Global Condition using "Active Directory query"

$

Greetings.

Using SCCM 2012.

My goal is to create a Global Condition using the Setting Type "Active Directory query" (from the drop-down list in the Create Global Condition wizard) that lists the AD Groups of the Computers.  Then, for Deployment Types, I can specify a Requirement that uses the Global Condition to verify whether the Computer is a member of a specified Group.

For example...
For these Deployment Types:
Priority 1 - AppX(with only Feature1) - needs to install to Computers in the AppX Collection that are members of AD Group called AppX-Feature1
Priority 2 - AppX(with only Feature2) - needs to install to Computers in the AppX Collection that are members of AD Group called AppX-Feature2

Note please:
I know there are a few ways to do this.
I do not want to use a Script or any other "Setting Type"
I do not want to use multiple collections (I am already doing this...that is, building 2 Collections (using WQL queries that check the same group memberships mentioned above), building 2 Apps, and deploying one app to one collection, the other app to the other collection.
I DO want to use the feature provided by SCCM....Global Condition | Active Directory query.  It's here, I would like to use it.  But documentation explaining what to enter in the fields in the Create Global Condition wizard seems non-existent, and I'm stumped.

So...
I need to see an example of what to enter into the fields of the Create GC wizard that will return all of the groups the computer(s) belongs to.
And I need to see an example of what to specify in the DT Requirement settings.  I've noticed the Operator options in the Requirement change depending on whether you select String (Equals, Contains, One of, etc.) or String Array (All Of is the only option, which puzzles me) as the Data Type in the GC.  I assume a list of groups would be a String Array.

I have read through a few threads that have started with this same question, but ended in unproductive debates about whether it should be done this way or in alternatives to do it with some other alternative.  Please refrain from steering this post into similar directions.  I am ok with this sitting until accurate and to-the-point answers arrive.

The difficulty in testing the Global Condition settings begs for better documentation (and admittedly, for me to have a better understanding with using LDAP queries).  I can get my LDAP browser and the Powershell Get-ADPrincipalGroupMembership to list groups for a specified computer.  I just can't translate the query into the Required fields in the SCCM GC wizard (see pic).

Thanks in advance.

Custom Global Condition as Application Installation requirement

Hello,

I have a problem with the use of a custom global condition used as requirement to deploy an application to a user collection:

I have a collection for users to install Office 2010 SP2, set as available, which is fine.

I'm trying to deploy Office Proofing tools for office 2010, to the same collection, but as required.

What I did so far:

Create Global Condition named Office check

Device type: Windows

Condition Type: Setting

Setting Type: File system

Type: File

Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14

File or Folder name: WINWORD.EXE

Step 2:

I have created the application (Proofing tools) and added the following requirement:

Category: Custom

Condition: office check

Rule type: Value

Property: File Version

Operator: Greater than or equal to

Value: 14.0.7015.1000

For testing purposes I've deployed the Proofing tools as available on my test user and got the following results:

First trying to install Proofing tools on the machine without office results in a message saying that the requirements are not meet, which is what we expected.

Trying to install the Proofing tools on the machine after the installation of office 2010, will start the installation without any problems.

The problem I have is the following:

After uninstalling Proofing tools and Office,
and trying to Install Proofing tools without Office, the installation starts.

This should not happen. Is there some registry key, or file on the machine that retains that the condition is still fulfilled even if I have removed the file that should be checked?

Thank you.

SCCM 2012 Deploy --- Error = The software change returned error code 0x87D00324(-2016410844).

Deployment to the client is successful but the error reported within Clients "SCCM Software Center"

The software change returned error code 0x87D00324(-2016410844).

Also States on "Status" Past Due - Will be Retired"

Can't figure this one out and I did some googling with no success in finding a solution?

I am running an Adobe Flash install (.EXE)

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated

App installation not starting until next AppDiscovery cycle

Hi!

I got a situation, the reasons of which I can not explain to myself:

1) Created app with dependencies (All for system install independed of user presence.)

2) Deployed to collection with install as soon as possible

3) After HW discovery cycle app policy received by target system. APPDiscovery log shows    "ActionType - Install will use Content Id: Content_9a9d88e9-5ecd-4196-b97a-cee2abacd343 + Content Version: 1 for AppDT" for app and it dependencies.

4) After about an hour app and all dependencies was downloaded to CCMCache by BITS

BUT app installation was not instantly started after download as I thought. It started on next AppDiscovery cycle next day.

This prevents the quick installation of applications and I do not understand where to look for the cause of this behavior

I am asking for some help.  I seem to be missing something but can't find what it is.

I am trying to make some very simple applications or packages.  I have been concentrating on applications but having only limited success.

This is using Windows 2012R2 SCCM on mostly Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit clients.  The applications are very simple at this point.  Batch files work but for some reason I can't just copy the one line batch command into the application and get it to work.  It always returns with "failed" and I can't find the application in any of the log files on the client or server that give any indication what is failing.  Right now I am just calling the batch file and it fails...after it downloads from the distribution point and installs.  In this case it is actually uninstalling a previous product and the next application will be the installer for the upgraded version so they will be chained but first I have to get them working and I am not seeing a connection.  The applications and package are so simple there should be no issue with working.  When I tried to copy the one line batch command into the command string it fails after downloading from the dp.  The batch command is:

"%~dp0setup.exe" -s -f1"%~dp0unsetup.iss" -f2"%Temp%\Removal.log"

The command works if run from the run box on the client or when the batch file is called from the public share but fails when called via sccm.  The application is given system rights.  The application is available (at this point) and is present for device collections as well as some user collections.  The application is downloaded from the dp and run locally on the client.

My coworkers seem to have the same issue as they all just call batch files but that does not help me with more complicated applications if we can't even get a simple one line command to actually work.  I have done a lot of looking online for a step by step but I have not seen anything that I have not done.

Thank you for your time and help.

SCCM server died

I just finished installing and configuring SCCM.  My clients were reporting just fine. Over the weekend we had an issue with VMWare and Guess which server is unrecoverable.  So the question I have is, Can I install SCCM in my environment with the same site name/code?

Also I made a distribution Point on my print server.  The shares are still there.  Can I just delete them?  Is there other software/services/registry I need to delete?

Thank you

Software Center Failed Status: "There is not enough temporary space reserved..."

Working on the Application deployment job for Microsoft Office Visio 2010. Have had some issues related to the setup files and made adjustments to the job in CM. After my last change to the job I tried to install again and I got the Failed Status error that"There is not enough temporary space reserved to download the software. You can use the Configuration Manager control panel applet to adjust the available temporary space."

I then:

- Moved the ccmcache files manually and then used CM applet to Delete Files
- Application Deployment options: set to "Do not download content"
- Application is 3636MB and does not exceed 5120MB cache setting
- Power cycled computer
- Ran ccmrepair.exe

Still getting Failed Status.

Thoughts?

hey guys

I packaged up a Putty to stream via App 5 V and tested on my machine (win7x64 and another machine Win8x64)

Tested on a collegue's machine who is also running Win7x64 and it failed on his:

AppEnforce.log shows:

CAppV5XHandler::PublishAppVComponentsForDT() failed. (0x80004005)

    CAppV5XHandler::InstallApp() failed. (0x80004005)

I deployed it to a user based collection and installed it via application catalog

MP Software download issues post configmgr 2012 R2 SP1 upgrade

Hi,

Up until upgrading our CM 2012 R2 environment to R2 SP1 we had no issues either deploying applications via software center or during OSD.

Since we installed the R2 SP1 update we see issues in OSD with errors stating "Application Download Failed"

Also on the management point within the MP_Status log I see a lot of "Mp Status: processing event: SoftDistDownloadFailedEvent, for machine xxxxx

I see no raised issues within the console on the monitoring tab of the site or components.

I noticed the only apps that will install during OSD are the ones that had their deployments set to "do not download" within the content tab. Any that are set to "download content from distribution point and run locally" fail in the task sequence.

Anyone seen this before?

Cheers

SCCM 2012 SP1 software updates: The software change returned error code 0x87D0070C(-2016409844).

On my Windows Server 2012 servers some, but not all updates fail with the error: The software change returned error code 0x87D0070C(-2016409844).

The SCCM 2012 SP1 DP's and MP are online (and as said: Some updates succeed).

What doe the mentioned error mean and how can this be troubleshooted?

Regards,

Stephan van der Plas

This not a  Secondary Site issue  because we don't use them.

Application Catalog Error

The security information for this application could not be verified

This only happens for a few endpoints but not others

I have uninstalled the client and re-installed the client  same error

Delete the Cert and readd  same error.

Is it possible to reset Software Center?

Referencing another file in the source during application deployment detection testing fails

Part of my detection script references a value in a CSV file.  I stored this CSV file along with the actual deployment.  Unfortunately, detection is failing as it cannot detect the .CSV file! I stored the CSV file in the content source directory, which is then in turn distributed to the other distribution points.

The part of the detection script that fails is as follows (note I've also tried with .\ACMECSV.csv).  An excerpt from the application

$CSV = import-csv ACMECSV.csv

<![LOG[    In-line script returned error output: Import-Csv : Could not find file 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\ACMECSV.csv'.

I'm wanting to reference the CSV file I have placed in the deployment share.  I don't want to use the UNC path as it defeats the purpose of using a distribution point! Is there a variable that I can perhaps use that will reference the source content folder?

Need to deploy an application with supercedence and a dependency

I need to deploy a French version of an application which is dependent upon the English version of the application being installed. That's because there is only ever the need to have the English version installed or both English and French version.

That's the first part.

I need it to supercede the previous version of the application and uninstall both French and English previous versions if they exist.

I'm testing my deployment now, I have the supercedence working just not the dependency portion.

I'm curious about my approach.  Is a single application the best approach here?

I'd love any feedback.

Symantec Error deployment

Guys

This was a working deployment, i add it to a OSD task sequence, and it failed everytime.   The logs of the the OSD failed task sequence its just below.  After the OSD finish, i add the device to a collection where i have that deployment, and the error in software center said  (There is not enough temporary space reserver to download the software).  If i manually add more cache in the client configuration manager it start working.   How is the best way to resolve this?  This Symantec its not from a MSI, its an EXE because it have somethings setup inside, we just execute that Exe and it install the symantec without problems on the background.

In case needed, here is what i get in the OSD logs , they do not mention nothing about Cache.

Description
