Unable to package and deploy Windows Update Assistant tools for Win10

Hi friends,

I am required to test and package for Windows Update Assistant tools which we're planning to be deployed to the whole campus, is that possible to do this from SCCM ?

It seems that whenever i tried to manually install on the local machine, it doesn't give me the option to choose the directory folder to choose where can we install the Windows Update Assistant (WUA)

Is that possible to package this under SCCM or cannot ?

Thanks!

Failed to take snapshot of one or more contents in package

We have two main SCCM site system servers, and all of a sudden (everything was working before, no change) the applications would not distribute to the DPs.

distmgr.log:

Snapshot processing content with ID 16781461 ...

The source directory \\sccm02\Packages\ doesn't exist or the SMS service cannot access it, Win32 last error = 5

Failed to take snapshot of one or more contents in package 00239

I tried granting Everyone full control for both Share and NTFS, and granting the site server computer account full control, still the same issue.  I could access it manually w/ the UNC path and read/write/delete all of its contents.

If I copy the folder to another server and point it there in the Application, it distributes the content to DPs just fine.

MSI package say installation failed even after installation is successful.

I got to create application from msi file and all was done perfectly.

Software installation is fine too, the only problem i am facing is sccm says installation failed while it was installed correctly.

MSI package is created with all default setting.

I am facing this problem almost for 3-4 msi package is there anything i am missing on package?

Here is the error code on client:

Repair Local Group Policy

Hi

I'm trying to repair local group policy on a number of remote PCs (win 10) by deleting the file held in %windir%\system32\GroupPolicy\machine\registry.pol

I've created a package and deployed it many times now with the same result: The file is never deleted.  The package does run as I can log various steps through the process.

I've used psexec to run this manually as system and it works every time.

I have added debugging lines in my code file and it appears that the deployment can't see the grouppolicy folder. After a little investigation it is a hidden folder so I tried adding

attrib -h %windir%\system32\GroupPolicy. (Also tried c:\windows\system32...)

Del /q %windir%\system32\GroupPolicy/machine\registry.pol

It just doesn't work. If I add Dir c:\windows\system32\grouppolicy > c:\test.txt

The output is a blank system32 listing as if it can't find the folder

If I run the cmd file as admin it works fine.

I've tried using RD /Q /S %windir%\system32\GroupPolicy. instead with no luck.

Any help would be most appreciated as this is driving me nuts.

Hi All,

We have purchased few new Toad License and we will have to deploy these to few users.

I have the MSI package for the toad and is ready for deployment, but i also want to include the key with the package so that we don't have to share the Keys with the users.

Can any one help.

the Quest team asked to create a registry file and deploy it, but the registry key is not activating the software:

Is it possible to update content en masse/in bullk?

I touched maybe a dozen applications and a handful of packages.  I don't necessarily recall all of them so I was hoping to just update them all if I could.

Blank Application Reports in ERROR Tab

Hello,

Since I've upgraded to 1906 I've been getting some weird reporting errors, in the case of the application deployment below, it is deployed to a system collection but installed for one single user at the time.

The detection parameter used is "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Anaconda2 2019.03 (Python 2.7.16 64-bit)" and that as always worked in the past.

But since the SCCM and CCM client upgrade to the latest, a lot of user-based deployment are reporting errors, however the said error is blank in the monitoring segment.

For the example below, 13 systems and or users are reporting errors, however there's no way of telling whom?

Detection Method Using %UserProfile% in the Path

$

Hello,

I have written a simple bat file that copies 2 shortcuts to the desktop and I created an application for it so it can be run from the Application Catalog.  Everything works like it should and the shortcuts get copied to the users desktop but I can't get the detection method to work so even though the shortcuts are there the user is told the installation failed.

I assumed I could use %UserProfile%\Desktop and then the name of the shortcut as the file name in the Detection Method but that never detects the shortcut.

If I use the full path of C:\User\username\Desktop and the same file name it does detect it and says the installation completed successfully.

Is it possible to use system variables such as %UserProfile% as part of the path in the detection Methods?

Thanks,

Dustin

Strange SCCM 2012 Deployment failures

Hi,

I have an application that has 2 deployments types.  One of which has a simple requirement rule to check if a process is running. If it is not running then it will install the application silently otherwise it defaults to the prompted install.  This succeeds on over 4500 machines but fails on 175.  I cannot seem to figure out why.  SCCM reports back with 'Application requirement evaluation or detection failed (087d00329(-2016410839)).  The AppIntent.log does not show an install required.  The line items in AppIntentEval is as follows:

This Deployment type has a priority 1

ScopeId_ACF98940-2B48-4342-98D9-9C6E235BB5DA/DeploymentType_1299cf2e-69c4-4345-b7f6-9573dcdaa35d/4 :- Current State = Error, Applicability = Unknown, ResolvedState = None, ConfigureState = NotNeeded, Title = Chrome - Silent

This Deployment type has a priority 2

ScopeId_ACF98940-2B48-4342-98D9-9C6E235BB5DA/DeploymentType_a7654e9f-b040-46f2-b8e1-3ea217d57365/5 :- Current State = NotInstalled, Applicability = Applicable, ResolvedState = None, ConfigureState = NotNeeded, Title = Chrome - User Prompt

Has anyone had similar issues and if so can you share your resolution?

Kind Regards,

How to deploy language packs via SCCM to Windows 10 1809 LTSC

$

Hi,

My company is currently running Windows 10 LTSC 1809 (OS Build 17763.348).

Also running SCCM Current Branch version 1902.

I need to be able to create language pack applications so that I can deploy the language packs to devices in our Luxembourg office.

I downloaded the SW_DVD9_NTRL_WIN_10_1809_32_64_ARM64_MULTILANG_LANGPACKALL_LIP_X21-91305.ISO and followed the below guide to packaging the French Language pack using SCCM.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4468362/deploy-language-pack-as-application-in-configuration-manager

I have deployed the language pack to a test PC and the install was successful.

However, from the Languages section on the Windows 10 PC the French language pack is not showing.

When running the command DISM /online /Get-intl the results show the following:

Reporting online international settings.

Default system UI language: en-GB

The UI language fallback is : en-US

System locale : en-GB

Default time zone : GMT Standard Time

Active keyboard(s) : 0809:00000809

Keyboard layered driver : PC/AT Enhanced Keyboard (101/102-Key)

Installed language(s): en-GB

Type : Partially localized language, MUI type.

  Fallback Languages en-US

Installed language(s): fr-FR

Type : Partially localized language, MUI type.

  Fallback Languages en-US

The operation completed successfully.

Can anybody please advise of what I a missing?

What is the recommended approach to deploy language packs via SCCM so that that multiple languages are available from within the language section on Windows 10.

I would appreciate any help on this.

Many Thanks

Sean

Application Detection Method failing During OSD becuase detection script is not signed.

$

Hello,

I have recently added a an app to my task sequence.  It uses a script detection method.  It is failing to install because the detection script errrors out with a script not signed errror.   I assumed this was because the machine did not have our execution policy bypass client settings yet.  I added a run commandline step at the beginning of the install applications step after setup windows configuration manager, to run "set-executionpolicy RemoteSigned -force" This ran successfully everytime, and even after i could pull up cmd prompt and switch to powershell and run get-executionpolicy and it was set to remotesigned. This did not help though. I could see that the detection was still failing and see the log line "script paramaters -nologo -noninteractive -noprofile -executionpolicy allsigned"  before it fails.  i found this article:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/Azure/de-DE/65403f57-9e66-4592-a008-a777d4e83665/task-sequence-and-unsigned-powershell?forum=configmanagerosd

which mentions adding two keys under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\PowerShell.   So i changed my run commandline step to run the below

PowerShell.exe -NoProfile -NoLogo -Command "New-ItemProperty -Path HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\PowerShell -Name EnableScripts -PropertyType DWORD -Value 1 -Force;New-ItemProperty -Path HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\PowerShell -Name ExecutionPolicy -PropertyType String -Value RemoteSigned -Force"

which ran fine on my machine.  When it runs in the task sequence though it fails.  Saying HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\PowerShell does not exist.  i opend cmdprompt on the machine i was imaging and switched it to powershell and ran get-itemProperty HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\PowerShell and it failed saying the key didn't exist.  Even tab complete did not see any powershell subkey under windows.

So what is the deal here?  Is there any certain way to set the detection script execution policy?  I don't understand why it is being ran as "All Signed" really. I thought since it is a script just for detection that config manager creates on the fly in a temp directory it wouldnt need to set the execution policy to all signed.

I tried to deploy an application and it failed. Due to not having time to troubleshoot the issue, I tried to manually install the application from the PC. When I do that, I get the following message.
Error 1309. Error reading from file:....Verify that that file exists and that you can access it.
It does this for all the computers that the SCCM application deployment failed on.
Any suggestion?

Uninstall package for Skype for Business For Office 365

Could someone point me in the right direction to uninstall Skype for Business For Office 365.

SFB is part of our golden image, but we are deprecating Skype For Business and I am looking to leverage SCCM to uninstall SFB on existing machines.

I assume first, I need to Create a install\uninstall package in SCCM with the O365 installer. Once I have that, is where I tend to not understand how to only uninstall Skype.

Issues deploying software

Hi guys,

I'm having issues deploying an update for the CAS Graphing Scientific Calculator fx-CP400. https://edu.casio.com/products/cg/cp2/

I'm trying to deploy the update as a package but when I deploy the executable it fails to install as it tries to decompress a MSI and place it in the roaming folder.

SCCM then brings up an error saying that the installation package could not be opened (understandable as it's likely creating an MSI in a location which it doesn't have permission to access).

So to get around this I went to the roaming folder grabbed the MSI and tried to deploy that. But when deploying the MSI the OS update installs on the computer correctly but never asks the user to plug in their calculator in order to update the calculator.

So I am forced to deploy the executable not the MSI.

Has anyone faced similar issues before? How did you get around it?

Thanks!
