Possible to Change Package ID?

$

Is it possible to change the package ID on a package in CM2012 SP1 CU3? (perhaps via PowerShell)  Our packagers create and test packages on a separate primary, then CM admins distribute globally from CAS.  Having the site code for the CAS in the package ID helps us to quickly identify what packages are production and which are in development \ being worked on by packagers.

SCCM 2012 Configuration Manager "Application Management" area Error Your data failed to save.

Note I just would like to modify it and keep getting this message below when I try to either remove it or modify it:

“Configuration Manager”
Your data failed to save. Please check your network connection and try again.

What a pain in the BUTT with this and need some Help!

Thanks

Note that all I am trying to do at this point is to either modify the current application, delete it entirely from the Application Management area and just create a brand new Application, but it keeps giving an error and slowing the process of being able to deploy any applications period, so anyone that has received this message and has some answers would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Freddie

Why are some clients being assigned wrong DP?

Overview

SCCM 2012 SP1, One Site, One MP, ~80 DP's
GLCM001  - Site Server, MP, DP in data centre
UKASHI001 - DP in branch office
UKGLAS001 - DP in branch office
One to one mapping between AD Site (or IP Range), Boundary group and DP. No Fallback DP's. No distributing content to preferred DP's.

I've been experiencing some issues with content being pulled by the end client from GLCM001 instead of the DP within the defined Boundary.

We run our domain from two data centres with ~80 branch offices.  In one of the data centres I have my SCCM Server (GLCM001  - Site Server, MP, DP etc), in each of the branch offices I have a DP.
I'm aware that boundary overlapping is the most common cause for this issue, I looked at the defined boundaries but couldn't see an overlap, and I haven't come across any log to prove otherwise. Normally I just use AD sites to map boundaries but for troubleshooting purposes I changed the boundaries of the sites I was using for testing to be IP address ranges, which made no difference.

My problem is appearing in some branch offices, but not all, and all clients within a branch office react the same.

I ran two tests
The first was to check that if the content was only on GLCM001, clients not within it's boundary didn't download content from it.  This worked as expected, the two test clients didn't download content.

On the second test, when the content is not on GLCM001, but on the DP's near the client, UKGLAS065 gets it content from the GLCM001 DP

Any ideas why?

.NET 4.5.1 Install only works when running on a UI session

I have created an application package for .NET 4.5.1 offline installer with the following installation command:

NDP451-KB2858728-x86-x64-AllOS-ENU.exe /q /norestart /ChainingPackage "ADMINDEPLOYMENT"

When SCCM attempts to install this application after a machine policy refresh the install fails with the following errors:

[12/13/2013, 8:51:47] Directory 'C:\e5bb6b6b88f53e9031f3ffa7a961\' has been selected for file extraction
[12/13/2013, 8:51:47] Extracting files to: C:\e5bb6b6b88f53e9031f3ffa7a961\
[12/13/2013, 8:51:47] Error 0x80004005: Failed to extract all files out of box container #0.
[12/13/2013, 8:51:47] Error 0x80004005: Failed to extract
[12/13/2013, 8:51:47] Exiting with result code: 0x80004005

Manually going to the machine and running the installation via the Software Center results in the application installing correctly and reporting back to SCCM as a success.

I've tried going the route of the web installer but it fails because it can't get past the corporate proxy and I'd prefer the offline installer anyways.  The web installer does manage to extract itself via SCCM though.  I have already tried redownloading the installer but it didn't make a difference.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

office 2013 - removing 2010 - avoid Shutting down open 2010 programs

Hi

pretty much as topic..

when deploying office 2013 via sccm to users.. the setup will, without warning, close any 2010 programs that are open.

How can I avoid this?

Applications with two deployment types makes uninstall button in software center "greyed" out.

Hi

SCCM 2012 R2 running on Windows server 2012 with Windows 7 clients.

We are publishing applications to users that are available (not required), so that they can be downloaded from the application catalog web site. We have som applications that needs more then one deployment type (different pre requirements depending on OS architecture) and when I create two deployment types for one Application the uninstall button in Software center is greyed out? If i remove one of the deployment types so there is just one, well then the Uninstall button is available again.

An example is Itunes. I publish one Itunes application to the store that has two deployment types, one for X86 and another for X64 with requirments on OS architetcure. the correct version gets installed but the uninstall button is not possible to use. If i remove one of the deployment types then the deployment button is not greyed out.

Is this a bug?

Thanks everyone.

cmmac file size limitation

Hi everyone!

I have been bumping into a strange problem trying to deploy an application to a Mac with my SCCM 2012 R2. I can deploy applications to the Mac allright, I have tested up to arround 700 MB cmmac files with no problem.

But after trying to deploy a 4.1 GB large cmmac file to a Mac OS X 10.8.5 I am running into problems.

In the CCMClient.log fil I can see the cmmac file is downloaded successfully and it starts performing the content hash validation on the file. After sitting there for a while, the Configuration Manager client on the Mac says: "Communication with the client service has been lost", the CCMClient.log file starts from scratch as if the client crashes, and the process of downloading and hash validation starts from the beginning. I have tried removing the application and creating it again and even tried creating a new cmmac file of the application but to no avail...

Anyone in here aware of a file size limit on cmmac files? Or anyone seeing the same issue as I am? Anyone with a possible solution or suggestion what the cause of this problem could be?

Thanks in advance!

Best Regards

Holger

Past due - will be installed

Hi all,

we've been setting up app-deployment using SCCM 2012, and are going in to production in about a month. Now, we have a major problem.

None of the required apps are installing. They're simply stuck at "Past due - will be installed".

Indeed they are past due (all deployments are set to install as soon as possible), but absolutely nothing is happening (no it's not a matter of waiting, it's a dead halt). If we click 'install all required', everything installs perfectly. But obviously that's not an option.

The appenforce.log doesn't seem to be doing anything either; and it's not a problem with access to install source either; since all apps download fine, and THEN go into 'Past due...'.

I've also tried scheduling it to a time in the future, and then it just goes 'will be installed at (xx)' and once the deadline passes, it's 'past due' again.

So in summary; absolutely nothing is happening; and we've gone over the setup a million times, everything seems to be correct. We've also tried installing the agent on a clean (non-deployed) machine; virtual machines and with and without bitlocker. No difference.

We are seriously stuck. Help! :)

Problem with distribution of packages to distribution point servers

Hi all,

I have found problem during distribution of package to many of DP's servers in my organization. Strange is... only package generate problems - applications or updates packages are sending without any problems.

On System Status->Component status SMS_PACKAGE_TRANSFER_MANAGER there is:

Message ID: 8211 "Package transfer manager failed to update the package "XXXXXX".

I have checked PkgXferMgr.log and there is:

ExecStaticMethod failed (80041001) SMS_DistributionPoint, FinalizeContent
CSendFileAction::SendFiles failed; 0x80041001
Notifying pkgXferJobMgr
Sending failed. Failure count = 45, Restart time = 2/13/2014 1:05:14 PM Romance Standard Time

Next I have checked smsdpprov.log on DP server and there I have found many instances of this error:

I'm going mad with this :-( Thank you for all reply.

In What Order Does SCCM Install Applications

$

When we first image a machine, a bunch of software is then installed through SCCM. On these machines, the CCMCache folder shows that the applications were downloaded in the exact same order.

How can this order be adjusted? We have one particular software (web filtering agent) that should install first.

When we sort installed Softwares in software center by date, it does not sort it properly. It shows the results attached file. Does anyone has any ideas if this is a problem in Software Center or do I need to change any setting in SCCM?

Same Application, 2 deployment types to different users using Global conditions

$

We are trying to deploy one application with Application model, with one deployment types to one group of users,  and another deployment types to another groups of users, using global conditions. In Global conditions we have made custom Device conditions, check were the clients object exist in a specific OU in AD.

After this we expect that the correct deployment types will show correspond to the Global conditions but it just show the first with priority 1.

I have an idea that is not possible to have a Global Conditions with a device setting to a user deployment but i'm not sure.

Anyone experience the same?

Change detection method to rerun application

Hello,

If I want to rerun application, I do "Update Content" and change "Detection method".

I had some strange issues with Software Center after doing this but I believe it could work.

Is this a supported way to force rerun application ?

Thank you in advance,

Deploy Office 2013 with language pack

Hi,

We want to deploy Office 2013, for this I followed the tutorial: http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/office/How-to-Deploying-Office-0f954e7f

In the first step I need to make an MSP file, but this file doesn't get used in the deployment? I think this is a fault in the tutorial.
Also the uninstall string is setuP.exe /uninstall. Is this correct?

Second we want to deploy the dutch language pack with SCCM 2012, but I can't find out how. The package need to be installed but Office 2013 still need to be default language English.

Can someone help me out with this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, i need to find CM12 application (deployment type) source paths. select ContentSourcePath from fn_ListApplicationCIsWithLatestTime(1033) returns empty values in my environment.

I tried Select name, pkgsourcepath from v_package and i does return applications data as well but pkgsourcepath is empty for applications as well.

Check powershell cmdlet's but couldn't see content location in get-cmdeploymenttype.

Appreciate your suggestions in advance!

Running a reg file from a vb script

Hi,

I am trying to deploy a reg file from a vb script, but it is not working.  The script works fine when run manually.  I created a package pointing to the VB script and depolyed it to a test group.  It say the test group machines successfully completed it, but it did not make the registry changes.  At first I thought it was because of UAC, but I tried it on a computer that has UAC turned off.  Here is the script:

Set network = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Network")
Set fso = WScript.CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Set WshShell = Wscript.CreateObject("Wscript.Shell")
WshShell.run "regedit /S ""\\sccmservername\Source\Software Deployments\Scripts\Preview Pane\preview.reg""",0,True
WScript.Sleep 500

everyone has read access to this share.  Any ideas?

Thanks!

dbo.v_MeterData Does not contain any data

dbo.v_MeterData doesn't appear to contain any data.

I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing wrong here. Software Metering has been enabled and some of the other views i.e.. dbo.v_MeteredFiles have been populated with data but for reasons I haven't been able to uncover dbo.v_MeterData remains blank. Metering has been enabled for several weeks now so I would expect there to be something in there particularly considering the other views have content. Any insight into this issue would be appreciated.

Hey guys,

I need to deploy the Windows Management Framework 4.0 using the Application Model in SCCM 2012 R2. I've got all the silent install/uninstall commands figured out, the only place I'm hung up on is the detection method. Anyone know how I could address that?

(i.e. PowerShell, not the .NET Framework)
