Hi,

As title mentions, within an SCCM 2012-client, I have the message: App-v 5 installation "past due, will be retried", while it is installed.
Screenshot below to clarify, please advise:

Prompted for user name and password on client machines when deploying applications

Hi Folks,

I have successfully pushed the applications to Distribution Point and clients can see the application available under Software centre however the installation status is failed. When i manually click on retry to install the applications, i am prompted with user name and password. I have used service account when creating and deploying the package and service account is member of domain admin groups. The domain admin group is member of local administrator group on client machines. Not sure what is causing the username/password prompt.

Any ideas where to start looking to narrow down and resolve the issue?

Regards, Navdeep

Error installing applications as part of Task Sequence

$

Hi,

I have created a Task Sequence to install a Windows 10 image onto a test machine which works fine.  I then tried to create an additional Task Sequence which included applications as part of the process.  Once the OS is deployed, restarts I get the error message:

"Failed to run the last action: Install Applications. Execution of task sequence failed.
Unspecified error (Error: 80004005; Source: Windows)".

The machine then restarts and boots to the Windows log in screen with the OS deployed successfully.  Looking at the smsts log doesn't provide me with any obvious answers as to why the applications are failing to install.  I have ticked the option to allow the application to be installed as part of a task sequence and all applications install silently when deployed to a collection in SCCM.

Is there anything I am missing?

Thank you

Problem with applications after content validation process

Hi,

I have found interesting issue in my SCCM DP's. On few DP's, after weekly Content Validation process, few of applications, change status on "The package may not be present or may be corrupt. Please redistribute it". I have of course redistributed application and when it hasn't helped, I have removed totally and distributed again. Of course it works only till next Content Validation.

Strange is, even if applications change status on failed, it is installing on users PC, without any problem.

Have you found something similar on your SCCM environment and if yes, how to fix it?

Thank you.

Uninstall Office 365 failing

We have O365 Business edition (en-us and lv-lv) installed which I need to remove

I have in my SCCM 2012 R2 Package ODT setup.exe file and uninstall.xml

setup.exe /configure uninstall.xml

<Configuration>
<remove ALL="TRUE" />
<Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />
<Logging Name="OfficeRemoval.log" Path="%temp%" />
</Configuration>

I see that package installed successfully but Program and Features show that Office 365 is in place and no log file created.

I see in Windows\temp different log file name and there is some info, which do not give me any useful info.

Application Deployment - Clients Stuck in Unknown Status - Client Check/Active

I'm attempting to deploy out a small, 1MB MSI file to roughly 3000 computers, and I've run into an issue where at several of our office locations (between 5-10 clients), all of the clients seem to be stuck in the Unknown - Client Check/Active state.  All the clients appear to be healthy, and the content is available on the distribution point at that location.  I've seen plenty of posts along these lines that deal with Windows Updates, but nothing regarding an application deployment.  Has anyone run into this specifically, or provide me with some direction on this issue?

Thanks! Nate

Application Catalog - Install with User rights

$

Hello Everyone,

I would like to use the Application Catalog so my users can install anything themselves. But as i saw and tested if you are trying to run an executable file from the App Catalog with a user (and of course with user rights) it will fail. If you do the same with an Administrator account it works well.

The MSI applications are a little bit different. When I tried to install an MSI with user rights, seemingly it has been installed and worked perfectly but when i tried to install any updates for this program (in my case it was the Adobe Reader X) the MSP file said it couldn't be installed because the core program is missing. So it looks like the MSI can install but only in the user profile (of course if you log in with another user you cannot see the program and you cannot use it) which in my case is not good.

Does anyone have any experience or idea how i should set up my SCCM so the user is able to install any kind of Application from Application Catalog? I found a 3rd party software which can run programs with a different account name (e.g.:local adminsitrator) but i want to solve this with the SCCM if it's possible.

Thanks in advance.

Brgds.

Automation Studio 6.2 will not install via SCCM 2012

Hello,

I am trying to use SCCM 2012 to install Automation Studio 6.2 silently, in SCCM I simply navigate to the folder we have the files in on our UNC path and invoke "setup.exe -s". The setup is able to start on the PC (I actually see the setup in the task manager) but it does not finish. I can make it fully install when doing it manually. So I tried just invoking the setup.exe without silent install, it brings up the setup but seems to fail at installing the sentinel driver. Here is the part of the log file where it seems to fail, any ideas?

Deploying PowerShell Command Line via SCCM

$

Hi IT Professonals,

I am attempting to deploy a PowerShell script that removes all but the built-in XPS, Fax and OneNote Windows 7 printers.

I currently work in a 2012 R2 Domain Level, Windows 7 environment.

I am attempting to create a deployment package within SCCM that runs the following PowerShell script:

# Get Printers
$printers = Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_Printer

# Delete Printers
$printers | ForEach-Object {
    if ($_.Name -like "*XPS*" -Or $_.Name -like "*Fax*" -Or $_.Name -like "*OneNote*")
    {
    }
    else
    {
        $_.Delete()
    }
}

I guess this could be converted into a general question in regards to how to deploy a .ps1 script via SCCM, but I have managed to Create a program within SCCM that runs: powershell.exe -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\RemoveAllPrinters

And I have ensured that the Startup folder points to the UNC path to the directory where this PowerShell script is housed

The script runs as the current user permissions, and receives error -196608

Is this the right way to go?

Thank you in advance,

Daniel

Hi,

We have CAS, 4 Primary, SS and DP in our environment. we have uninstalled manually few software's from machines which are not showing in add/ remove programs but even after 2-3 days resource explorer is not showing updated inventory. Checked Inventoryagent.log file from client which shows "Inventory: Successfully sent report. Destination:mp:MP_SinvEndpoint" but still clients are not showing updated records in resource explorer and still reflecting in reports. It is observed that report is updating very slow

SCCM 2012 R2 Application Detection Method File System Folder not working

$

Hi,

I have a problem with the Application Detection Method for a Folder in the File System.
To detect if a certain application is installed we use the MSI Product code which functions well for this application. However in some cases the MSI did not install correctly or somehow the installation folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Vips ;(for X64) -or- C:\Program Files\Vips ;(for X86)) was not available. Therefore we also added a detection method for a for this installation folder. But when I remove the folder to trigger a repair for this installation nothing happens. However when I uninstall the application from Programs and Features it is reinstalled when I trigger the application evaluation.

So it seems the Folder detection does not function as I expected.
(added some pics but am not able to insert until my account is verified?)

Can someone please help me on this issue?

Application distribution is taking a long time to complete to the distribution point

Dear Experts,

We are using SCCM Version 1602 - With Single Primary & Few Secondary Sites in our environment, we are facing an issue with content distribution to a distribution point. we are distribution content from our primary site to the secondary site and Distribution points.

Content is getting distributed to all the secondary sites and distribution points. But we have seen issues with 3 distribution points. these distribution points are getting content from secondary site servers. even for a small package of size 50MB is taking more than 24 hours only for these 3 distribution points we are seeing only"starting to process the content" "Start to Evaluate" or "Waiting for content" under monitoring in console.

Troubleshooting steps tried:

Checked the distmgr, PkgXferMgr, despool,sender logs we are unable to see any issues from these logs there is no error message or failures.

Re-distributed the content the status has not changed waited for more than 24 hours then removed the content and distributed to the distribution point no change. removed the content from administrator console and removed the content from the distribution point and re-triggered the content to the distribution point no change in the status.

we were able to access the admin$ share from the primary and secondary servers to the DP and from DP also also it is working fine without issues.

Checked IIS is up and running

Rebooted the distribution points which is having issues and restarted sms executive services in the primary server even then the status has not changed,

Kindly share us the other troubleshooting steps that can be done to fix this issue.

Thanks
