Redistrubting content is not pulling down my latest sourcefiles.. ?

$

hey guys

I am working on script and made some slight changes for the application it installs to remove files after the uninstall etc

Redistributed the content, completed

Go to clear the cache on the client test machine, downloads it again.. but it is still downloading the old version of my script..

What gives.. ?

Is there something SCCM does in the backend that we cannot see? I mean the monitoring of the distribution of this content has completed... ?

Hi!

SCCM 2012 St.

I set up a package from definition to \\server\SMS_S01\bin\i386\adminconsole.msi but the install attempts ended in error.
I tried this:
msiexec /i “adminconsole.msi” DEFAULTSITESERVERNAME=”SERVER.LOCAL” TargetDir=”%programfiles%\SCCM2012Console” /qn
does not work well.
Is the solution?

Find MSI Product Code in Windows Computers

Hi,

I deployed the Microsoft LAPS application via SCCM 2012 - the detection method is set to

Configure rules to detect the presence of this deployment type : Clause: MSI Product Code is I.E {F43D38493D-etc}

After deployed this application to Windows computer, where can I locate this MSI Product Code?

The reason being I want to make sure that this application will not be re-deployed again if a computer belongs to two different SCCM collections.

I went to Registry key, program and files etc but unable to find the MSI Product Code specified in SCCM 2012.

Please shed some lights.

Thank you

Uninstall/Modify Installation for SCCM Application

Hi,

I have deployed MS Office 2013 to some collections for testing. I now have updated the MSP that contains updated info and changes to the install (removed some programs from the office package). Is it possible to modify the current install or would I need to uninstall and reinstall using the new MSP (ie. Do i need to just Add/Remove programs and untick on each PC)?? or would it just require an "update content"?

ConfigMgr Basics - What are the differences between UDA and TopConsoleUser0 in v_GS_SYSTEM_CONSOLE_USAGE ?

$

Hi Community,

So I've been putting together some reports to map primary users to devices in my organization. In doing so, I've been spending some time with the following view : v_GS_SYSTEM_CONSOLE_USAGE and I noticed that I have duplicate ResourceID records with differing TotalConsoleTime0 values. So, my first question should anyone be able to answer it is :

1) Why would there be duplicate records for a ResourceID with differing TotalConsoleTime0 values? Is it due to profile deletion or re-creation on the actual workstation?

2) As it pertains to UDA I find myself wondering what the actual distinctions are between trying to draft a report based on TopConsoleUser0 values vs. whatever underlying database values UDA leverages?

3) Does UDA leverage the TopConsoleUser0 column in the aforementioned view?

My understanding of UDA is that it is a mechanism developed to focus software deployments to a user's primary device which could be a tablet, mobile phone, or workstation. Thus UDA creates a relationship between a user and a device. In my mind this may not have anything to do with the TopConsoleUser0 column in the aforementioned view, particularly in a scenario where a user manually defines a UDA relationship. But, what about if your Client Agent settings are set to auto populate this data?

4) What does this mean when we are trying to draft reports for a device -> primary user? Is it more accurate to leverage UDA data for such a report (assuming enabling UDA in the client agent settings) produces additional views to aggregate this information from the various tables in the ConfigMgr DB?

As always I appreciate your input and guidance!

Not Able to Run .exe through Application

$

I need to run an .exe on all of our client machines according to a department policy (So please don't suggest using something else). It will configure a few settings and then save a file on the computer confirming that it ran.

I am currently using an application to run the .exe on a test group. I used the presence of the file it saves as a detection method.

I get 100% compliance in my test group, but the changes are not made and the file is not present. I am not sure why that happens. The Deployment type automatically populates as an msi (though I do select the manual configuration option). Could that be the problem?

I configured it to reference the file on a network drive and I distribute it to both of our distribution points. It runs whether or not a user is logged on, no requirements or dependencies. Distribution priority is high.

Running local executable in Task Sequence

$

Hi,

We are trying to run a local executable that exists inside a sub folder of C:\Program Files within an OSD Task Sequence.  The executable and other files are created by a previous package that is run earlier in the same OSD Task Sequence (this package installs as expected). So far, we have tried to run the executable as follows without success:

  • Run command line step using cmd /c "C:\Program Files\Folder\Setup.exe /S"
  • Install Package (with no source files and no DP) just a command line of C:\Program Files\Folder\Setup.exe /S
  • Run command line step to run batch file (containing C:\Program Files\Folder\Setup.exe /S)

When using the Install Package option, we have also set the Start in directory to C:\Program Files\Folder.

None of the above methods have worked and result in an 0x80070002 error message.

The command line on it's own and within a normal Task Sequence run outside of an OSD Task Sequence works without issue.  When run using this method, the Setup program silently installs an application using 'Setup.exe /S'

Any assistance would be appreciated!

Labview 2016 suite install

Hello,

So I have had a lot of "fun" trying to make the Labview Spring 2016 bundle deploy via SCCM 2012. I have tested my setup via command prompt and it runs swell. I run - setup.exe /q /applyspecfile "C:\cabs\NI" /acceptlicenses yes /r:n with user rights (because it plays better acting how a user runs it via cmd) and when I deploy via SCCM and make it download locally it installs fine. Since it is a 50GB package though, I want it run from the DP, but when I do it fails to install. It seems it doesn't like to look for C:\cabs\NI where I do have the nisuite.xml specfile put. I checked execmgr.log and here is a shnipet I found

Dear All,

We've created an application using VB Script (though not an expert on VB Script) and under the Detection rule used option "Use a custom script to detect the presence of this deployment type:"

When we push this application (a VB Script) it does perform its action but at the same time we're getting error in AppDiscovery.log which in turn shows us failure of the application in Deployment status in SCCM console.

not sure what went wrong inside the below script:

Please suggest if anything went wrong as already specified we've very limited or No Knowledge about scripting.

Below we're getting from AppDiscovery log

Deployment properties for a package greyed out

I've noticed that the deployment properties for all my packages and applications apart for SUP packages cant be changed. I found a TechNet article saying "You cannot change the action of a deployment after it has been created.", however we have called Microsoft PSS just to confirm the reasoning behind this and they say that you should be able to change this setting. Is the TechNet article correct or PSS :)

We have checked 4 sites and all the sites behave the same.

Does anyone have any idea what it can be or why does it come?

Deploy Chrome as application(=> package?): autoupdate?

$

Hi,

We have deployed Chrome latest version as an application to lots of computers as an application.
However, business now wants that Chrome should be able to update itself. We deployed it default, so that should be possible. However, since it's an application, not sure what will hapen then (can't test it since there is no update available -yet)).

So that's actually my question when it will update, will it force again the version we pushed as an application?
If yes, I was thinking removing the deployment and creating a package instead (for computers who still need the initial install) and deploying it again to all computers again: those will have it, won't reinstall, those who have not will instal. When Chrome updates, the package won't interfere (as an applicaiton would).

Please advise.

SCCM 2012 - Migrated to new server - software updates clients not applying updates.

$

Hi,

We migrated our upgraded SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 installation to a new server hosted on Windows Server 2012 R2 with SQL 2014. SCCM DB hosted locally.

Installed WSUS again. I am able to successfully download updates, create packages etc.

But the clients are not applying the updates. It is now two days later and the targeted collection still shows no systems
with any of the updates installed.  When I check the UpdatesStore.log, I
see the new June updates with Status=Missing, so the clients appear to see
the updates deployed to them, but ScanAgent.log has a lot of entries of
"Sources are not current" and UpdatesDeployment.log shows "Total actionable
updates = 0".

Clients are picking up the correct WSUS address etc.

Has anybody seen this before or know a fix?

Thanks

Package is downloading but not installing

Facing issue with package deployment. Autocad package is 6 GB. It is downloading but not installing.

Earlier we have this issue for 1 out of 10 installations. We've browsed around 5 packages in task sequence and only one step(Autocad) is not installing and from last one week, Autocad package is not getting installed for all installations. I can see it is downloading but command will run only for 2-3 seconds and will show as installed.

Separately tried installing as package, I can see complete files are getting downloaded under ccmcache but it is not installing. Manually I'm able to install package in system context.

Below is execmgr log file.

SCCM 2012: failed to connect to distribution point

Hi folks,

I have an intermittent issue and can't figure out the reason so far.

I have a primary server and multiple distribution points. The primary does not have a DP configured. When I deploy a new distribution point, I have the following messages:

Distribution Manager failed to connect to the distribution point. Check your network and firewall settings.

and

Distribution Manager failed to find or create the defined share or volume on distribution point.

DistMgr.log shows the following:

CWmi::Connect() failed to connect to \\AMB-SCCM-E.domain.name\root\CIMv2. Error = 0x800706BA

STATMSG: ID=2391 SEV=E LEV=M SOURCE="SMS Server" COMP="SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER" SYS=BBD-SCCM-E.domain.name SITE=IDC PID=2120 TID=3376 GMTDATE=do jun 28 07:24:17.463 2012 ISTR0="["Display=\\AMB-SCCM-E.domain.name\"]MSWNET:["SMS_SITE=IDC"]\\AMB-SCCM-E.domain.name\" ISTR1="" ISTR2="" ISTR3="" ISTR4="" ISTR5="" ISTR6="" ISTR7="" ISTR8="" ISTR9="" NUMATTRS=1 AID0=404 AVAL0="["Display=\\AMB-SCCM-E.domain.name\"]MSWNET:["SMS_SITE=IDC"]\\AMB-SCCM-E.domain.name\"

ERROR DPConnection::ConnectWMI() - Failed to connect to  AMB-SCCM-E.domain.name. error = 0x800706ba

Failed to find a valid drive on the distribution point ["Display=\\AMB-SCCM-E.domain.name\"]MSWNET:["SMS_SITE=IDC"]\\AMB-SCCM-E.domain.name\

Cannot find or create the package share.

Error occurred. Performing error cleanup prior to returning.

However, after a while (couple of hours), it looks like everything is distributed on the DP. But this message keeps on coming back during the course of the day and every time a new DP is deployed.

I checked permissions, IIS, WMI, but I can't find out the cause of this behavior. I have events about WMI (id 5605) but I can connect to the WMI workspace (root\MicrosoftIISv2) with no issues.

Can anyone shed some light on this please? It would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Safdar.
