Application Catalog - cancel a deployment

$

Using SCCM 2012 SP1. A user has requested an application through the Application Catalog. It tried to install on the user's computer but the status is "failed". Service Desk got sick of waiting and installed the application manually. How can I clear the request and the "failed" message in Software Center on the user's PC? I'd like to be able to cancel the request on the server. Thanks.

Remove app-v package published to user on RDS 2012

Hi,

I got an App-V package that’s corrupt on a terminal server. It just won’t open. It works fine on other RDS-servers. So I removed it via Powershell but it is still showing as installed in software center, refreshed all policies but still no reinstall of the App-V package. This is not the first time it happens and it worries me. How can I quickly remove an App-V package and make sure it gets refreshed/reinstalled? Debugging why it's getting corrupt is the next step.

Please advise.

deployment status duplicated devices

Hi,

We got an strange issue with a deployment status. In a application deployment for 5 devices, the summary shows 1 success, 3 in progress and 1 error.

When I see the details, It shows all devices duplicates. The issue is that the same devices is as success as in progress (one device is with system user, and the same device with domain\user)

The application deployment is in a device collection and not in a user collection. I checked the application and all dependencies is configured for "install for system"

I re-create the collection and the deployment, but the issue persists.

¿Why it shows the devices for system and the same device for user?¿Why one device is OK and the same is in progress? I don't get it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The Application deployment start time is setting the default and not the as soon as possible.

When deploying an application in SCCM 2012 even if I set the as soon as possible
setting and the scheduled setting is unchecked when I deploy the application it
always sets the start time for right after the default available time which was
not checked. It should be immediately. It always sets it for 4 hours ahead of
time. Is this a bug or a setting somewhere? This just started happening. This
does not happen with Software packages.<o:p></o:p>

Error "ObjectLockContext has not been set." on Properties of Apps, Deployment Types, Task Sequences etc.

Using a specific AD account, when I attempt to view the properties of any Applications, any Deployment Types, any Task Sequences or edit any Task Sequences, I see errors similar to below.

Appears to be specific to that account as my own works fine.

Thoughts on what might be happening?

Shorter restart delay for a specific application deployment

Hello,

In our environnement, users have a 240 minutes delay to reboot their computer after an installation.

We have a specific application deployement that requires an immediate reboot after installation. Is there a way to use specific reboot settings for that particular application ?

Deploy available and countdown to reboot

$

Dear all,

I need some suggestion to upgrade software antivirus and give user the possibility to choose when start the upgrade (from software center) and a countdown before reboot to save his job, without lose his data.

I will explain the scenario:

I have CM 2012 R2 and thousands of Windows 7 SP1 x 64 with antivirus software version "a" that need to be upgrade to version "b"
The msi file of version "b" can overwrite the actual version "a" but a restart of computer is needed to complete the installation and, much more important, to continue protect the computer and also it must be done within a few minutes after the upgrade.

I would a button at the end of installation to force reboot or one countdown;in any case the user may leave your computer without restarting.

The msi command line has the switch "ALLOWREBOOT=0" to prevent automatically restart and his exit code is 3010, that mean "reboot is required to complete the installation", alias soft reboot.

I can't deploy this upgrade in the night, without user approval, because I don't know the status of many CAD/developer workstations, his job active, his open files and so on.

I have tried many different configuration about deployment type, exit code, user experience, custom settings, maintenance window, deadline, but in all of case if I configure a deploy "Install->available", the user can start the upgrade from Software Center, but after the installation the user can leave the computer without restarting, because there is no countdown window.

Otherwise, if I try one deploy with "Install->required", it don't work like I would, because yes there is a countdown window at the end, but the user cannot choose when start the installation and if the user try to start the installation between the available time and the deadline, the installation has the same behavior of the install-available, i mean he don't force a reboot.

I think that in my case the only solution should be "Install->available", but is there a way to show the user something like a countdown window or a different way to obtain the result

Thanks in advance
Alessandro

Has anyone removed "ShopatHome" programs yet?

Hey guys,

Has anyone removed ShopatHome programs from PC endpoints yet?  Anyone have any useful scripts they can share?  Supposedly this can be done through add remove programs, is there a way to call that in a command from a script?  Examples would be helpful.

Thank you,

Matthew

Does detection method also override uninstall deployment?

If I have a detection method to skip the install if it detects file X

Would that also apply if I deploy an uninstall method?

IE;

Uninstall deployment skips machine A due to detecting file X

Re-run application which are set with option of re-run only if failed

Hi All,

I have deployed an application to user’s machine in our environment. Recently there was an issue raised and user said that the application was working fine for him and all of the sudden application got uninstalled from his machine. Deployment is set with the setting of Re-Run only if failed setting.

Now in scenario when I have to re-install this application on user machine how should I delete the previous references so that I can re-run the app on user’s machine.

Supersedence rule that does not remove the superseded application

Hi,

I am upgrading app1 with app2. I only want app2 to apply to devices that do not have app1 installed (rebuilt or new devices etc.)

app1 is currently deployed to a collection which is queried against a whole model type of devices (approx. 1000 devices) and I would also like to do the same with app2.

How can I use supersedence in this case?

I thought within app2, I could add in app1, but leave the 'do not replace' function selected, so it knows it's superseding app1 but it will not replace it, but when setting 'do not replace', the supersedence rule disappears.

Due to the importance on this application and the amount of devices it is assigned to, you can imagine my reluctance to get this wrong.

Any ideas??

Package Deployment to Copy Files - Help Please...

$

Greetings to all,

Hyper-V environment with...
   1 Server 2012 R2 / SCCM 2012 SP2
   1 Server 2012 R2 / SQL 2012 SP1
   1 Win7 workstation client

I'm now trying to execute a simple, file-copy type package deployment. But although the SCCM console "seems" to be telling me the deployment succeeded, the files are not being copied to the (Win7) client.

In an effort to troubleshoot this problem I've stripped down the package to the very simplest of components. Here's my settings...

  - "Package contains source files" is CHECKED.
    - Network path UNC name.
    - \\CM01\Sources\Software  (CM01 is the SCCM server).
      - Everyone has read/execute rights.
  - "Standard Program" is ENABLED.
    - Command Line: FileCopy.bat
      - FileCopy.bat is located in \\CM01\Sources\Software.
      - FileCopy.bat contents: copy /y %~dp0CMTrace\*.* C:\Windows
      - The CMTrace file is located in \\CM01\Sources\Sofware\CMTrace
    - Program can run whether or not user is logged on.
    - Run with administrative rights.
    - Drive mode: Runs with UNC name.

  - I deploy the package...
    - I select my "All Desktop and Server Clients" collection.
    - I select my distribution point.
    - Action: Install / Purpose: Required.
    - Run as soon as possible.
    - Fast LAN: Download content from dist. pt. and run locally.

  - The summary for the package says "Success: 1" and displays a green circle.
  - The summary for the deployment (Content Status) says "Success: 1" and displays a green circle.
  - "All Status Messages for a Specific Package at a Specific Site" lists no errors.

Would someone please be so kind as to point me to some good sources of info so that I could pursue this further? I'm confused as to which log files or techniques I need to use to solve this problem.

THANKS!

Software Center show application stuck at Installing

$

Greetings,

This has happened a few times now over the last couple of weeks. At first I thought it was just a once-off bug, but it keeps coming back and I can't see any patterns to identify the cause or trigger.

Sometimes when I start a Deployment from the Software Center the Status gets stuck at "Installing" and never moves beyond that. It has happened for OSD task sequences as well as Package/programs. In both cases the same Deployment works on other machines, or has worked on this same machine previously. It's not always the same programs, and there seems to be no particular pattern I can find to cause it.

Restarting the SMS Agent doesn't resolve, it just comes up as "Installing" again after the agent has restarted. I've tried clearing the adverts from the client and no difference, restarting the computer also makes no difference... it just comes back as "Installing"

If I remove the computer from the deployment, it dissapears from the Software Center, and when I add the deployment back again it re-appears in Software Center as "Installing" again.

Doing a client repair (ccmrepair) doesn't fix it. Doing a client re-install (with always re-install) doesn't fix it either. I have to completely remove the existing client and reinstall to clear the problem, but that makes the client then appear as a completely new device in CM12 so that's not a very reasonable resolution.

The only log entry I can find that seems to indicate an error is in execmgr.log where an entry saying "OnContentAvailable invalid request GUID handle" appears several times. I have no idea what it means. Running the same deployment on another computer works fine.

Clients are all Windows7 SP1 32bit.

Application Deployment Status is Incorrect

$

Our environment is SCCM 2012 R2 SP1

Primary Server Plus Four Secondary Site Servers (we have over 1000's DPs)

Scenario

Deploying an application to a small group of computers...about 270 workstations.\

I started getting status messages in the console, under Monitoring, Deployments

Successful systems started populating...then suddenly they stopped coming in.  I looked at the In Progress and it shows the remaining systems either in status Waiting for Content or Content Downloaded.  Please note, the Waiting for Content are false, as the content is at the distribution site. I know this because...

I got impatient, and I started checking random appenforce.logs on systems in both of these status messages.  Sure enough they showed the application installed and was detected.

SO...my question...why and how do I troubleshoot my false status messages?  Where would I trace these back? I imagine there is an inbox they are stuck in somewhere?  Some queue of messages that got dumped?

I even created a new deployment, and collection of the same systems, and the status messages for the new deployment show the same results.

Very frustrated as from a reporting perspective I actually can't show factually that the deployments worked (especially when in a couple of weeks this is going out to over 10,000 systems, not just a handful).

Thanks...

Does a successful client push operation mean that my boundary setup is working?

$

Greetings to all,

I'm having some trouble deploying a simple package, and some of the warnings in a couple of the log files suggest a possible boundary problem. But on the other hand, I'm not having any problems deploying a client via the client push method.

So here's my question: does the fact that I can successfully deploy a client via client push imply that my boundary setup is probably working properly?

Thanks!

What is the name of the SCCM 2012 SQL view or table to show the application deployment status?

$

From SCCM 2012 monitoring, we can see the Deployment Status of the application by collection. It gives you a list of devices and users under Asset Details by category. There are "Already Compliant" and "Success" categories.  I would like to extract the users and devices along with the deployment status from SQL to produce a report. I need to know which device is on the deployment list, which device deployed successfully, which device has an error, and which device is in progress etc...

What view or table can I pull and join to extract these information from SQL?

Thanks,

Detection Method Using %UserProfile% in the Path

$

Hello,

I have written a simple bat file that copies 2 shortcuts to the desktop and I created an application for it so it can be run from the Application Catalog.  Everything works like it should and the shortcuts get copied to the users desktop but I can't get the detection method to work so even though the shortcuts are there the user is told the installation failed.

I assumed I could use %UserProfile%\Desktop and then the name of the shortcut as the file name in the Detection Method but that never detects the shortcut.

If I use the full path of C:\User\username\Desktop and the same file name it does detect it and says the installation completed successfully.

Is it possible to use system variables such as %UserProfile% as part of the path in the detection Methods?

Thanks,

Dustin

Can this be done?

Hi all,

can this be done?

We have an inhouse application that we deploy using SCCM 12 to our clients. The application fails if MS Word is open. The inhouse application integrates with Word and if the application is open, the problem occurs.

Is there a way to deploy the application with a mechanism to verify if Word is open and proceed if it is not open and abort if it is open?

Thanks

How to Remove Application listed in Add Remove Programs but is not in the registry?

$

Hey Guys,

Trying to get rid of "ShopAtHome" application toolbar.  The program installs itself:

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Shopathome\Shopathometoolbar

It does show up in Add / Remove Programs, and there is an uninstaller program in this path:

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Shopathome\Shopathomehelper

Is it easier to use SCCM 201r2 to uninstall this program through Add / Remove Programs or to use a script to call the uninstaller?

And you get extra points if you have a script in your answer!

Thank you!
