Hi,

Recently we deployed a bunch of laptops using SCCM (windows 8.1) but having a partial issue with Office 365 via Software Center.

When laptops are within domain:

- Office 365 installs during OSD

- Office 365 installs via Software Center

When laptops are within domain via Direct Access:

- Office 365 downloads but fails at installing.

SCCM - Available application installing automatically for a few PCs

Hello,

I have packaged up Office 2013 as an application and have added Office 2010 as a superseded application. After reading on here, I was able to un-tick the box that states "automatically upgrade any superseded versions of this application" so that it is available and only installs /upgrades when the user clicks "Install" in software center.

It has been going really well but out of 150 computers, 6 automatically uninstalled Office 2010 and installed Office 2013 without the user clicking install at random times over the past couple of days.

I have checked the following logs but it doesn't show why it started the uninstall / re-install. It started the process at 18:00

Detection Method Using %UserProfile% in the Path

$

Hello,

I have written a simple bat file that copies 2 shortcuts to the desktop and I created an application for it so it can be run from the Application Catalog.  Everything works like it should and the shortcuts get copied to the users desktop but I can't get the detection method to work so even though the shortcuts are there the user is told the installation failed.

I assumed I could use %UserProfile%\Desktop and then the name of the shortcut as the file name in the Detection Method but that never detects the shortcut.

If I use the full path of C:\User\username\Desktop and the same file name it does detect it and says the installation completed successfully.

Is it possible to use system variables such as %UserProfile% as part of the path in the detection Methods?

Thanks,

Dustin

PowerShell based package / program- how to return "failure"

$

I've created a package that periodically runs robocopy via a PowerShell script to keep a few files up to date (things like custom powershell modules) on workstations. However, I accidentally forgot to update a file some time ago and it has not worked since. I picked this up and found that the log files have errors every time it runs, but reports "success".

This is understandable as I hadn't actually written code to handle errors for some reason.  So, I wrote a section in the PowerShell script that now throws an error if Robocopy returns an unfavourable error code.

However, even if the code is executed (i.e. an error thrown), the package still states that it was installed!

What I'm hoping for is for some way that I can tell the agent on the workstation that the package failed installation.  I don't need to diagnose at this point, just that a failure happened. I know packages can't use error codes, but isn't there a way that the PowerShell script can return a failure to the agent?

Custom Return Codes

I have an application that we just built and are testing. The application itself installs successfully when running the install manually. It also has no issue when we install using Application Deployment via SCCM. However, it always shows failed. The return code the installer returns is  "0x0, no reboot."

How can we add custom return codes like 0x0.  I understand how to add return codes from within the deployment properties but it won't allow the x.

Applications Did Not Start Download in Software Center

Dear All,

Within my desktop's Software Center, there are couple of applications shown in Available Software which are preparing to download and install.

However, the Status was keep showing downloading (something like that) but always with 0%, it has been pending for couple of days.

I check my SCCM 2012 server, I browsed to Deployment, and the Deployment Status > In Progress page for the specific application was "waiting for content"? Before the server was fine to push applicaitons.

Please help to identify the cause.

Many thanks.

Been try to deploy a app with plugins that are a part of a virtual environment during OSD. Once the computer finishes deploying, the apps are there but the connection group is not enabled. During a regular deployment, it works, but not during OSD. Checking the AppEnfoce.log, no reference to virtual environments. Anybody experiencing the same issue?

App Store (CMApplicationCatalog) storing PC linked information

$

Hello All,

In testing a newly packaged application I installed it from our 'Enterprise App Store' and then uninstalled it. Problem being that now it appears in my 'Software Center' as an available App and constantly prompts me that there are available Apps that I can install. I have deleted the PC object from SCCM (not at a database level as I don't have that access) and have reinstalled a fresh OS; however it still prompts me.

Does anyone know where this PC to App link is stored so I can get it deleted?

Thanks

Preventing installation of pre deployed application

One of our software deployment technicians brought up an interesting conundrum. Hoping one of you has a simple solution:

We deploy an application not visible in SW center X days before the deadline to prestage the content. We file change control to indicate when the installations will occur.

A small percent of users have set the computer maintenance settings within software center to "Automatically install or uninstall required software ... outside of business hours" .

These users begin the install ahead of the intended deadline. We could prevent the installation by not making the application available, but that precludes prestaging of the content. In some instances, its nice users are being proactive to install software, so we don't want to simply force that setting off for all clients. In addition, a change control window is limited to a small time window, so adding 4 additional days to the change to account for prestaging isn't plausible.

So , let me hear your thoughts on the subject, or how you've handled this scenario. Is there a way to preventsome deployments from using the user defined computer maintenance settings?

Query for detecting Office x86 or x64.

Hi,

I am trying to find a way to detect which computers has Office 365 x86 and which has Office 365 x64 in our environment.

Anyone know a query that will work for this?

The query I am using to detect if Office 365 (any version) is installed is this:

select SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceID,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceType,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Name,SMS_R_SYSTEM.SMSUniqueIdentifier,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Client from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS_64 on SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS_64.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS_64.DisplayName = "Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus - en-us"

I am unable to find how Language Accessory Packs can be deployed with SCCM.

In the link here you can download these but there is no documentation on how to deploy silently.Does anybody know how these can be deployed silently with SCCM?

Thank you.

Application Deployment Evaluation Cycle fails with an error code 80040e14

Hey guys,

I'm having trouble with one of my Configuration Manager clients. It's not evaluating application deployments at all. I have been struggling with this problem for the last few days now. During that time I have been searching the internet for similar problems. Usually I could find at least some similarities, but this one seems to be a rare one.

Running the task Application Deployment Evaluation Cycle it fails at some point and the error0x80040e14 pops up multiple times. Monitoring the log files related to application deployment in merge mode outputs the following after the Application Deployment Evaluation Cycle is triggered.

Orca - Add changeable Files

Hi,

I have created a transform using Orca on a Windows 7 PC, and deployed it to my workstations.

Once deployed, I then add extra information to one of the ini files (i.e. to contains the workstation and phone number which is unique to that station). After I do this, the file goes back to how it was originally (repairs itself). How to I remove this msi function in Orca for this particular file so that it doesn't care if I alter it?

Thanks

How to get application deployment result for an individual client in a collection.

$

Hi all,

Hope you can help. For "Reasons" I have to automate a link between a legacy helpdesk system and SCCM to automate the deployment of software once it has been approved by the legacy system's process.

The legacy system hasn't much interconnectivity, but it can read and write to SQL databases. So we have created a standalone database for it to post requests, which include the Device name and a device collection ID linked to a deployment for the requested software.

A PowerShell script on the SQL server runs and after some validation will insert the machine into the collection using Add-CMDeviceCollectionDirectMembershipRule (having converted the machine name into a resource ID).

Next we need to feed back to the legacy system what happened to the deployment. The plan was to have another PowerShell script and for each outstanding request, query SCCM by machine name and collection id to get the current status, including both status type and status field as seen in the deployment monitoring in the console. The standalone DB would be updated with this status which the legacy system would read back in it's own time.

The problem is I cannot see a way to get this data out of sccm. While Get-CMDeployment shows the summary for the number of clients with each status type it does not have any individual client details to search for and return to one we are wanting.

Is anyone able to help with a method. Idealy one which uses sccm cmdlets or WMI and does not involve directly querying the SCCM SQL database.

regards

Mat

Has anyone been able to silently push out the click to run version of Office 365 2016 that will silently uninstall 2013 office 365 click to run? Having issues with this working. Not sure if the XML is wrong or if something else has to happen. I noticed it almost views it as an "update" in sccm.

Application Detection Rules - Wildcards

Morning

I'm relatively new to config manager- so far not overly difficult to get to grips with but I have come accross a problem I can't seem to figure out, so looking for some guidance.

We have Corel VideoStudio 8 deployed via SCCM, a subsequent patch was released which I wish to install.

When I ran the patch and used a tool to monitor the changes made to files - it actually made no changes to any of the primary application files instead adding a fie to the C:\Windows\Prefetch folder called "VSX8_HOTFIX_2.EXE- xxxxxxxxxxx.pf"

The "xxxxxxxxxx" represents a seemingly random number as it varies from machine to machine, therein lies my dilemma. The detection rule I was using was to detect the VSX8_HOTFIX_2.EXE- xxxxxxxxxxx.pf file to determine success or not. However as the "xxxxxxxxxx" is a variable the detection fails.

Is there a method of using a wildcard in place of the numbers, ie: VSX8_HOTFIX_2.EXE- *.pf or VSX8_HOTFIX_2.EXE- %.pf etc.

cheers in advance.

Distributing large Operating System Image to Distribution Point failing with "SendContent failed; 0x80004005"

System information; Site version: 5.00.8325.1000, OS: Windows Server 2012R2 64-bit (all servers)

Servers and roles; Server1: Site server+DP+others, Server2: DP only

I’m just getting started with deploying Operating Systems through SCCM but I’m having trouble distributing large OS Images(wim-files) to one of two distribution points. Both images will successfully distribute to the DP on Server1 (which is installed om the same server as the site server) but not to the second DP which is on a different server (Server2).

I can see a temp-file being created on the DP (Server2) in the SMS_DP$ folder increasing in size about 2MB/s (which seem incredibly slow considering we have a 1Gb connection between the two servers and no bandwidth throttling configured). After some time (30-90 minutes, sometimes after transferring 5GB sometimes after transferring 15GB) the transfer fails, the following error can be seen in PkgXferMgr.log on the site-server:

Sending file …

STATMSG…

STATMSG…

STATMSG…

No (more) send requests found to process…

~Waiting for new/rescheduled send requests, Maximum Sleep Time = 20 minutes…

Waiting for all sending threads to end…

~Shutdown in progress, stop sending…

CSendFileAction::SendFiles failed; 0x80004005  $$<SMS_PACKAGE_TRANSFER_MANAGER><03-23-2016 13:00:57.040-120><thread=2476 (0x9AC)>

CSendFileAction::SendContent failed; 0x80004005 $$<SMS_PACKAGE_TRANSFER_MANAGER><03-23-2016 13:00:57.040-120><thread=2476 (0x9AC)>

(0x80004005 apparently means unspecified error according to the CMTrace utility)

The transfer is then automatically resumed but fails again multiple times (depending on the image size), the 40GB image was not completed in 12 hours. Another 15GB image completed after resuming two times (although the distribution status was shown as failed in the admin-console in the meantime, which is quite annoying).

Smaller Images and Packages distribute without error. There is more than enough space on the distribution point disk which holds the content library(D:\, 200GB free). Dedup is configured for the content library disk D:\ and C:\ has a file NO_SMS_ON_DRIVE.SMS this is working correctly (no problem with smaller applications and images).

Any advice?
