update 31 -- Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action installexe, location: C:\Windows\Installer\MSI79FF.tmp, command: /s INSTALLDIR="C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_31\\" WEB_JAVA=1 REPAIRMODE=0

The installer creates the installation directory and copies the files but the installation ultimately fails with the generic 1603 error.

The command line that I am using to install Java is being passed through Powershell Deployment Toolkit as:

Execute-MSI-Actioninstall-Path"jre1.8.0_31.msi"-Parameters"JU=0 JAVAUPDATE=0 AUTOUPDATECHECK=0 RebootYesNo=No WEB_JAVA=1 /q"

Which I tested manually as:

msiexec.exe /I "jre1.8.0_31.msi" JU=0 JAVAUPDATE=0 AUTOUPDATECHECK=0 RebootYesNo=No WEB_JAVA=1 /q

When manually run the install completes just fine without complaint so I know the switches are correct and are fully functional. I have even run the actual .com installer using just the "/s SPONSORS=0" arguments and that works just fine too when run manually.

I have never had an issue where a command line that works when run manually under and admin context won't work when run through Powershell. I read through the related thread at: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/enterprise-software/143767-java-8-update-25-silent-install-via-sccm-8.html however it doesn't seem to come to a definitive conclusion as to what could be done. I am not using config files as I have never had the need to before (passing the switches always worked until now). I am also able to completely uninstall all previous versions of Java using the Remove-MSIApplications PDT commandlet (which also works fine if I manually install 1.8 u 31 before running the PDT process again).

I am just getting fed up with the mess that is Java. It would be nice if there was simply some consistency and predictability within these version. If anyone can provide insight I would really appreciate it.

Chris

Syntax for a package's program's additional requirements

I've tried searching around to find an answer to this question without much luck. I'm trying to determine what I can set using the Additional requirements field on the requirements tab of a standard package program in SCCM 2012. There are checkboxes for OS versions and a little Additional requirements field on the bottom. Is it possible to use a wmi query to verify that the system is a Dell vs a Lenovo?
