Custom TS Deployment - User Logged Off

Is there a way to run a custom TS deployment to PC's whether someone is logged on or off?  I have a few steps to a deployment I'm doing and want to ensure the TS runs in any scenario.  The first part of the TS would be to restart to computer after warning of 120 sec countdown.

All Applications Suddenly Reporting 0% Compliance (Monitoring)

SCCM 2012 SP1 - Win2k8 R2 - single primary site.

Applications that were deployed and successfully installed months ago are now reporting back as 0% compliant, despite actually being installed and functional on the endpoint(s). Over the past month ALL of our application deployments have dwindled down to 0%. Software Updates and Program deployments are still reporting accurately.

Seeing the following error messages being repeatedly logged in the InventoryProvider.log:

Also seeing the following error message on the Site Server:

Inventory Data Loader failed to process the file C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\inboxes\auth\dataldr.box\Process\HUYQSCMN.MIF because it is larger than the defined maximum allowable size of 10000000.

Solution: Increase the maximum allowable size, which is defined in the registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMS\Components\SMS_INVENTORY_DATA_LOADER\Max MIF Size (the default is 5 MB), and wait for Inventory Data Loader to retry the operation.

Please advise as I am not sure if these errors are specific to the issue I am seeing or not.

Thanks.

Using SCCM 2012 SP1 on Svr2008R2.

Hello.

i have a few application deployments with deployment errors in the summarizer Graph, but there is not any machine in the error Tab of the Deployment Status page. I have tried to Run Summarization again many times, but its been months and they still appear.

How is that possible?

EP Updates failing to distribute

Hello,

I am using an ADR to update my EP updates. Problem is, it was working, now its not. Error is from smsdpprov.log on DP.

From what I could find online the issue can be resolved by recreating the package, so I did, and it appears to not have solved my problem. I have 4 sites that completed, and 4 that failed. Same error on all 4 failed servers, also looks like same folder. I have checked AD memberships and local admin memberships on one working and one failing. They are identically setup. Also on these failed servers there is 350 gigs of free space.

Is it possible to clear the list of applications that a user has requested or installed?

$

At the moment, if I request a piece of software from the software center and install it, when I log onto another machine I am constantly being told there are new apps available for me to download. The only way I can clear it at the moment is to remove the application deployment and then redeploy.

I've also had a few issues with applications hanging on waiting to install and it would have been easier to deal with if I knew a way to clear the install from the user account.

Is this possible?

Problem with distribute package on Distribution Point server

Hi,

I have found few weeks ago, on one Distribution Point servers, one package has not been distributed correctly. In "Distribution Point Configuration status" node, in details tab there is:

"Failed to update package - Package transfer manager failed to update the package "XXXX" on distribution point...."

I have checked PkgXferMgr.log and there is error with:

Packages stuck on Installing.

Hi All,

I have set up a new installation of System Center 2012, and have tested OSD and application deployment.

My issue is: OSD works, if I ask it to just apply an image. If I install applications, or packages, via the MDT 2013 task sequence, it fails.

When installing applications via packages, it downloads the content, but get stuck on "Installing". It eventually times out.

This is my first time setting up System Center from scratch, but have prior experience in application management, with great success. So I am wondering if this has something to do with my general setup of System Center?

Thank you all :)

SCCM 2012 Uninstalling Applications

Hello,

I don't know what is happening, but I have had SCCM 2012 decide to remove some applications from computers. The bad thing about this is one, that I know of so far, application is patient care. In the AppEnforce.Log on the client it looks like it removes it, then reinstalls it:

For Spacelabs there is only 1 collection to instsall the application. No collection, or deployment to remove it. For Chrome I have a Collection for Deployment and removal. The deployment is based on an AD group membership, if you arent in it and you have chrome installed SCCM will remove it. Problem is, in the case of chrome, the computers are in that membership and show in the collection to install Chrome, but do not show to remove Chrome. The spacelabs collection is currently just a manual add collection, so if you are in it, you should have the software.

Why would these computers be removing the software?

Registry Key being imported into wrong hive

HI...

Having an issue importing a previously exported registry key.

It's supposed to go in HKLM/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Bradford Networks

But its putting one level lower in HKLM/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Wow6432Node/Bradford Networks.

It's making an "extra" Wow6432Node" Hive for some reason.

The command line I'm using is:  cmd /c reg import Bradford.reg

The keys I originally exported were the "Bradford Networks" from  HKLM/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/

Any thoughts?  Should I create/export the keys a differnt way?

How does SCCM download the packages in the CCMCACHE area?

$

What is the default behavior for SCCM downloading packages into the SCCM ccmcache area?

Here's what we're seeing when installing a package on a "clean" test machine:

A subfolder is created in the ccmcache area (typically named 1, 2, 3, ... a, b, c, etc.)
A temp subfolder is created in the ccmcache area as well. Named the same as the package cache folder created above with .tmp added.  Now I have a, and a.tmp folders for example.
The package starts to download into the "a" subfolder, but not how I would expect.
First, all of the folder structure in the package is created in the ccmcache area.  The foldernames are correct. There are no files yet.  This can take 10-15 minutes.  All I have is a directory structure.
Next filenames start showing up in the subfolders. However, they are all zero sized files, and they have temp filenames, not the real filenames. Again this takes 10-15 minutes.
Next the zero sized files begin to download content. This is the actual downloading of the files. They still have temp filenames. (The package I'm working with is 4.3 Gig).
After the file content has completed the download, all of the temp filenames are renamed to their original file names. Again this takes about 10-15 minutes.
After all this, the software installation actually starts.  The SW installs in 17-19 minutes.

Is this the expected behavior? Why not just DL everything in a typical method like you'd see with a copy, xcopy, or robocopy type command?

Any help is away appreciated.

Background:
I only work on creating the SW packages, not on administration of the SCCM tool itself, so I'm not familiar with how the SCCM delivery method is actually setup.

SCCM 2012
Working on a development server, so the package is not available to all yet.
Test machine is a typcial Win7 x64 VM.
The package is primarily a drag and drop application.  4.3 Gig in size.
The files in the package are not compressed.
Virus scanning is disabled for the ccmcache directory.
I just switched to packaging w/ the SCCM tool, so please forgive my ignorance with the tool at this time.

Forced Reboot for Application ignored when Updates pending

$

I am testing a new deployment for an application that I have set on the Deployment type to:

"Configuration manager client will force a mandatory device restart"

I deployed to five Windows 7 machines.  4 of them installed and prompted that a reboot was required (with the 90 minute timer).  One however shows in the logs that it was supposed to force the reboot, but alas it did not.

I have pasted the AppEnforce.log below and highlighted where it clearly states it intends to force a reboot but instead it goes directly (2 seconds later) into detecting if the app is installed and then (as you might have guessed) detects it as installed.  As stated above, it never prompted for a reboot and shows "Installed" in Software Center.

I tested on a new build and realized that this behavior happened when there are Software Updates pending.  On all 4 machines that worked and prompted for a reboot, they had already installed the updates that are not enforced until December 18th.  The one machine above that failed to reboot along with my test machine have several updates pending.

Has anyone else seen this behavior?  Seems like a bug to me.  Can't imagine why having pending software updates would suppress a forced reboot for an application.

Migrated Package/Deployment - Downloaded Package - Installation Error 1625

Hello there

We have kind of a weird problem after migration of Packages and Advertisements from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012 R2. If packages are configured like this:

and Deployments have the following settings:

If we have a couple of programs within a chaining and use different installation contexts within this chaining (SYSTEM an User) the installation will fail with Error 1625 on the user installation part.

The error status message is:

The program for deployment "A012015A" failed ("B0000C36" - "Program Name"). A failure exit code of 1625 was returned. User context: Domain\User

For test purposes we changed the permissions  on the ccmcache to and gave the user read permissions. After this the installation finished with no error. Did anybody else encounter this problem? We have about 150 similar programs of this kind so this is a real issue for us. We don't want to execute programs from distributio point and we don't want to give a permanent read permission to users.

Thank you!

how to delete package reference from distribution point SCCM 2012

We have deleted packages from DPs with no issues, when we first delete remove content from DPs then delete packages.

some team members deleted a package\application from SCCM, now the DPs keep showing waiting for package or waiting for content.

I do not believe they checked to see status on DPs first.

How can we delete this job from that DP that is still waiting for content?

Need assistance creating applications with superseedence to uninstall Office 2010, Lync 2010 and then install Office 365 click to run 2013

We are getting ready in a few months to uninstall our locally installed Office 2010 and head to the cloud with Office 365 2013. I have created applications to uninstall Office 2010 and Lync 2010 and then added them to the supersedence tab for Office 365 office 2013 click to run with appv5.

When deploying the office 365 2013 application it does not uninstall office 2010 or lync 2010 with the supersedence.  I am able to manually uninstall Office 2010 and Lync 2010 with the command lines I am using in the applications.

The application uninstall for Office 2010 is:

The application uninstall is an exe so I created an application, created a deployment type with the location of our Office 2010 admin point, installation program and uninstall program are set with the same line as I have tried to deploy it separately and also as a supersedence in the Office 365 application setup.exe /uninstall ProPlus /config "\\sccmserver\share\Office2010\ProPlus.ww\silentuninstallconfig.xml.  The silentuninstallconfig.xml was created from the original config.xml file and edited to these settings:<Configuration Product="ProPlus">
 <Display Level="none" CompletionNotice="NO" SuppressModal="yes" AcceptEula="yes" />
 <Setting Id="Reboot" Value="Never" />
 <Setting Id="SETUP_REBOOT" Value="NEVER" />
 <OptionState Id="ProductFiles" State="Local" Children="force" />
 </Configuration>

The detection method is the folder path to see that office 14 exists.  When I deploy this the machines finish with success showing this exists, but does not uninstall Office 2010.

running the command line manually mapped to this location on a machine uninstalls office 2010 without issue.

Lync 2010 uninstall:

Lync is an exe so I am using the LyncSetup.exe /silent /uninstall.  The application is in the supersedence tab for Office 365 2013. This never installs.  If I create a softare distribution and deploy it on its own it uninstalls without issue.  We are going to use Lync 2013 with our office 365 2013 installation so we need to uninstall this.  The detection method for lync is file system folder and the Microsoft lync folder for detection.

MS Office 15 (Office 365) was created with the click to run tool.  I can install this with the application I created using the appv5 package created with the click to run tool.  The issue is we need Office 2010 and Lync 2010 uninstalled first.  Having both versions of Office installed in test has caused issues where Office 15 365 will not list in add and remove programs and cannot be uninstalled even with the fix it article to remove office 2013.

I have looked at many articles and so far it is not working for us.  Any help appreciated to get us to the cloud.

Thanks,

Brit

.NET 4.5.1 Install only works when running on a UI session

I have created an application package for .NET 4.5.1 offline installer with the following installation command:

NDP451-KB2858728-x86-x64-AllOS-ENU.exe /q /norestart /ChainingPackage "ADMINDEPLOYMENT"

When SCCM attempts to install this application after a machine policy refresh the install fails with the following errors:

[12/13/2013, 8:51:47] Directory 'C:\e5bb6b6b88f53e9031f3ffa7a961\' has been selected for file extraction
[12/13/2013, 8:51:47] Extracting files to: C:\e5bb6b6b88f53e9031f3ffa7a961\
[12/13/2013, 8:51:47] Error 0x80004005: Failed to extract all files out of box container #0.
[12/13/2013, 8:51:47] Error 0x80004005: Failed to extract
[12/13/2013, 8:51:47] Exiting with result code: 0x80004005

Manually going to the machine and running the installation via the Software Center results in the application installing correctly and reporting back to SCCM as a success.

I've tried going the route of the web installer but it fails because it can't get past the corporate proxy and I'd prefer the offline installer anyways.  The web installer does manage to extract itself via SCCM though.  I have already tried redownloading the installer but it didn't make a difference.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

Adobe Flash Rollout failing on some machines

anyone else having the issue with failed Flash updates (from using SCUP to inject them into the update process) one some machines with the error:

Product: Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX -- Error 1714.The older version of Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX cannot be removed.  Contact your technical support group.  System Error 1612.

Even though we've removed the old versions and run the Adobe uninstaller?

Even if I grab the msi file and run it manually I get a prompt about the feature I'm trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable and then points to the ccmcache file as an option to browse (where I can go find the msi file which still doesn't work). I thought maybe the file grabbed by SCUP was special so I went and got the generic MSI file from Adobe (through their distribution method) and it does the same thing (why on earth would their generic msi file wonder about a network share also?). Any thoughts on what is happening here? I can go to adobe's site and run the installer from there without a hitch.

thanks in advance

Deploy Adobe Creative Cloud Issue

Hi,

I am creating application of Adobe Creative Cloud in SCCM 2012 R2. In the User Experience I selected "Install for System" like other applications. When I install it from Software Center, Software Center closes itself in the end of installation (all Adobe application is installed and work properly). If I try to open Software Center, it shows error "Loading software center returned error code 0x80041001(-2147217407)." But, it is back to normally after a reboot. I added it into Windows 8.1 task sequence, task sequence hangs at installing this application.

When I select "Install for User" in User Experience, then it works perfect in Software Center, however, I cannot use it in any task sequence.

Any suggestion to solve this?

Thanks!

Andy

No data in the unused software report

Hi,

We have Software metering enabled and many of the software metering reports return data as we would expect, for example:

Computers that have run a specific metered software program

Concurrent usage for all metered software programs

However, no matter how long we wait (SCCM 2012 has been running now for 3 months) the most important report for us always shows up blank: "Computers that have a metered program installed but have not run the program since a specified date".

The only thing I have noticed is that if I modify the report for a free text date input it appears to be expecting a US date format, but is presenting us with a UK date format (we are in the UK) when we leave the default drop down box inthe report.  This is suggesting to me that the query is expecting a US date format to report against, but has received UK dates from the clients and this is how they are stored in the DB.  I can't work out how to fix this though or why the others are fine but this one is blank, please help!

Thanks in advance!
