Set and application's dependency to be a update from windows update

Hi I am trying to deploy the App-v 5 Client to some machines and even though I have packages the C++ updates and set as a required update there are still some computers that don't have it when I try to deploy it. Is there a way in SCCM 2012 SP1 to set the dependency for the App-V Client to check for specific windows updates????????

Application removal

Hi,

I just wondered, when i delete a running deployment of one application.. does this action causes a program removal every where it was installed..?

I mean the delete of a deployment- is just to stop a future deployment? or it have another meanings?

Scenario:

MSI 1 installs (Plugin for SQL Management Studio)
It installs prior to SQL Management Studio (Different problem)

For the plugin to work, it needs to be installed after SQL Management Studio, anyway to rerun MSI 1 on clients?

In 2007 it was easy, with the application model in 2012 - its not!?

Return Codes in Application

Hi all!

For testing purposes, I added return code 1602 in the "Return Codes" tab of a deployement type and added "User cancel installation" as name and description. What else I have to do to read this description in the Software Center? When starting the Application installation and cancelling it, I'm able to see the error code by clicking on "Failed" in the status bar of the Software Center, but the AppEnforce.log shows "Unmatched exit code (1602) is considered an execution failure".  In my opinion it is not an unmatched exit code, because I defined this error code in the deployment type.

Did I miss anything or is this normal behavior?

How to deploy windows updates automatically using SCCM 2012 ?

Hi

I'd like to know how to deploy critical and security updates automatically using SCCM 2012 as we deploy updates via WSUS by creating automatic deployment rule.

Following is a youtube video about deploying updates using SCCM 2012 and it seems like a manual process of deploying updates.According to this video , it is required to filter the updates manually and then create software group and then deploy to the devices.It means that each time whenever new updates are available, then it is necessary to create a new "deploy software update wizard" and apply to the devices.It looks quiet complicated and manual process to deploy updates.Is there any workaround to deploy these updates automatically ?

How to deploy customised Office 2010 or Office 2013 using SCCM 2012 ?

Hi All

Can anyone please let me know, how to deploy Office 2010 or Office 2013 using SCCM 2012? . I'm following the article below for Office deployment but it seems to me a manual installation but not an automated installation method i.e it requires user to select Office application from System Center and run the installation.

Moving Packages from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012

Looking for some insight into moving a large amount of packages from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012.  We have a CAS and three primary sites globally.  The CAS is in the US and the Primaries are in the US, UK and Canada.  I plan on using the Packages Conversion Manager to move them over, but the question is where do I move them to?  Can I move them to the CAS and redistribute them to the other Distro points (on each Primary site?) or will I have to do them on each site.  I guess the shortest form of the question is: is there a way to move all of my packages to all three distro points from the CAS or can they be distributed from an individual MP?


Evaluation failed - 0x8004100E Invalid namespace

Hello! 

When I try to push out required AppV-application deployments thru software center and sccm 2012 I recieve the error "Evaluation failed - 0x8004100E Invalid namespace" in the monitoring-logs via sccm 2012 console, but just on a few computers, like 10% of the computers I installed recently. 

If I take a look in AppDiscovery.log i found this:

I have not yet found any other logs that indicate any problems with the applications im dealing with.

Unable to remove application

Need some help with a issue i'm looking into...

I have a application that i'm unable to delete. If i try to delete it from the console, i get a message that tells me that there is still a deployment active. However when i look on the deployments-tab there are no deployments. SCCM won't let me remove the application because it thinks there is still a active deployment in place.

So i'm stuck with a application that i cannot remove from the console. Any ideas of what i could do to fix this?

Certain packages not downloading to new distribution point

I have setup a new distribution point and have started to deploy software packages, driver packages and windows image files to it.  Most packages deployed without an issue to this new DP, but certain packages are not getting deployed correct.  The status is stuck in "pending" when I look at the console.  I have found the following error in the DataTransferService.log on the new DP, which appears to be telling me why the package is failing to copy but I'm not sure how to resolve the issue.  I did review WebDav settings and I have reviewed the instructions listed here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc431377.aspx (even though they are for SCCM 2007).  I don't see anything in the applicationhost.config file that would be restricting the transfer of this file.  I have also confirmed that my NTFS permissions on the source share include full access for the computer account of the new DP.

Online guide for "software distribution" in SCCM 2012?

Can any one recommend a good online guide for how to best use SCCM 2012 to continue deploying software, as previously had been done in SCCM 2007 "Software Distribution", e.g witk Pacakges, Programs and Advertisements.

application status report

Hi,

I made a custom backup wizard which is deployed to the client computers as an application.Since this allows the users to re-run it from the sccm software center as long as a condition is not fullfilled...

I would like a report which tells me what the status is for the application.

For packages there is th every usefull report "Status of a specified package and program deployment"  which gives me information about, success, failure, downloaded, unknown, ...

I cannot find a report which tells me the same stuff about an application...Anybody an idea ?

Create and Assign System Variables from command line / APIs

I am trying to automate SCCM provisioning from inhouse IT Portal.  User will input basic values and submits a request.  This job will do following:

1. create a VM

2. Add to SCCM and collection.   

3. Run Task sequence

4. Deploy OS, patches.

I need to create few system variables and pass values to it.  Can someone advice best practices. Are there any API's / command lines to call SCCM? Pl advice.


Redistribute content to Distribution Point w/ Powershell cmdlet

I've gone through all of the new Powershell cmdlets, but still haven't one that will redistribute content (driver package, standard package, application content, etc...) to a single distribution point. Perhaps I've missed something.

I've seen other Powershell scripts that will do the same thing, but I'm hoping that a single cmdlet will queue up a redistribution.

Anyone have any ideas?


error code: "0x87D00324" The application was not detected after installation completed.

I have virtual applications returning this error code "Error code 0x87D00324 (-2016410844)" From what I can see there is no way to set up a detection method on a virtual application deployment type.

When looking at the AppDiscovery.log on the client there are entries stating the following:

"Required Component [Quicktime for example] is not published for machine"
+++AppV Application not discovered for machine [AppDT Id: scopeID_guidsnumbers&letters/deploymentType_moreguidsnumbers&letters, revision: 2, AppV pkg GUID:{guidnumber}, AppV version GUID:{GUIDnumber}. Some required components are not published.

The ContentTransferManager.log contains entries stating "Failed get the value of Content_numberletersGUID.1"

Most of the time the application does make it into the appv client but the SCClient still displays failed status with the same error code saying Pat due will be retried.
The applications are set to stream from DP

All these apps were migrated from 2007 where they worked just fine in that environment.

Reporting on the progress of Application and Package Deployments

Hi, I'm looking to find a way of tracking Application and Package deployments? In SMS and 2007 you go to System Status and view the status of the Advertisement. It was quite handy to see each machine and each stage of the download and install. Or error messages too.

I've had a look the the standard reports (\Monitoring\Overview\Reporting\Reports\Software Distribution - Application Monitoring), but the information is very limited. Particularly in terms of seeing whats times various actions occurred, and what error messages may have resulted on which computers, etc.

I am having issues trouble shooting MAC application issues with the new SCCM 2012 Mac application deployment. in my test group of macs I am seeing applications being installed over and over again, and I am not sure how to configure the detection method tab settings?

anyone else having trouble with this?

deployed software does not change when collections are changed

i am finding when i move a device from one collection which has a list of apps deployed to it those same apps are still showing in software center even though the new collection does not have these applications deployed to it.  How do i make it so when a device is moved from one collection to another the apps shown in software center are only those apps which are deployed to the current collection.

scenario: (Software has been deployed to the collections but not installed on the system)

Computer A is a member of Collection A.  Collection A has Office 2013, adobe reader and Tableau Reader 7 deployed to it.

Computer A has moved departments and as such Computer A is removed from Collection A and moved into Collection B.  Collection B has only Office 2013 deployed to it.

Because Computer A was moved to a new collection it should not be able to access Tableau Reader and Adobe Reader.  However when the device is moved all previously deployed applications are still showing in software center.  

My thoughts are that the only software that should be shown in software center are those which have been deployed to the current collection.  this is not happening as i had wished and all applications are showing even though they have been moved.

I appologize if i have repeated myself but i unsure exactly how to work the case.

Application catalog error - cannot install or request software.

Hi All,

I have installed SCCM 2012 SP1 and configured SCCM APP catalog, i am able to browse the portal from a client machine, the portal shows the application which are deployed but when i send a request for the application and after administrators approval  the the app catalog is not able to download the application and the portal shows"cannot install or request software error message"same is happening with the application without request policy.

What i have tried :-

1. Adding the App catalog URL to the LOCAL Intranet zone.

2.Reinstallation of  Application catalog.

But it shows the same error please help.
