Adding Reg Key

Hi,

We want to create a new registry and deploy it to computers (via SCCM).

This particular ExtensionDebugLevel key is to enable additional logging for LAPS implementation. There are two parts:

1. LAPS (x64) + (x32) deployment packages. This is to deploy the LAPS CSE onto computers.

2. A package to create the ExtensionDebugLevel registry key onto computers:

command line: regedit.exe /s addregkey.reg - the addreskey.reg is point to data source in a network drive.

Addreskey.reg file:

The ExtensionDebugLevel key however is being created in the C:\Windows\Syswow64 folder instead of the c:\Windows folder.

I have also tried command line: C:\Windows\Regedit /s addregkey.reg, but no luck.

The test computer is running x64 and Windows 7 OS.

How to create the new registry in the appropriate registry location (the C:\Windows)?

SCCM 2012 - Unable to deploy 64 bit applications on 64 bit OS (Windows 7 & 8.1)

SCCM 2012

I have been unsuccessful deploying 64 bit applications on Windows 7 and 8.1 x64. 

Is there a x64 bit SCCM client?  Is there a way to check if the x64 is installed on the client?

I am able to install some 32 bit applications on the x64 OS without issues, but have issues with all the x64 applications.

On the most recent MS Silverlight x64 application, the package deploys to the computer and shows up in the Software Center.  Installs, shows up in add and remove programs, but will not work.  I can install it through the silent command without issue and it works then.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hey Everyone,

I have an application with an Uninstall file.  I can double click it to uninstall, but I want sccm to do it.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Applicationxyz\unins000.exe

How can I set this up?  A kick in the right direction would be great.

I am assuming this must be relatively easy?

I am looking for help deploying Microsoft Dynamics AX Client with SCCM 2012. I have successfully deployed the client prerequisites and the client itself but if the Microsoft Office add-ins need to be installed I am not sure how to deploy these separately without sending the whole 4GB application package down to the client again. I would like to be able to take the specific component and install it without the rest of this install. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Using SCCM 2012 to deploy appx packages

How can i deploy a appx package to all my desktops using SCCM.

Here is the scenario, I received an appx package and management wants to deploy it out to the Windows 10 desktops and tablets. They want to make it available in "Software Center" and when the user need the application they can install it.

Another request is that they want the application to populate in the start menu of the device. I am trying to avoid using anything other than SCCM.

Application Deployment Status is Incorrect

Our environment is SCCM 2012 R2 SP1

Primary Server Plus Four Secondary Site Servers (we have over 1000's DPs)

Scenario

Deploying an application to a small group of computers...about 270 workstations.\

I started getting status messages in the console, under Monitoring, Deployments

Successful systems started populating...then suddenly they stopped coming in.  I looked at the In Progress and it shows the remaining systems either in status Waiting for Content or Content Downloaded.  Please note, the Waiting for Content are false, as the content is at the distribution site. I know this because...

I got impatient, and I started checking random appenforce.logs on systems in both of these status messages.  Sure enough they showed the application installed and was detected.

SO...my question...why and how do I troubleshoot my false status messages?  Where would I trace these back? I imagine there is an inbox they are stuck in somewhere?  Some queue of messages that got dumped? 

I even created a new deployment, and collection of the same systems, and the status messages for the new deployment show the same results. 

Very frustrated as from a reporting perspective I actually can't show factually that the deployments worked (especially when in a couple of weeks this is going out to over 10,000 systems, not just a handful).

User not receiving all APP-V application

Hi All,

One of my User facing issue receiving some of the APP-V application on machines from one specific location. User is using desktop machine. In rest all locations when he login to any machine using his ID he received all App-V application. However if the same user login to some of the machines in one specific location he is just getting few of the application not all.

I have tested with my account - by adding the same groups to my account and when I logon to any system it works fine for me. I have checked the SCCM logs and everything appears OK.

Please advise


Only 1 Client - DTS job faild

Hi all

I installed a new hardware client with sccm 2012. During the os deployment several applications are installed. Everything fine. As soon as the computer is finished i can't deploy applications to this client.

What have i done:

1. reboot client and sccm server --> no luck
2. deinstall sccmclient on client --> reboot --> reinstall sccmclient on client system --> no change
3. completly removed the client from SCCM and importing again + completly reinstall windows 7 on client hardware

SCCM tells at Component and Site Status everything is ok.

What is wrong here?

Uninstall question...

I created an uninstall job to remove MS Project 2013; this job targets several computers. I noticed that the job's stuck at around 70%, andit's been almost 5-days since I created the job. I know the computers are on the network and reachable.

For future uninstall jobs, is there a way to 'force' or 'expedite' these jobs?

let me introduce myself, i'm iyus an Internal IT in one of small company in indonesia. I've configured sccm 2012 R2 on our production segment with RTM released,

I want to ask about office 2010 deployment in SCCM 2012 R2.

what i want to ask is :

  1. what is the log file for software deployment beside execmgr.log ?
  2. i have deploy office 2010 in two different device collection a few days ago but till now the software doesn't show in software center (client) or even in software catalog, i have followed office documentation from prajwal from this link http://prajwaldesai.com/how-to-deploy-microsoft-office-2010-using-sccm-2012/  is there something hidden step or something that i am missed from this documentation?
  3. I'm installed the SCCM & SQL are not on default path ( E:\ Path), is this could be caused the office deployment problem?

Hello all,

I try to deploy MS Dynamics CRM 2015 Outlook Plugin. The Installation itself works, but obviously, I also need to configure it.

To configure a site, you have to have the credentials stored in Credential Manager.

Doing this manually is pretty easy, just run 
cmdkey /generic:Microsoft_CRM_https://orgname.domain.com/ /user:%username%@%userdnsdomain% /pass

Unfortunately, you cannot do this in an elevated user session. The user gets prompted for his password, but can't be stored. Configuration fails -> Users call helpdesk.

So, basically I try to install a Microsoft addon for a Microsoft product into a Microsoft product installed on a Microsoft product using a Microsoft product. And it doesn't work!

Application Supersedence on User Collection - Automatically supersede on install/available

Hi all,

I have an application for the sake of the topic named App1. I've created a second application named App2 and created the supersedence relationship for App2 to supersede App1, including to uninstall as well. App1 is a script install and App2 is an AppV 5.0 install.

In a user collection I have add members in, some who have App1 installed already but also some who do not have App1 installed at all. The aim is obviously to have all members regardless to now have App2, but not to install as required to each potential PC they have been on or log into (to install at their discretion really).

On the deployment options I have the option checked and greyed out as "Automatically upgrade any superseded versions of this application" which sounds ideal for the above. However I've noticed in the monitoring pane that for In Progress the category is marked "Waiting for maintenance window".

1. By any chance have I done something obviously wrong?

2. Is the option Install/Available, including the checked box greyed out, not intended for the scenario as above? And if not, would someone kindly ilterate why.

3. Does the category just limit to maintenance windows, or possibly the business hours as well. As reference I have a maintenance window daily for 6 hours from 2300HRS.

Deployment Type's return code?

Hi All,

So i have a powershell script that does deployment and prompt users to accept it now or defer it later. If user accepts it, it will proceed and return 0 at the end which is fine. If user defers it, the script will return a custom error code (9999 in my case). I can see the error in compliance report but it appears as unknown error. I did define the error code under Deployment Type's return code with some description.  Isn't this suppose to appear under the compliance report? Or am i misunderstanding how return code works?

Application Deployment Type when user is logged in or not?

Hi,

I have an app (CRM plugin for outlook) that i want to uninstall. So i have created 2 DT under the app, whereby the first DT (in priority order) will prompt user to close Outlook before uninstalling (under user experience with when user logged on only) and the second DT to uninstall straight away (install for system, when user is not logged in).

When i deploy it to a device collection, i notice that it attempts to run the first DT then second DT. Which is why it never got uninstalled when i logged off the machine. So i proceed to uninstall it via the first DT (which is just accepting the prompt to close outlook) and it got uninstall successfully. After that i got an error saying the deployment failed in software center and the error from appenforce.log is as below:

The enforcement of this App DT requires all users to be logged off.  The deployment cannot specify a user collection when the deployment type requires that a user must be logged off.  Aborting enforcement.AppEnforce

This seem make sense because i was logged in. My question is how do i make sure the DT will run on the condition of whether user is logged in or not ? i.e. if user is not logged in it should run the second DT instead of the first DT and not in priority order.

Update-CMDistributionPoint not working as expected

Hello,

I am running SCCM 2012 R2 and using it to deploy Office 365 ProPlus C2R with great success.  I have one primary server and secondary servers around the globe.  Recently, I have been asked to change the default language for a particular site's C2R install.  I've downloaded the new bits successfully to the content folder, and, while initially not understanding how content update works, I tried redistributing, validation, and content update from the GUI.  Obviously none of these worked.

After some research, I came across some PowerShell blogs and read up a bit.  It's my understanding, after taking a crash course in PowerShell for Configuration Manager, that "Update-CMDistributionPoint -ApplicationName $someappname-DeploymentTypeName $SomeDeploymentName" should initiate the distribution points for that particular application to check the content location of the aforementioned application, and update the SCCMContentLib folders appropriately.  However, as is implied by this thread, that isn't working.  I get no error message, it just goes back to the prompt and says nothing to me.  I know where the logs files are, but I'm not sure which one to check for PowerShell output.  My end goal is to understand the correct way to update the content of an application, because this is going to come up again, and soon.

Hash verification issue with new application

I'm running SCCM 2012 R2 RTM with separate site server and distribution point servers, both running Server 2012 R2 fully patched.

A bunch of my clients are unable to download a brand new application version I deployed. They pull from different distribution points (on which the packages verify fine). Each of them is getting a "failed to do hash verification" error and they all compute the same exact incorrect hash.  Last week we tested this application with a small group of users and they all installed it successfully.  The failing clients get the following in CAS.log:

I've tried:

* Recreating the application from scratch twice

* Pointing the newly-created application to a new source directory with an text file inside to ensure a new hash (almost worked, see below)

* Disabling anti-virus to ensure it's messing with ccmcache (We already have an exception set for ccmcache so this was just in case)

* Pointing users to an alternate distribution point

* Removing the supersedence relationship

I haven't tried:

* Rebooting the distribution point (can't do it until at least the weekend)

The weirdest part of the whole thing is that after pointing the newly-created application to a new source directory I had one of my testers try it and it downloaded but didn't install properly.  I realized that my developer forgot to increment the MSI version number so msiexec thought it was already installed and closed but it SCCM didn't detect it on the machine (different detection method).  I manually incremented the version on the MSI in the source directory, updated content, had him try again, and it worked perfectly.  Once I asked a few more people to test they got the same hash verification failures as they did with the last application.

How is it that multiple clients can calculate the same incorrect hash and fail to do hash verification and what can I do to fix it?  How does the client know what hash to compare against and where does it come from?

Report all CM12 Installed Applications and Packages on All Systems

I am trying to figure out a way to report on all applications and packages installed by CM on each system in my environment.  I need to report on the Package/App Name, Package/App ID, Install date.  I am very aware of the existing reports that pull from Programs and Features but this does not help with Package/App ID or even CM Package/App name.

The closest thing i have come across is the .ps1 from pdxcat on github -

It reports: Package Name, PackageID, Program, Version, State, Start Time, Exit Code and is pretty much what i am looking for other than i would really like to pull this into CM via an existing process such as H/W inventory scan.  The main information resides beneath: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\Mobile Client\Software Distribution\Execution History\System. i have toyed with h/w class extensions but unless i missed something this would be extremely tedious.

So, i am throwing this out to see if anyone has some insight into either:

1. How to mine this info via h/w inventory or similar so it is slipped right into CM

or

2. How i might take the output of the aforementioned .ps1 and get it into CM - (running .ps1 local, outputting to .csv, importing .csv data is all i could come up with **in my head**)

Thoughts?
