Deleted old Application/Deployment still running on clients

Hi,

I was hoping someone could help me.  We had an old application that was deployed to a collection 2 years ago.  A upgrade to that application was deployed via SCCM which has been successfully installed.  However, now the 2 year old deployment is trying to run again.  Each time a computer restarts, it try's to run the old deployment and errors saying a newer version of the application is already installed.

I cannot work out how to stop this from happening. I deleted the deployment, but it continues to run.  I then deleted the SCCM Application, and it still is trying to run on the clients.

On one PC, I cleared the cache, now that PC get's a pop-up error after every reboot saying it cannot find the source files for the old application in the ccmcache directory.

Is there anyway (without re-installing the client) to stop the sccm client from trying to re-run this old application?

Thanks,

Step.

Is it possible to import MDT 2013 applications to SCCM 2012

Hi, I work at a university where faculties have been managing there own delivery of images and hundreds od applications using MDT 2013

I'm trying to centralise everything into our SCCM 2012 Environment and hoping there is a quick and easy way to import application packages from a dept MDT 2013 workbench into our SCCM 2012 environment without having to recreate the application packages

We currently have both running side by side for various reasons.

SCCM has MDT 2013 intregration done and paid managed services has been deploying OS Task Sequences successfully.

Our end goal is to bring everything under our SCCM umbrella with least pain.

regards, Joe

Installing Internet Explorer 11 through task sequence

Hello!

I am trying to install IE11 through a task sequence via the software center.

I have used this guide: https://www.systemcenterdudes.com/upgrade-to-internet-explorer-11-with-sccm/ starting from the SCCM Task Sequence method section.

Everything seemed fine deployment to my test group went well and the TS displayed in software center, but when i tried to install i first got the error code 0x8007000b. Searched arround abit and found a solution. I edited my install.cmd file and added this:

%windir%\sysnative\dism

Now i dont get this error message anymore. Instead a get a stranger one: 0x80070BC2. I cant find any good relatable information about this online so im asking here if anyone what this one means :)

Here is a OneDrive link to the smsts.log file from the failing test computer.

Application dependancy and specific installation order

Hi,

I am trying to deal with dependancy. I need deploying 6 apps before the main one. So I created a dependancy and insert all apps in a specific order

So it is appearing fine.

But at the end it is appearing to be "OR". Another way wold be to create a dependance for each app Under the main one but SCCM will try installing each one and not in the desire order.

Do I need to use a TS or did I miss something?

Thanks,

Systems not detected maintenance window while deploying task sequence

Hi,

Yesterday I scheduled two task sequence on two  different collections one for uninstalling Office 2007 and then installing office 365 and other for replacing office 2007 with 2013. I configured maintenance window for the same on both collections.

Timing was 4:30 AM to 8:30 AM IST for both collections. but when I checked I found deployment was not even started and all the systems were in "waiting for maintenance window" status.

  1. I checked the status but they are were stuck on “Waiting for Maintenance Window”.
  2. I tried to increase the MW but didn’t help.
  3. I checked on some system they were showing “waiting to install” status in software center even if no other installation was in process.
  4. Checked the ServiceWindowManager.log log and found that there was MW available on the systems but still for some reason deployment didn’t work:

Clients are downloading content just fine and I am not having any other issues with software deployments...as far as I can tell. I am just tired of seeing the following error in the CAS.log for every downloaded application and was wondering if others are or were seeing this too and if there is a simple fix?

Error: DeleteDirectory:- Failed to delete Directory C:\WINDOWS\ccmcache\<directoryname>.BCWork with Error 0x00000002.

Managing reboot with SCCM

Hi,

With SCCM 2012 R2

I have some difficulties to set the reboot timer of SCCM. I would like to make it shorter and prevent user to delay the reboot. I would like the countdown time to popup right in the middle of the screen.

I did some test but I am believing, I miss something.. :(

Hi Everyone,

I've a strange problem on my Management Point.

The SCCM 2012 client is installed, but there isn't Software Center (on all other Server it has been installed).

I've tryied to install it manually & with the push installation , but no change.

when I try to push it to the server it has an error File C:\Windows\ccmsetup\{181D79D7-1115-4D96-8E9B-5833DF92FBB4}\client.msi installation failed. Error text: ExitCode: 1635

But when I try to install Manually Exit code is 0 (no error)

Cheers

I made redistribution, but it is the same way, found some articles, but I'm not sure which are correct.

Could you please give me suggestion what I should do .

I checked SMSDPMON log on distribution point. also somethere are hash mismatches.

Package transfer manager failed to update the package, version 15 on distribution point.

trying to deploy ie11 with sccm

I built the ie11 installer using the ieak11 app on a pc that is the exact same as the ones I'm going to deploy to

I tried deploying with the msi, but even though I have the prereq's added using the IEAK the installer still wants to get out to the web, since I do web filtering by the user it can't get out and fails every time.

I tried using the exe that was created using the IEAK and if I run the exe as an admin it works no problem

once I put it as a package in sccm 2012 sp1 and go to a client and open the software center I click it, it downloads but never does anything past that, the IE11_main.log shows zero activity from sccm

the IE version never changes and the install goes on forever

I've searched everywhere. How is there not a doc that shows how to update a browser using Microsoft own client management suite to Microsoft own machines, this should be a no brainer but from what I have been reading all day on the web a ton of people have this issue

so if anyone know how's to get this working that would be most helpful

does recurring deployment script run if disconneced from the network?

We have a package that deploys a script that runs on a daily basis. If the computer is disconnected from the network will the script still run? We are using SCCM 2012 R2.

Thanks

I have an application at version 12.10.203 that I'm testing. I had to change the Deployment Type so I have changed the version to appear as 12.10.203.2.

On the test computer I can't get it to download 12.10.203.2, it is only showing the original version. It was been over an hour. I've tried Machine policy and Application Policy refreshes. Any idea what else I can do to make the test computer download the new version of the program?

SCCM Deployments Monitoring shows old statistics when the same Application is deployed to different Collection type

$

Hi,

I have 2 main collections: All UK Users (about 1000 members) and All UK Devices (about 700). The names should be quite explanatory...

I have deployed about a month ago an Application (that installs per system and does not have a requirement for user primary device) to the All UK Users collection. What happened is that in the deployment monitoring I ended up getting about 1,300 records because several users log for a short time in a workstation that is not their primary so the deployment was firing again for them but not necessarily completing.

The result is that for the same workstation I get even 4 or 5 different statuses (Already Compliant, Success, In progress, failed,etc.). I later decided to delete that deployment and deploy again to the All UK Devices collection, hoping this time to see only 700 records with the real deployment status for each workstation. Sadly I got frustrated by the fact that SCCM (2012) immediately repopulated the deployment monitoring for that app with the same stats that it had before.

Basically I cannot get rid of the history of the previous deployment and get the same stats that I would get if I had deployed that app tot he device collection in first instance. How can I achieve that?

System Center 2016

Hello,

Is there a module with System Center like SCOM that would notify me when I deploy a software package created for example with AdminStudio, there is a conflict with another package being install on the target computer? I mean a DLL is getting in conflict or uses the same DLL files.

Is it possible to know also if I uninstall a software package from a computer, will it tell me that something got corrupted or broke anything on the machine?

Thank you very much.

Reboot computers using SCCM

How can you reboot computers on a schedule with SCCM? What are the best options? THANKS

Forced reboot from Application installation.

I've read most of the threads I can find relating to this, but nothing which definitively answered my question.

I have an application for Dell's OMSA agent defined, which was created from the SysMgmt.msi installer. That worked just fine, but on a subset of machines a reboot was required to complete installation.

The machine which restarted has no maintenance windows defined, and in the deployment the available time and deadline time were both set to as soon as possible. I selected to allow installation outside of maintenance windows. It was my understanding that no maintenance windows was equivalent to never being able to do things at deadline without specifically excepting them.

This particular machine failed to install the app because a previous version of OMSA was installed which didn't support upgrade. I manually removed the old OMSA and hit retry in Software Center and it successfully installed - and noted a reboot required in the interface. "No problem" says I and put a request through to the stakeholder for a restart time.

24 hours later, it rebooted.

This is what I found in various logs. Firstly from System event log:

The process C:\Windows\CCM\CcmExec.exe (XXX) has initiated the restart of computer XXX on behalf of user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for the following reason: No title for this reason could be found
 Reason Code: 0x80020001
 Shutdown Type: restart
Comment: Your computer will restart at 05/07/2013 02:11:56 PM to complete the installation of applications and software updates.

So, I'm not sure why DCMAgent initiated the reboot. It seems a little rude to me. I have read about application definitions could cause application installers to reboot, but why was it 24 hours later?

The app enforcement looked like this: (no there was no /noreboot or ReallySuppress, but there will be in future)

In anyone can point me in the right direction for an explanation, that'd be grand. This wasn't a one-off - at least 3 servers exhibited the same behaviour. So I'm assuming something in my configuration is leading to this reboot almost exactly 24 hours later.

Thanks.

Hi,

I have deployed an application for 10 users. When i check in all the 10 machines i can see Three folders got downloaded for the same content. Can someone help me to understand why content got downloaded 3 times for a single deployment.

Best Regards, Vijay Balaji
