Restricting Application Deployment

Hi,

SCCM newbie here..

Is there in any way in SCCM to make sure that a user installs approved software only from the Software catalog and not from any other source. For eg. If he has to install Office he can install only from the Software Center and not from any other media source.

APP-V not removing application

Hello,

I am not sure why my APP-V deployment is not getting removed. I have 2 User Collections:

InstallApp

UninstallApp

I added the user initially to InstallApp to get the APPV Client and APPV application installed. This part worked, after some fighting, but now I have moved the user into the UninstallApp and removed from the InstallApp. I have ran the User Policy Retrieval& Evaluation Cycle and the application is not getting removed. I do have a deployment set to Required/Uninstall for the UninstallApp collection. I checked the App Catalog and do not have the install anymore, which I shouldn't. What do I need to do to ensure that the published App gets removed?

I have seen other posts about collection queries, but currently I am working with 1 user so manually moving that user.

Thanks

Package Deployment Compliance Stuck at 0%

Hi all;

I'm trying to deploy a couple of packages using SCCM 2012 R2 running on Win2K8 R2 with no luck, knowing that I could install the packages on a test VM, but when trying to deploy the packages to production PC,packages deployment compliance stuck at 0%

Infrastructure:

3 SCCM servers: CAS, PRI & SEC. Both CAS and PRI are in the DataCenter site, and SEC is in the Office site. The office site has several IP subnets.

Boundaries are configured per AD sites since that the AD site should contain all the IP subnets the the AD site contains, Boundaries groups are also configured and a site reference server is configured for each group respectively.

A OU based Collection has been configured that contains 13 PC "the collection contains the PCs that the packages should be installed.

Packages are configured correctly since that I could successfully deploy the packages to the test VM which is on the same subnet as the CAS and the PRI servers "the DataCenter subnet". The issue is that I can't deploy the packages to production PCs in the Office subnet!

Firewall rules are configured and applied via GP, and I even turned Windows Firewall off, and still nothing! I tried to manually initiate Computer Policy download via the SCCM GUI and via a script, still no luck!

I tried configuring IP Subnet Boundaries, still no luck!!

What I'm I missing?

Please help...

Config Manager 2012 Application Depoyment stuck at "Downloading (0% complete)"

We have a Config Manager 2012 R2 setup with 2 Distribution Points on remote sites. In the remote site the Applications don't get downloaded, the status remains on 'downloading (0% complete)'

In the DataTransferService log I find the following errors:

Successfully sent location services HTTPS failure message. Error sending DAV request. HTTP code 600, status ''

GetDirectoryList_HTTP mapping original error 0x80072efd to 0x800704cf.

GetDirectoryList_HTTP('https://DPSERVER.OURDOMAIN.com:443/NOCERT_SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/1f90ce9d-d4a0-44c4-a1af-7ece7b1c0ef6') failed with code 0x800704cf.

Error retrieving manifest (0x800704cf). Will attempt retry 9 in 3600 seconds.

I've disabled the Firewall on both the client and the DP. No change The DP has a valid Web Server Certificate installed and the client has a valid workstation authentication certificate installed. If I open a browser and navigate to https://DPSERVER.OURDOMAIN.com:443/NOCERT_SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/PIT00004 it displays a 'IE cannot display this page' error. If I open the 'http://'-version of the url it throws an '403 - Access Denied' errorr (which is correct).

I'm currently stuck with it. Any suggestions as to where to look for a resolution?

Thanks in advance

Live meeting v806362.215 won't install with sccm 2012

I'm trying to install Live Meeting 2007 client v806362.215 under SCCM 2012 application model using the .MSI.  "I get a message that says the installer was interrupted before Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007 could be installed.  You need to restart the installer to try again." (see attached)

researching the message indicates that there was an issue with the elevated permissions (system account) that the install was trying to use.

Any help would be appreciated.

A computer stopped getting Endpoint Protection update. What logs should I begin with?

Hi,

I have a client computer that suddenly stopped updating definition updates.  All other machines are OK.  We are using ADR and the machine is in the proper collection.  We are also using SUS as the source of definition updates.

On the client machine, what log should I read to give me more information of what's going on?

Thanks!

Reverting VM is reinstalling Applications that are set to make available.

We have had an issue with VM's re-installing applications after we revert the snapshot.

we use the VM's to test our applications before we make it available to all PC's or users.

Just to clarify these applications are set to "Make Available" and not set to required.

Just as an example I installed Application XYZ using the software center then do my testing, once done I will revert the VM.

Then when I power the PC backup and it checks back into SCCM it will reinstall that app automatically even though this app is set to make available.

Has anyone else experienced this? The strange thing is it doesn't happen all the time, or it can take a day or 2 before we see the app/s reinstall.

I noticed someone else posted the same question but no solution was found.

The same issue he posted is what I'm getting.

"applications exhibiting this behavior have been made required. All I did was make them available, manually installed them once (just to test), then rolled back to a previous snapshot. After the rollback they reinstall automatically."

Application catalog point seemed to work fine for a few months, but randomly stopped a couple of weeks ago (dev and to go into production system hence not being picked up)

This is on SCCM 2012 R2.  Default installation of Web App Catalog (port 80, CMApplicationLog)

Tried uninstalling the Web catalog roles and reinstalling.  Installation of components goes well. Looking at the log file

Hello everyone,

My company is running SCCM to manage clients and deploy software. I found that almost computers got installed successfully but report and deployment status show not correct information. This is quite weird. Please take a look at screenshot.

Anybody has idea on it?

Application Fails to uninstall - Rule is in conflict with other rules

I am trying to troubleshoot an application uninstall issue, seems to be site wide. So far I have tried Adobe Flash and Office 2010, both fail to uninstall and cite error code 0x80040322 - Rule is in conflict with other rules and when I look at the conflicts I see that it is in conflict with the MSI required by the app?

These are applications imported using the MSI's.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

log for application detection?

Mighty all,

I wanted to know if there is a way to see on a client, what criteria are checked to declare an application as "discovered" or "not discovered". I'm struggling with successful detection of some apps and thus a log, where something like:

"starting discovery of an app ABC

checking MSI for GUID ... - checked

checking registry for TBD - not checked

app ABC not discovered, criteria `"registry`" not met"

would greatly help my quest.

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I am setting up APP-V and having a problem where a PS1 that is running is unsigned and I am getting an error that pre-req check is failing.

On the system that the script is running I have ExecutionPolicy set to unrestricted, so what is deciding to run the script or not? Is it the agent, and if so, how do I allow it, or is it the PC? Here is the contents for the PS1, which appears to have worked for others.

Does anyone have a script to create a domain (global or universal) group from a local computer group?

Deploying to computers in AD security group

I'm hoping this is simple. The site I'm at don't grant their servicedesk access to SCCM but do it via AD. So I'm creating the collections that point to AD groups and they add the users into the AD groups - apps install fine

However they now want to add computers to the AD group and it doesn't appear to install the software to the computers

Is there a way around this ? - I cant see a way under a device collection to identify AD group

Deploy Windows Management Framework 4.0 with SCCM

Hey guys,

I need to deploy the Windows Management Framework 4.0 using the Application Model in SCCM 2012 R2. I've got all the silent install/uninstall commands figured out, the only place I'm hung up on is the detection method. Anyone know how I could address that?

Application Catalog and APP-V

Hello,

I have an APP-V application "Bomgar Rep Console 14.1.2" that is deployed to a couple users. Problem is when I go to the Application Catalog and start the install it does the evaluation and fails.

From what I can tell my validation is correct. The client is a Windows 8 x64 so I have the appropriate requirements set and Installing App-V 5.0, Windows Management Framework 3.0 (If Windows 7), Microsoft .Net Framework 4 Full and Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable. Below is a spreadsheet showing the steps from the APP-V to the requirements along the way.

This is the logs in AppDiscovery.log for the validation.

Mandatory deployment after new client installs

Is it possible to have an application package mandatory for all new clients? We use Ghost to create our standard images and, after the technician adds the new computers to the correct domain, they install the SCCM client. There are a couple of applications that need to be in the domain before they're installed and the techs manually pull them down from SCCM currently. I'd like to automate this process for them, but I don't want the applications to push out to every PC on the domain again since they already have them.
