Application deployment oddity

$

Hi all,

I'm having a slight oddity with application deployment within SCCM.  A little while ago we started deploying applications out to user collections which correspond to an active directory security group, if the user is part of that group then they are automatically targeted for application deployment.  That was working fine and we started deploying around a dozen of our apps this way.  Those particular apps still deploy to any new users added into the group to this day.

Any new applications which are now set up the same way DO NOT deploy to the user at all.  The collections themselves update fine and I can see new users added to the AD group added to the collection after a small period of time.  I've tried deleting the deployments and re-doing them from scratch but still no joy.  The applications do not deploy set as required or as available and if I check the appdiscovery or appenforce logs I can't see anything with corresponds to the new deployment.

If I deploy one of these new apps to a device collection, it shows up on the device straight away.  Does anybody have any pointers as to what this could be?

For reference I am using SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 CU1

Many thanks for any assistance,

Tony

Error Codes 1647 and 1605

Hello,

I recently deployed an application package to rollback update KB3114409.  The deployment seemed to work successfully and about 40% of the machines in our company reported a successful completion.  A few of them are 'in progress' because the users still haven't rebooted them.  However a large percentage reported an error, and I can't seem to find out exactly what caused it to fail for them.  The errors are very similar.  When I view the deployment status and look in the error tab, there are only two different errors:

(DEVICE NAME)     (User)                             Message ID            Status Type          Description

name                    NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM    10006                    Error                   1647

name                    NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM    10006                    Error                   1605

I can't seem to find much online about these errors.  All of the computers are similar as for OS's, permissions, etc., and I only use one maintenance window for all of my PCs.  At this point I'm thinking that I'll need to uninstall the patch manually on all of these devices but that would be a massive undertaking.  Any help is appreciated.

Deployment status mismatch

I deployed SCCM 2012 R2 CU1 client side update two months ago.

All clients have been updated to the CU1 verson but in Console:Monitoring-Deployments-R2 CU1-x64 client update,I find one client has been under "in progress" status for almost two months while the update has actually installed correctly on it,this client also has passed health check.

I have tried re-sending status message manually but nothing happened.

How to work out this problem?

Software Center "Install" button greyed-off and not allow re-installation of application

Is there a way to re-activate the Software Centre "Install" button if the application is uninstall using "Control Panel->Programs and Features". In this way, user can uninstall from "Programs and Features" and re-install from "Software Center". Currently Application Catalog "Install" button is always active, but not the case with Software Center "install" button if the application is uninstall from "Control Panel->Programs and Features".

Package is downloading but not installing

Facing issue with package deployment. Autocad package is 6 GB. It is downloading but not installing.

Earlier we have this issue for 1 out of 10 installations. We've browsed around 5 packages in task sequence and only one step(Autocad) is not installing and from last one week, Autocad package is not getting installed for all installations. I can see it is downloading but command will run only for 2-3 seconds and will show as installed.

Separately tried installing as package, I can see complete files are getting downloaded under ccmcache but it is not installing. Manually I'm able to install package in system context.

Deploying Adobe CC ENT and Extension Manager

Hi,

I have created 2 applications; one for Adobe Extension Manager and one for Adobe Creative Cloud. They supercede the previous deployment of Adobe Creative Cloud.

They install, but my problem is that Software Centre doesn't seem to resolve it; it keeps displaying that it is installing.

It is already installed and supercedence works.

I have to have the installation on a long period of time like the default 120 minutes as the application is huge.

the appenforce log shows that it discovers it and it is installed and successful.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Some software in Software Center installing, some not

$

This is a confusing question to articulate, I will try my best.  I had recently cleared up Maintenance Windows, which is encouraging.  My newest question:  I have created an application to be 'available' in software center and have inconsistent results, on the same device and on other devices.   For example, I created, distributed and deployed MS Proj Pro to a device collection where I have a few members.  Some members can 'see' it, others cannot (even with running the machine policy process). And those that can see it, can't always install it, get 'failed to load content'.  So then I remove the deployment, application & collection and recreate everything.  Now, others can see it, others cannot.  Those who couldn't install it before, can now.  It is so inconsistent and confusing.  Some people have to literally wait hours & hours to be able to 'see' the software and for some it shows quite quickly.  I'm really wanting to use Software Center for the amazing controls it offers but am really struggling.  I've checked the Boundaries and found the device IPs are in the allowed IP range.  Are there different areas of boundaries I should check?  Could this be related to our distribution points?  I didn't create the infrastructure, I'm just an admin trying to implement Software Center for software deployment.

A  number of errors are showing in the server logs for a particular user:

Invalid User
User policy requested with no user credentials
Failed to send Location Request Message
GetLocationSyncEx failed with error 0x87d00231

Any ideas?  Sorry for the super long post!

SCCM deployment of IE11 fails despite SCCM saying success

$

Hi.

We're running into an issue with IE11 deployment through SCCM. The IE11 msi has been created using a fairly default IEAK deployment including the prerequirement packages. When deployed using SCCM this package works most of the time, but for some machines SCCM returns a success but Windows still runs IE9, not IE11. If I run Microsoft's Fixit for install/uninstall problems IE11 is detected as present even though control panel still lists IE9 as the currently installed "Update". Also, if we use an SCCM query to identify computers with IE11 using the ARPDisplayname and Product Version these machines display as having IE11 too, even though they don't and "Add/Remove programs" in the control panel says not either.

If I look at the c:\program files\internet explorer files post installation on the problem computers the files remain the same as pre-deployment.

We're confused. Can anybody help?

Deployment issues after SP2 - Deployment time

We moved to SP2 about a month ago. I've had issues with existing "available" deployments install on their own as soon as the collection is updated with new machines added.

Yesterday and made a deployment available at 8am, scheduled\required at 9pm udt. They all ran at 3pm udt.

Ideas? Thanks!

Application Deployment - Make SQL Server 2014 Enterprise SP1 available via Software Centre

Hi Guys

Make SQL Server 2014 Enterprise SP1 available via Software Centre

I'm trying to make SQL Server 2014 Enterprise SP1 available via Software Centre. Not having much luck at the moment.

Found some information online but nothing yet has been concrete.

I literally need to make the software available via Software Centre, and add the computer/user into a collection so they can then download and install the software themselves.

Regards,

Chris.

SCCM Software Metering not working on Endpoints

Hi.

Currently our software metering does not appear to be working. It is configured on the console side. It appears on the workstations something is not working properly.

In the mtrmgr.log file I see the following messages on a constant loop.

InitiatePrepDriver - OpenSCManager Failed with error 8007045b mtrmgr 2015-12-09 11:07:03 AM 11096 (0x2B58)
Failed to create instance of CLSID_ProcessEventProvider, error 80040154 mtrmgr 2015-12-09 11:07:03 AM 11096 (0x2B58)
Failed to create instance of CLSID_SWMtrManager, error 80040154 mtrmgr 2015-12-09 11:07:03 AM 11096 (0x2B58)

In the SWMTRReportGen.log I see the following:

No usage data found to generate software metering report SWMTRReportGen 2015-10-12 2:04:56 AM 6428 (0x191C)

It did appear to work at some point until we did the SCCM upgrade to the current version. So it appears the metering on the machine is failing to start.

Any thoughts on what we can try on the client side?

Hi,

Last day, I had a weird problem with my SCCM and a Client. Some applications has been deployed by themselves.

I don't know why, all these applications are seted to available and not require. I install an applications today on my machine et I'vechecked logfiles. There is line with "<![LOG[Application 7-Zip is being checked...".

And there is no line like this one on the Client computer.

How could it happen ?

Thanks for your help

How to use Application method to run app install as user, not system

$

Bit of a strange one this, in that most people seem to ask the opposite question (e.g.; https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/a92f7713-11c7-45ed-8865-df4c18f60892/how-to-install-application-from-sccm-2012-application-catalog-using-administrator-privilege?forum=configmanagerapps).

I have a command line I want to run as the user, who doesn't have admin rights. Run the command line by hand, all is fine. The command in question will complain (fail!) though if you try and run as an admin/elevated.

Put the command line as a deployment type in an application, and despite setting setting "Install for user" as Installation behaviour on User Experience tab, it still runs as Admin. Naturally, it fails.

If I was to use the Package/Program method then setting Run mode to "Run with user's rights" would enable this, but I want to stick to the App model.

So, what have I missed?
