SCCM 2012 Run a vbscript

$

I've tried to piece together other posts on this topic but have yet to successfully do this.  Could someone please provide a step by step on how to run a vbscript with SCCM 2012 SP1?  Please be as detailed as possible, because I would like to understand the nuances of why a certain setting is being set and why certain selections are being selected.

I've tried many different settings but haven't found the correct combination or something.  If it matters, the vbscript copies a file from a network share available to everyone and also creates a shortcut to the company intranet site.  Everything tests out locally, but just cannot get this to work via SCCM 2012 SP1.  This is what I have to work.

Please just post a how to with as much detail as possible.  THANKS!!!

Software Update Deployment won't start - SCCM 2012

Hi

Using SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 CU1

Clients - Windows 7 / 8.1 /2008 R2/ 2012/ 2012 R2

I created a software update group and deployed it on a collection as a required deployment.

I checked that all the updates in the group are in the package on the DP used by my boundary.

I initiate a software update scan and it seems like the scan finishes successfully

I initiate a software update deployment and it seems that nothing really happens. no errors on the logs. nothing

the Software update is enabled in the client settings, the deployment is not expired... no group policy for WSUS is set...

If I create an available deployment I don't see it in the software center

it's not an option that all the updates are already installed on the clients. I have new ones that were never updated in my environment

kinda desperate... can't find what's the reason for the updates not being installed

any help will be appreciated!

logs are attached here:

Uninstall Application Source Location - SCCM 2012

Hi

I'll try to make it simple

I use SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 CU1

I have applications like Office 2010 & Lync 2010 that I've created an uninstall command line as well

the uninstall is based on batch from files from the content, meaning it's not a local MSI command line or something. I'm using the EXE to perform the uninstall.

I've created an uninstall deployment for those applications and when I follow the deployment type I see that 70% are successfully uninstalled but for the other 30% I get the error "0x80091007" with the description "the hash value is not correct"

when I checked one client manually - I saw this in the app enforce log:

so I've noticed the uninstall.bat is trying to run from C:\windows\system32 and not from the ccmcache. it doesn't even start to download the application content (the ccmcache folder is empty). it assumes it should be local.

on the same clients I try to make a test deployment of other applications and it works ok

I want to remind you that 70% of the clients are doing ok and had this uninstalls successfully.

I checked for antivirus and there's exclusion on all the clients for C:\Windows\CCMCache

the client version is identical

I can't find out why the uninstall doesn't trigger the sccm to download the content to the cache and then start the uninstall progress?!

the detection method are ok. otherwise the application discovery indicates the software is not installed.

any ideas what can I do?

btw... 30% is like a few 100s... so I'm trying to avoid configmgr client reinstallation, but I was hoping someone else had this issue before.

thanks

App-V app delivery on VDI slow, and in batches

Hi,

We have had serious issues with deploying app-v applications to our VDI machines. Most of these have been solved by updating to the recent SP2 for SCCM (R2 SP1) and App-V 5 SP3, and some other minor tweaks. However it still takes to much time for all applications to be available.

Our environment consists of:

  • SCCM 2012 R2 SP1
  • Horizon View 5.3
  • Windows 7 x64 VDI clients
  • App-V 5.0 SP3

When a user logs on to a vdi, it takes about 1-1,5 minute after the desktop is available before SCCM starts deploying user/group assigned applications. This is about a minute too long, but usable. However, usually only 1 or 2 applications are listed in Software Center and get installed.

To get the rest of the applications, the user either has to wait between 10 to 60 minutes before SCCM continues with the other applications, or the user has to trigger the application deployment action via the configmgr control panel resulting in installation of the remaining apps within minutes.

I have been looking at the log files but I just cannot see why it waits so long. Using policyspy from the configmgr toolkit, I can see that all the advertisements are listed under the requested tab. So the client should know there are more apps available.

What I do see, is that SCCM does not see the VDI clients as a floating nonpersistent VDI: Machine Changes Persisted = Yes. Not sure if that has any influence on deployment speed.

Any ideas? Where to look, what to set?

Thx,

Michel

PS. One of the highlights of SP2 was faster app-v application deployment, but I have no idea what to expect.

Hello Guys,

some Clients have Problems to show Application Deployments in Software Center. In Deployment Monitoring Tool I can see the Deployments. But if you select the Deployment I get the Error "DT cannot be empty". So I think the Policy isn't downloaded correctly.

Package Continues To Fail Weekly Content Validation

$

I have two packages that are distributed to four distribution points in a single distribution point group. Every Sunday when content validation runs, the two packages continue to fail content validation only on one of the four distribution points. The package is configured to copy the content to a package share on the distribution points.

The package has been deleted and recreated, but it still continues to fail content validation. An interesting note is that when the packages are notconfigured to copy the contents to a package share on the distribution points, they pass content validation.

When content validation does fail (when copy the content is set), the SMSDPMON log shows the following bad news.

[Package A]

My assumption is that the content library might be jacked. I am thinking that I might have to rebuild the distribution point. Does anyone have any other suggestions for troubleshooting and rectifying this situation? Is there a way to rebuild the content library without rebuilding the distribution point? The error code 0x80070003mentioned above, suggests the system cannot find the path specified. I have verified both paths exists... Whatever is occurring is beyond me.

Adobe Reader 11.0.12 & Supersedence

$

Hello,

Last year, I initially created Adobe Reader 11.0.08 as an application which has successfully been deployed to the majority of our fleet of workstations. We have now decided to upgrade to 11.0.12 (instead of the Document Cloud version) for security compliance.

I have created an application for 11.0.12 which is setup to successfully upgrade over v11.0.08 (with supersedence). There is a mechanism to remove the odd v9.x & v10.x versions still installed which also works well.

The problem I am experiencing are the other 11.0.X versions installed across our fleet (I have identified using a combination of reporting and asset compliance settings). Supersedence I believe is only designed to remove and replace an application that you have packaged into CM12 - correct me if I am wrong.

Does anybody have any recommendations on how to tackle the upgrade of other 11.X versions installed in a simple manner? The 2 ideas I have come up with are to either script the application to run an uninstallation first OR create slipstreamed versions of each Adobe Reader 11.x version and include in the supersedence (I would prefer using native SCCM features which work really well in our environment).

Thanks, Amiel

(Config Manager 2012 R2 environment)

Yes, I have looked at every other post that is out there. We still have random applications that get stuck at 0% downloading.

Background:

1) This application is located on the fallback DP (not the primary DP for this workstation location)

Troubleshooting so far:

1) checked boundaries, and they point to primary DP 1. If app isn't on that DP, it is setup to use fallback DP#9

2) checked application, and fallback is enabled on deployment type

3) killed the deployment, and rebuilt

4) killed the app, and rebuilt

5) LocationServices.log shows message: "Calling back with empty distribution points list" which leads me to believe it doesn't know to look to the fallback DP

6) CAS.log shows messages:

The number of discovered DPs(including Branch DP and Multicast) is 2 ContentAccess 3/26/2014 6:11:47 PM 7444 (0x1D14)
Calling back with the following distribution points ContentAccess 3/26/2014 6:11:47 PM 7444 (0x1D14)
Distribution Point='http://HEIMSCAT009.ahc.root.loc/NOCERT_SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/Content_69c31059-2a15-4158-9f15-4201feb61fc7.1', Locality='REMOTE' ContentAccess 3/26/2014 6:11:47 PM 7444 (0x1D14)
Distribution Point='http://HEIMSCAT009.ahc.root.loc/SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/Content_69c31059-2a15-4158-9f15-4201feb61fc7.1', Locality='REMOTE' ContentAccess 3/26/2014 6:11:47 PM 7444 (0x1D14)

What's weird, is that it's pointing to an HTTP address, but we only allow HTTPS connections with PKI Cert. When I type in the same path to the DP, but use HTTPS, it finds it right away.

Why is the CAS trying to tell the client to download the app from the HTTP url? Is it a configuration issue with IIS on the DP?

7) I checked the IIS Log on the fallback DP, and don't see any entries from the IP Address of the requesting machine

I give up...

Deploying applications to Terminal Server.

Hi,

Brief question, when deploying applications to a terminal server, setting the deployment to 'no user logged on' is fine but do you need to script putting the server in install mode and then execution mode either side of the deployment, i.e make the script a dependencie?.

Thanks

Hi All,

Request for your Support to Fix the SCUP Integration with WSUS & SCCM 2012 R2 CU5

We are planning to use SCUP Integrate with SCCM 2012 R2 in our Environment, for the Non-Microsoft Patch Deployment

WSUS, SCCM (Standalone Primary Site Server), SCUP 2011 are in the Same Machine

Using PKI Certificate:

We are able to Import the Catalog File's but none of the Patches are getting shown in the Configuration Manager Console.

Other Settings:

1. Verified the Connection between WSUS & Config Mgr Site

2. Certificate is Valid and it is Imported on Trusted Publisher, and Trusted Root Certificate Authority

3. Package Threshold size is verified during the Integration and it is 100 MB

4. From the Config Mgr Console, Verified the Products & Classifications are Verified in the Software Update Point

5. Ran the Synchronization and able to see only the Microsoft Updates are showing in the Wsyncmgr.Log

So far Tried with Non-Microsoft Vendor's:

1. Adobe Acrobat Reader XI

2. Adobe Reader XI

3. Fujitsu

4. HP Software Updates

WSUS & SCCM is performing Microsoft Patch Download, and deployment without any issues.

Please find the SCUP.LOG File, and Request your Help:

JAVA

I am trying to uninstall JAVA on workstations if the application has not been used for more than 90(for example) days. There are multiple versions of JAVA on our network, so I have made different collections for workstations using a specific java version. Is there a way to just have one script uninstall any version of JAVA that has not been used in a certain time frame or will I have to have a specific script for each version. Any information would be helpful as I have only found scripts to uninstall all versions of JAVA. Thanks

SCCM 2012 Packages do not show in Software Center on Server 2008 clients

Hi,

SCCM 2012 R2 CU4. Packages deployed to Server 2008/2008 R2 Clients won't Show in Software Center. On All other Clients they Show (Client OS/Server 2012). No platform requirement is set on These package programs. Verified behaviour on 3 different 2008/2008R2 Servers.

Here's my Troubleshooting:

After deployment/machine policy update, according to logs, the policy is retrieved fine
execmgr.log:
Raising client SDK event for class CCM_Program, instance CCM_Program.PackageID="<sitecode>0002B",ProgramID="Install-DE", actionType 6l, value NULL, user NULL, session 4294967295l, level 0l, verbosity 30l

PolicyEvaluator.log
Applying policy <sitecode>20030-<sitecode>0002B-EBEDBF21
Applied policy CCM_Policy_Policy5.PolicyID="<sitecode>20031-<sitecode>0002B-EBEDBF21",PolicySource="SMS:<sitecode>",PolicyVersion="1.00"
Policy state for [CCM_Policy_Policy5.PolicyID="<sitecode>20030-<sitecode>0002B-EBEDBF21",PolicyVersion="1.00",PolicySource="SMS:<sitecode>"] is currently [Active]

Then I checked WMI, I found everything allright there too:

gwmi -Namespace root\ccm\policy\machine\requestedconfig -Class ccm_policy_policy4|where PolicyID -like '*02B*'

DownloadSource   : http://<mp>/SMS_MP/.sms_pol?<sitecode>20032-<sitecode>0002B-EBEDBF21.2_00
PolicyCategory   : SoftwareDistribution
PolicyCookie     : 2015-08-07 11:03:15.570
PolicyState      : Active
PolicyType       : Machine

gwmi -namespace ROOT\ccm\Policy\Machine\ActualConfig -class CCM_SoftwareDistribution | where PKG_PackageID -like '*02B*'

Here I found the package program too, doublechecked all the Settings (dependency, etc..) seems OK.

But then "gwmi -Namespace ROOT\ccm\ClientSDK -Class ccm_program"is empty, however on a machine where it appears in Software Center this Class Returns its properties.

Finally IMHO that proves it might be a bug: If I deploy the Package/Program with a Deadline, it gets installed at the given time (this eliminates requirement Problems).

I tried to trick that I enabled 'Show in Software Center' only after the mandatory deployment, and hoped it'll Show up in Installed Software, but it did not.

Weird though that I did not find any related reports, or maybe I do my search wrong :)

SCCM application download with Maintenance window...

I want sccm clients to download and install around 2 GB size application during the maintenance windows of 6 hours during night time. The link speed is only 1 MB which means it will take them few days to download and install the application.

1) Will SCCM client will start caching the application from the same point where it left during the last maintenance window or will it start all over again the next day if it fails to download and cache the application during the last maintenance window?

2) How can i make sure this big application installs on Deadline on Clients? should i schedule the deployment ahead of time or should i define the 'Deadline' in Scheduling during deployment?

Query and collection query, easily switch?

Hi,

In sccm there is a query and a collection query. Not fully aware what the difference is + would like to reuse some collection queries in normal queries, is there an easy way to transfer?

Please advise.

Help with sccm query

Hi,

I have this query in SCCM in which I try to get all the App-V packages which start with X.
Reason: we renamed the application and did some other manipulations (made an application for users, one for computers) so now I'd like to verify what's exactly on those computers.

This works but I see pc's listed 3 or 4 times which I don't get.

Please advise.

J.

This is the query:

select SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.Name, SMS_G_System_AppClientState.AppName from  SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM on SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId inner join SMS_G_System_AppClientState on SMS_G_System_AppClientState.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_AppClientState.AppName like "%X%"

Query App-V package deployment TYPE (not App-V application)?

Hi,

Is there a way to query the deployment TYPE on a client? You can query the application but if I check the SMS_G_System_APPV_CLIENT_PACKAGE.Name values are empty.
Do I need to collect this info extra on the clients?

How to query devices by Operating System

I am trying to build a query in SCCM 2012 R2 to look for devices that is still running Windows XP Professional.  Below is the query statement that I used to ask SCCM to prompt for Operating System entry.  The query ran without prompting and return zero row of data.  Any idea why it does not prompt me to enter Operating System?

Thanks,

Brian.

select distinct SMS_R_System.NetbiosName,
SMS_R_System.LastLogonUserName,
SMS_R_System.OperatingSystemNameandVersion,
SMS_R_System.operatingSystem,
SMS_R_System.operatingSystemVersion
from  SMS_R_System
where SMS_R_System.operatingSystem like ##PRM:SMS_R_System.operatingSystem##
