Windows Update - Not sure what I am doing wrong

$

Hello,

I have SCCM managing updates, but Clients appear to be going to Microsoft for updates. In the local policy on the machine I see that the Primary Server is the update service location.

If the end user shutdown the computer the gold shield indicating that there are updates to do shows. What could I be missing? I know this may seems small BUT computers are installing updates from Microsoft, and the biggest problem is that IE is updating.

During OSD which Client Policy is applied? Do I need to disable Software Updates in the Default Client Settings policy? This policy is not applied to any Collection. My policy for the client I am using is applied to the following Collections:

All Unknown Computers

All Workstations with SCCM 2012 Client

Deploy Windows 7 x86/x64

Deploy Windows 7 x86/x64 Testing

Any direction would be appreciated.

The SMS Provider reported an error

Hello everyone,

I recently installad SCCM 2012 and everything ran as it should.
However, when I create a new Application it gives me the below error code.

This forum and search engines informed me that it is a known issue with a database move.
However, I haven't made a database move.

Does anyone know of how to resolve this?

I already provided full access to all users to see if that was the issue, but it wasn't.
Also made the share name shorter to 2 letters to make sure that wasn't an issue aswell.
Tried to look in the log files but I can't find the logs.

My environment:
Win2k8 R2
Sccm 2012 SP1
SQL server 2012

Any help will be much appreciated.

Hello,

primary site in lab. Created and deployed first App (7Zip). Found a hotfix from May 2013 with the same status but in CAS environment.

Everything is green. No obvious errors. Found multiple posts about the same situation. Some of them refers to CM2007.

Don't see any post related to RTM version. Where to start a troubleshooting?

SCCM 2012. Clients are assigned to Secondaries Sites.

Hello everybody,  we had SCCM 2007, we killed all virtual CCM machines and created new with WServer2008 R2 for SCCM2012. In to SCCM 2007 we had one Central Primary site and 7 ChildrenPRIMARIES sites. Now we have 1 Primary Site and 7 secondaries(In logic reasons all new secondaries sites have same site code names as SCCM 2007 had for chidren sites). Now, when I try to join old PC(which one been in SCCM 2007) to domain it assign to secondary site with old site code name.

 I uninstalled client like:

C:\Windows\ccmsetup\ccmsetup.exe /uninstall,

and deleted  C:\Windows\ccmsetup, C:\Windows\ccm folders and C:\Windows\SMSCFG.INI file.

I installed client and it again assigned to same secondary site.

Command : C:\Windows\ccmsetup\ccmsetup.exe  /SMSSITECODE=WCM(PrimarySiteCode) does not work, on the client Task manager/ processes

"ccmsetup.exe" appears for 3-5 sec. and disappears. In admin console client type  is "YES", but I cannot contact with these machines.  On client Control

Panel\Configuration Manager-> General -  Assigned MP : is Secondary SiteCodeName, in Action Tab are only : Machine Policy Retrival &Evaluation Cycle and User Policy Retrival &Evaluation Cycle.

How to fix it? I cannot change it manually. I do not want to reimage all(400) computers.

Thanks for any help.

Issue with Application Installation

Hi,

I am trying to deploy a simple application that contains one exe file. I am installing the app through bat file. The issue is that the bat file doesn't run properly under system account. When run it always fail. If i try installing it manually i get error"'Filename' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file".

To be perfectly clear this fails when i try to "Run as Administrator". If i run it under system account it is installed. But this behavior is not working for me. I have to be able to run the bat file under system account successfully.

Does anybody have idea what can be done to fix that?

Thanks in advance.

Registry Key being imported into wrong hive

$

HI...

Having an issue importing a previously exported registry key.

It's supposed to go in HKLM/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Bradford Networks

But its putting one level lower in HKLM/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Wow6432Node/Bradford Networks.

It's making an "extra" Wow6432Node" Hive for some reason.

The command line I'm using is:  cmd /c reg import Bradford.reg

The keys I originally exported were the "Bradford Networks" from  HKLM/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/

Any thoughts?  Should I create/export the keys a differnt way?

SCCMContentLib and client cache with different files

$

Hi all,

got an issue with the content lib that is driving me insane.

Office.2010 package, has a subdirectory called "Company" which is where we place our various msp's for the different installs.

Deleted one msp, replaced with another with a new name - install from the package source, works as expected.

If I use content library explorer from the SCCM 2012 R2 toolkit - the correct (updated) files show up as part of the package, and this can be verified manually by navigating to the path provided by content library explorer.

If the client then downloads this package - the content is from a week ago - with files that have been deleted since, none of the new msp's etc.

Ive removed the content, re-added, redistributed, updated the content, updated the revision etc - but no joy.

I have no been able to find a way currently to force a clean-up or re-evaluation of the contentlib....

Anyone have any suggestions of how to force the contentlib to take a good hard look at itself ?

Required software install to users

Im targeting a group of users for a "Required" software install.  I am giving them a week to install from the App Store before making it mandatory.  Where would I go to configure that this only be installed on the PC that they have logged on the most and not a PC they happen to be on when it becomes mandatory?

Is there any recommended maximum number of deployed application to a single user/computer?

Hi!

As the title says, i wonder if there is any recommended maximum number of deployed application to a single user/computer?

I have about 60-70 applications in my environment, how would the performance be affected if I would make these available for all computers or users to install? I guess its only the client that would be affected right?

How intense is the process that checks if applications is installed, applicable etc..

Thanks!

Hello,

I have an application (deployed over collection) which is working on my test clients. On one Client I am getting the message:

The software change returned error code 0x80091007 (-2146889721).

When i check the CAS.log I see that the has value of the application has a probelm.

On my other test clients the software is working fine.

The clients are in the same subnet, so no boundary issue.

Here is the CAS.log

just migrating  from SCCM 2007 to 2012 R2 earlier all advertisement done via AD security group (just add machine into respective group) software will get install now if we same AD security group in SCCM 2012 it's necessary to take any precaution? or else if machine having CM 2007 client it will connect to SCCM 2007 for advertisement similarly if machine having SCCM 2012 client will connect 2012 server for deployment this method works for package & application deployment?

SCCM 2012 R2 problem with device deployment (user deployments OK)

$
0
0

I have a SCCM 2012 R2 infrastructure in place and have been using it for several months. I have noticed a problem with application and package deployments that are targeting device collections. Once the package has been distributed to the various distribution point servers and the distribution shows as successful the deployment state never changes from the grey "unknown" status. Most of the deployments I have done this way are set to run as soon as possible and for the most part I have specified that they run immediately regardless of the maintenance window. I have checked my boundaries several times and have confirmed that everything is set properly (via proper IP address ranges). The thing that perplexes me is that in my effort to get these packages deployed I decided to see if I could instead deploy to users and without any other changes I have been able to rapidly push these items (most of which are .vbs scripts that do things like copy files or create folders on workstations) without fail. The deployments often kick of within a few moments of a forced machine policy evaluation cycle. I am at my wits end to figure out why deployments go smoothly to user collections but seem to get stuck in limbo when device collections are used. I would be happy to provide any pertinent log info that would help in the diagnostic process.

I would like to add that the endpoint protection updates created through the ADR seem to be flowing (or at least the compliance state of workstations would indicate that they are). Also the Software Center and Application Catalog seem to work without any problems.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
