SCCM 2012 R2 DP - Reserve Disk Space issue

Hi Team,

Issue with SCCM 2012 DP. Reserve Disk space issue.
During DP installation I have given 100000 MB as Reserve disk space, now my DP Share drive reached below 97 GB of free space, now I’m unable to distribute packages to the DP.

Below is the error Message in Smsdpprov.log
Failed to find space for 105874160 bytes.

Solution tried:

Tried changing the reserve disk space value in Registry (HKLM- Software – Microsoft – SMS- DP- ReservedDiskSpace), But the value is getting auto reset to old value after a restart.

Is there any way where I could change the Reserve disk space without reinstalling the DP Role?

Software Metering Properties greyed out

Hello,

I'm trying to configure automatic software metering rule generation, however, the Software Metering Properties button under Software Metering -> Home -> Settings is greyed out.  Software Metering is enabled in the Device Settings that are deployed.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Client Setting: PowerShell Execution Policy - Bypass

I am trying to setup an application that will install RDC and BITS using powershell and the ServerManager module.  I have set the PowerShell execution policy to Bypass.  From the deployment I am runningpowershell.exe -file .\script.ps1.  This does not seem to work.  If I change the command topowershell.exe -ExecutionPolicy ByPass -file .\script.ps1 then that seems to work.  Can someone explain how this client setting referenced below is supposed to work?  I assumed that setting this to "Bypass" would allow the PowerShell script to run without having to customize the command line.  Also what about the powershell scripts that can be used to determine if an application is already installed?

PowerShell execution policy

When you select Bypass, the Configuration Manager   client bypasses the Windows PowerShell configuration on the client computer   so that unsigned scripts can run. When you selectRestricted, the   Configuration Manager client uses the current Windows PowerShell   configuration on the client computer, which determines whether unsigned   scripts can run.

This option requires at least Windows PowerShell version   2.0 and the default isRestricted.

Would a pending reboot hold back the next installation of a deploy Application using either the Application/Program method?

I am getting the following error in the AppEnforcement.log

Supersede App-V 5.0 SP2 applications deployed originally via task sequence

$

Hello,

I'm trying to test a supersedence for an application that originally was deployed via task sequence when the operating system is deployed to the client, without reimaging the client itself. I've conducted the following steps to try and get this to work:

1. Application A was deployed via task sequence and now has a copy, which I'll call Application A2.

2. In Application B I've setup the supersedence rule with the old deployment type being A2 and the replacement deployment type being Application B, with the uninstall check box enabled as well. I've set the deployment of Application B to a device collection with my test client in. I specified A2 because I'm assuming that the live version A would supersede all clients, regardless of collections specified, and obviously I want to test before the live environment.

3. In software centre on the test client in available software Application B is listed with the status "past due - will be updated", showing the latest version I want to supersede with. However when trying to install it instantly fails. I've pulled up the log for AppDiscovery.log with cmtrace and found the following line.

"+++ Did not detect app deployment type Adobe_Reader_11.0.10_01 - Microsoft Application Virtualization 5(ScopeId_B88C7C83-8BD7-4E0C-84FB-734DB5AF3194/DeploymentType_ee26ebc6-ec62-4cf2-8341-867e95edc7ae, revision 11) for system. AppDiscovery 19/03/2015 14:12:39 1272 (0x04F8)" "

(I didn't want to flood this topic with loads of lines, is there a way to attach logs?)

In the AppEnforce.log I noticed it states this line.

The package with GUID 83ae1846-a3fc-448a-8cec-0848e560d3cc is not installed on this machine yetAppEnforce19/03/2015 09:32:491980 (0x07BC)

I deployed A2 on its own, after removing Application A which was done by task sequence, and checked the PackageID and it is exactly the same as the one deployed through the task sequence. I re-added the supersedence rule back so that Application B is to supersede the A2 that just installed, and again it has failed to update and asking to retry.

In CMTRACE two lines have now highlighted:

Cannot uninstall deployment type ScopeId_B88C7C83-8BD7-4E0C-84FB-734DB5AF3194/DeploymentType_4867b86f-060b-4a85-8393-1bea743de20c. Am I setting up supersedence correctly at all? Is it possible to supersede an application that was originally deployed via task sequence, without a reimage and amendment to the task sequence? OR am I missing something ridiculously obvious.

Much appreciated for your time,

Ollie

Run installation and uninstallation program as 32 bit process on 64 bit clients

A silly question but need some more explanation...Can anybody elaborate what this option means and in what conditions this can be used? Does this has to checked all the time?

Run installation and uninstall program as 32-bit process on 64-bit clients

: Use the 32-bit file and registry locations on Windows-based computers to run the installation program for the deployment type.

Application is downloaded from Application Catalog and then installation fails

Hi,

Application Catalog was working fine. We did some configuration changes on certificates, IIS and Client Settings today. I then noticed Application Catalog was not working installing applications. I tried to restore my old configuration. Now I can list applications on Application Catalog, I can send request and download application but installation fails. Strangely, I can install SAP package (not an application) on the same client but MS Office, Visio, Project applications can not be installed. What should I check? Thanks.

SCCM 2012 R2- update different versions of adobe reader

$

Planning to push the most current adobe reader to several users.

The problem is different versions of older adobe reader is already installed on the machines.

So my question is how do I go about removing the older versions from the machines and install the most current one?

If I have to create a package for each adobe version, that would be very tedious. Please let me know if there is any other way.

thanks

Newbie questions - application deployment not working

$

Hi

I'm running SCCM 2012 r2 (no CU's yet but I'm just downloading #4). Everything appears normal for a new setup and there are no errors reporting in any of the status lists. Discovery, boundaries, AD schema has been extended and the System Manager AD container (and permissions) set up.

All domain PCs and users are listed in Assets. I have created a device collection to roll out test applications based on membership of an AD security group which has picked up the correct membership for that group (a single computer).

I have created an msi to test application deployment (all it does is drop a test file into the windows folder) and tested that manually installing it with msiexec /i /q options on a test PC.  I have created the application, deployment type and deployment for the test msi and confirmed that the application has been deployed to the distribution point.

And then... nothing happens.  I've checked the Monitoring\Deployments view and nothing is reported for the application (i.e. after selecting the application I have a grey pie chart with zero for all entries).  I've checked the report "Client push installation status details" and it reports an error (Last error = 5), 4 retries and  status of "retry" but no details of what's going on (and I can't find any log files which might tell me).

Any assistance would be massively appreciated - despair is setting in!

Thanks in advance

Martin

Set Fast Retry Interval

$

Hello,

Maybe I am missing something obvious, but it appears that in SCCM 2012, the Fast Retry interval varies from computer to computer and usually takes a few hours to initiate again.  In 2007, it was always a predictable 10 minute interval.  Is there any way to modify the interval in 2012 so that it will always be at a certain time?  I hate having to wait so long when testing to confirm it is working correctly.

Before you tell me to use the PSExec tool, I already know about it and do use it, but it doesn't "fully" test the SCCM environment as I have had several scripts that don't run the same.

EXE Application not able to deploy via System Center

$

I'd like to make available the Real Player (called Real Player Cloud now.) I've manually setup the application since it's an EXE install with just "setup.exe" no switches and just "setup.exe /uninstall" for the uninstall portion. When I try to run the app from System Center on a Windows 7 desktop (logged in as a local admin), it prompts for whether I want it to install a desktop icon, etc... then it fails with:

"The software change returned error code 0x87D00324 (-2016410844)"

I've googled it and one of the suggestions was the change the method of determining if it was installed. I changed it from Folder to Registry, but no luck. I've also tried to use /silent, but got same error.

If I copy that setup.exe directly to the workstation it prompts for desktop icon, etc... then install fine.

Here is a few lines from my AppDiscovery log file on the client:

Has anyone ran into this isssue.  I am having the problem described in this link.  I ran the fix with no help.

http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrdogs/archive/2014/07/08/application-catalog-failed-application-installation-not-started.aspx

This is happening on a small number of devices.  This has just started since I have upgraded to R2 CU4, was not happening before.

Error on the server:

Update an APPX App with SCCM 2012 R2

$

Hi,

When I update an APPX app, the app has to be closed to successfully update the app with SCCM. With a package, you can force the installation to kill the application, or ask the user to close the application. With SCCM and APPX apps, it's not possible. The update will just fail when the app is still opened. I couldn't find an option like "Run script X before the update" so I can force the app to close or ask the user to close the app.

Is there a possibility to force the app to close or ask the user to close it before the update process starts? Or do I have to create a package for this instead of using the "Application" possibilities in SCCM?

Thank you.

JPvR

SCCM 2012 R2 "The Export Application Wizard completed with errors!"

Hi All,

For certain application's where the Source media (a scripted application Package) is big with multiple folders and sub-folder's. I get an error while exporting them from SCCM 2012 R2. (we export and import applications between two environments)

Any idea why this is happening.

It looks something like this in the Export Application Wizard: (Error: The target file "C:\....\..\ is a directory. not a file.)

Thanks for the Suggestions!

7zip Removal Not Working

$

Hello,

I have been able to  remove the 7-zip  from almost all the systems in the environment, however there are still a good amount of chunk which has the software present.

What I have noticed is that, the WMIC command I have been using to delete the 7zip is no longer working on the pending systems. I have tested it on 2-3 systems and when ran, it comes up as "No Instance(s) Available."

I could clearly see that the 7zip is installed under Add/Remove but WMIC is not detecting it.

Used the command to check the software on a particular system WMIC /node:MINDTESTVM product get name

This returns all the software but for some reasons is not detecting the 7zip.

The another method to uninstall is using the command "C:\Program Files\7-Zip\Uninstall.exe", but this asks for another step as below, so is not able to execute remotely as this gets stuck on this step.

There are no Uninstall string as for other software in registry, the only entry contains the uninstall string which is mentioned above.

1) Why is it not able to find the software installed using WMIC when it has done for other systems

2) How could I remove 7zip from remaining systems please ?

Thanks

Issues deploying applications via a Task List

I am trying to install a group of 4 applications via a task list, I also have program required to run prior to the task executing.  The program itself is just a pop up warning of an automatic reboot.  I can deploy the program and the 4 applications individually just fine.  If I run a task list of the 4 applications without running the Program first, it works as well.  However, if I set the Task list to always run a program first, it seems to fail, not always, but always on the same machines. I get the following in the execmgr log.

I tried adding the program to the task list but for some reason when I add the Package I get a blank program drop down box.

I just recently successfully upgraded to 2012 R2 CU4, but I had the same issue when running CU3. I checked the location logs, an it is reporting to the correct MP.

Hi,

I have created some applications in SCCM 2012 but they don't appear in the Software Center on the workstations/laptops. When clicking on "find additional applications from the application catalog" they do appear and i can install/uninstall them. When installing they appear in Software Center.

How can i solve this so they appear in the Software Center? Thnx!

How to see when an application was installed on clients?

Hi, I have a question about how to retrieve information about an unwanted deployment.

We have a software that is deployed on a collection for like 3 years.

Then someone mistakenly added the All System Collection to that collection last week.

We did track down the change and have the exact time of that modification but many computers got the deployment.

The All System collection was removed ASAP but now we need to know how many client computers received the deployment or at least find how many computers received that software from last week.

Is there a report for this kind of situation?

The only way I did find to display the status of the deployment was to Retire the application, then add the All System collection again to have some data but there is no way I can get when the deployment occur on those computers.

Thank you!
