Is it possible to create an App-V v5 application package in SCCM that references an external IIS\HTTP location (https://server.com/apps/program.appv) instead of a share location (\\server.com\apps\program.appv)?
We would like to leverage the IIS\HTTP app content location that is already in use with a full App-V infrastructure without importing the actual .appv content into the SCCM infrastructure.
I'm thinking the answer is no because of the way SCCM integrates with the App-V client and gets the client to look at a local SCCM distribution point using the location provider, but I want to be sure.
Lately we installed several BRIO wireless presentation devices here in the building. These BRIOs are connected to large touch
screen TVs in our meeting rooms.People can connect to these BRIOs through WLAN and stream content from their laptops to the meeting room displays (presentations, videos, ..).
That can be done from Android/Apple devices and Windows PCs.For Windows PCs, you can either use the built-in Win7 tool netproj.exe or use aseparate tool from the BRIO vendor.
The latter is what we want to deploy here.
It is called ‘BRIO Screen Projector’ and has one major advantage that apart from video it can stream audio too. Audio is not possible with netproj.exe.
It appears to be quite a simple tool. Installation runs without an interaction. Once installed you enter the desired BRIO name or IP and connect. That’s it.
Only problem is with manual installation; this requires admin rights . How can I distribute this package without making it available in Application catalog,
as if I make it available, again it requires admin rights... any better source to distribute will relieve me from stress!!
Even following step by steps, my deployments are stuck on client machines saying "Waiting to begin the installation" and then "Past due - will be installed"
I made sure "Additional software manages the deployment" is already set to NO
Maintenance window is not an issue:
Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
Also if I push any other application, eg: 7 zip. it works just fine.
I'm required to upgrade IE9 to IE11 to 1000+ Win7 clients. The business do not want to enable Update Rollups which rules out using the SUP and anyway, they would like IE11 installed as part of the OSD. I am going through my experience to help other people
and whether there's anything people can add.
I tried creating a new IE msi using IEAK and including all the prerequisites, optional updates and hotfix (KB2898202) using the link below:
This fails due to an internet connection being needed to download the updates even though they have been included in the package. C:\windows\IE11_main.log shows this with the message 'error downloading prerequisite file'. The Link below :
The link above also suggests a script to run which I have tried manually with success. Tomorrow I will try using that method through SCCM and update this post tomorrow. Shame that the IEAK doesn't let you package everything up together though.
I'm looking for a query which shows only applications (App-v) which are REALLY on the machine.
This query shows also applications which WERE on the machine before:
select distinct SMS_R_System.Name, SMS_R_System.Client, SMS_G_System_AppClientState.AppName from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_AppClientState on SMS_G_System_AppClientState.MachineName = SMS_R_System.Name where SMS_G_System_AppClientState.AppName
like "%Application%"
Reason why I'm asking: my machine collection "installed application x" is showing machines which DON'T have that application anymore.
Easy question, I setup and Application for the net framework 4.0, i use a batch file instead of running the Exe itself, so basically in the batch is this:
@echo off
Title Installing .NET Framework 4
@echo Installing .NET Framework 4
dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe /q /norestart
What do i have to put for the CMD black install windows do not apppear?? Or do i have to setup in the deployment that the messages do not appear? Please let me know, and thanks!
some Clients have Problems to show Application Deployments in Software Center. In Deployment Monitoring Tool I can see the Deployments. But if you select the Deployment I get the Error "DT cannot be empty". So I think the
Policy isn't downloaded correctly.

I want to install the driver of a Xerox Phaser 3320 on machines in a task sequence. For that I created an application with execution command "install_drv.cmd". This batch includes the simple command:
@echo off "%~dp0dpinst64.exe" /a /s
The package includes these files and folders:
amd64
Common
DATA
i386
Printer
AUTORUN.INF
CD.Ver
dpinst64.exe
install_drv.cmd
SetAlti.exe
Setup.dat
Setup.exe
Ssres.dll
sxr1m.cat
sxr1m.inf
sxr1mc.xml
sxr1mp.xml
sxr1mpp.ver
VERSION.VER
Arrived at the install step the TS is always in error.

Maybe it's the returning code 0x100 that SCCM can't read??? Or is it the version of dpinst (2.1.0) which is old?
We have sccm 2012 r2, and im trying to deploy an application. i did all steps ( create - distribute content - deploy to collection ), then on client pc i update all actions on configuration manager then open software center but nothing is there. how to track
/ check if there is any error or im i missing any steps.
I have two packages that are distributed to four distribution points in a single distribution point group. Every Sunday when content validation runs, the two packages continue to fail content validation only on one of the four distribution points. The package
is configured to copy the content to a package share on the distribution points.
The package has been deleted and recreated, but it still continues to fail content validation. An interesting note is that when the packages are notconfigured to copy the contents to a package share on the distribution points, they pass content validation.
When content validation does fail (when copy the content is set), the SMSDPMON log shows the following bad news.
[Package A]

My assumption is that the content library might be jacked. I am thinking that I might have to rebuild the distribution point. Does anyone have any other suggestions for troubleshooting and rectifying this situation? Is there a way to rebuild the content
library without rebuilding the distribution point? The error code 0x80070003mentioned above, suggests the system cannot find the path specified. I have verified both paths exists... Whatever is occurring is beyond me.
I have SCCM2012 R2, i create 3 applications SYNERGIX, NET FRAMEWORK 4.0 and a HOT FIX for the net framework.
How is the best practice for this distribution, Synergix needs the Netframework and the hot fix installed.
I know how to setup depency for the Synergix of netframework, but i want to deploy the Net framework and the hot fix together, should i create a program under packages? Or do it do a batch file to run it with the Net framework. thanks
We have a SCCM 2012 R2 deployment and I am trying to deploy an application "BIOS Updates" which contains multiple scripted deployment types arranged by priority.
Below is an example of this:
Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
The vbscript used in the detection method is:
'Change strBIOSUpdateVersion to the version you are deploying to
strBIOSUpdateVersion = "A05"
'Get BIOS Version from Win32_BIOS
Set objWMI = GetObject("winmgmts:{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\.\root\cimv2")
Set colBIOS = objWMI.ExecQuery("Select * from Win32_BIOS")
For Each objBIOS In colBIOS If objBIOS.SMBIOSBIOSVersion >= strBIOSUpdateVersion Then WScript.Echo "Detected" End If
Next
In some situations you cannot update BIOS from lets say A01 straight to A21, you need A05 then A08 before you can move to A21.
So the idea is I have all 3 published and my detection script will compare the current BIOS version on the system to the one in the scripted application and install the new BIOS if the installed one is a lower version.
The problem is if I have a laptop with bios version A01, then A05, A08 and A21 are all applicable but they need to be applied in the correct sequence otherwise the bios update will error and tell you "You need to update to A05 to get to A08" or"You need to update to A08 to get to A21".
So I was going to use the priority higher/lower settings to prioritize which scripted install goes first. So with that in mind and my current setup being like this:
1. E6420_A05
2. E6420_A08
3. E6420_A21
It should start with #1, run the vbscript and see that the app is not installed and proceed with installing. Then next time it runs (which I assume it will because there are 3 packages?), it will attempt #1 but will get a STDOUT message making SCCM think
it is already installed and move to #2, then to #3.
But this is not happening, it seems that only E6420_A21 is getting applied at all times. I tried to switch up the priority order so that..
1. A21
2. A08
3. A05
As i've read somewhere that in SCCM the order of things is backwards, but this does not help.
This has happened a few times now over the last couple of weeks. At first I thought it was just a once-off bug, but it keeps coming back and I can't see any patterns to identify the cause or trigger.
Sometimes when I start a Deployment from the Software Center the Status gets stuck at "Installing" and never moves beyond that. It has happened for OSD task sequences as well as Package/programs. In both cases the same Deployment works on other machines,
or has worked on this same machine previously. It's not always the same programs, and there seems to be no particular pattern I can find to cause it.
Restarting the SMS Agent doesn't resolve, it just comes up as "Installing" again after the agent has restarted. I've tried clearing the adverts from the client and no difference, restarting the computer also makes no difference... it just comes back as "Installing"
If I remove the computer from the deployment, it dissapears from the Software Center, and when I add the deployment back again it re-appears in Software Center as "Installing" again.
Doing a client repair (ccmrepair) doesn't fix it. Doing a client re-install (with always re-install) doesn't fix it either. I have to completely remove the existing client and reinstall to clear the problem, but that makes the client then appear
as a completely new device in CM12 so that's not a very reasonable resolution.
The only log entry I can find that seems to indicate an error is in execmgr.log where an entry saying "OnContentAvailable invalid request GUID handle" appears several times. I have no idea what it means. Running the same deployment on another computer works
fine.
I'm testing with App-V deployment types & Requirements
On a certain test application (Kodi) I've got 2 deployment types, each whith its own requirement.
One for the App-V 5 client.
I check If "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\AppV" exists
One for the App-V 4 client.
I check If "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\AppV" does not exists
It seems to work, but I can't find a client logfile where these requirements are evaluated.
Is there one? The only one I can find is the AppDescovery.log (on the client with App-V 4):
"+++ Did not detect app deployment type Kodi 15 v0.1 - Microsoft Application Virtualization 5(ScopeId_9EC5DCAB-C0DC-483F-982F-7CCC77096604/DeploymentType_60db500a-4762-453f-a583-b86169cfee66, revision 4) for S-1-5-21-484763869-682003330-725345543-18119.AppDiscovery12-8-2015 9:01:282784 (0x0AE0)"
So I have created a script based application which seems to successfully install through the software center. It seems successful because the script runs, but the software center status is stuck at Installing and so this prevents me from installing
any other updates because they will have to wait for the install to finish. What is keeping this status at installing? I have seen other forums talking about service dependencies, but it didn't work. Any help is appreciated!
We have this hotfix V which we need to install (AppV5.0SP3_RDS_KB3060458).
However, I cannot find it in the hotfixes, so I could use get-hotfix|Where-Object{$_.HotFixID-match"KB3060458"}
There is also no msi code. Please advise howto detect the most appropriate way.
Hi - have a package which uses XCOPY to copy files to the target machine.
The command line works as expected and the files are delivered correctly.
However in Software Center the status hangs on 'Installing' and eventually goes to 'Failed'
Can i amend my command line to send something back to SCCM to say its done? Or is there something in the Package set up i can configure to confirm the package has been delivered (similar to 'Detection Method' for Applications).
We recently disocvered that shortcuts dissapear in App-V packages or just aren't there.
*For terminal server users this could be related to "migration mode", we enabled it recently and seems ok for now.
*For Windows pc's this is related to the fact we uninstall the physical application afterwards. The option to change the name of the folder/shortcut is not valid for us so we need to find another solution. Not sure if we should enable migration mode for computers
also/if this would help in this case(?)

I was thinking to deploy an extra application which does a simple repair with a stop of the package (since the repair in the App-V GUI doesn't bring back the shortcut), f.e.
Get-AppvClientPackage -name *xmind* | Stop-AppvClientPackage -Global | Repair-AppvClientPackage -Global or even publish this package so users can repair it theirselves.
However, that's quite some overload (creating this for every app-v package).
What's your experience with this?
Please advise.
