I tried to deploy an application and saw in the report that i add 75 unkown computers

As i look at the computers i saw that the client was installed and showing as YES in my console?

If i go on the computer client i can see the client installed but in action i only have 2 choices...

Also if i go in components i see CCM NOTIFICATION AGENT as disabled the rest of the items are ok.

Can someone help with this issue

I also saw another issue with a few computers where in the console showing as NO but on the computer the client his installed same thing with CCM NOTIFICATION AGENT DISABLED and also the same 2 choices in action.

Limit package distribution/windows updates to mobile clients?

Hi,

We'd need to limit our mobile clients (4G) to get software updates/packages. They should only get this via LAN.

Please advise what best practises would be (limit via network range?).

Removing App-V Applications when the User/Machine is no longer a member of part of an AD group

$

Hi All,

We currently use SCCM 2012 R2 Applications (not Packages) to deploy App-V application to users.  We use AD Security Groups for users who are to receive the relevant App-V apps.

However what I am getting stuck on is the removal of the application when the user is no longer a member of the security group.

I have followed the details in the blog listed below, however I running into a major issue when testing:

http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrdogs/archive/2014/11/03/managing-app-v-deployments-in-configmgr-2012.aspx

Whilst for the main part it works, the main issue is that if another user of the same application logs into the original users' machine, the app gets pulled down again. When the original user logs back in, although they will have no capability to launch the application (as no icons appear to be presented to the original user), the app will be back in the cache.  No good if a 3rd party licensing tool is producing licensing reports are based on the app existing within the client cache.

The point/question I am trying to get to.............. is it possible to have the uninstall application (not package) deployment re-run everytime the SCCM client polls so that re-installed applications via A N Other user are removed again based on the above scenario?

Cheers

Andy

Uninstall Lync 2010 client and install Lync 2013

I need to create an application to uninstall Lync 2010 and install Lync 2013 client.  The Lync 2013 client by design does not uninstall the 2010 client.  What is the best way to do this in SCCM 2012 SP1?

SCCM 2012 SP1 - Site currently is in maintenance mode and never able to finish the file distribution

Hi,

I start noticed that 2 of my secondary server begin to having issue to receive the application distribution from primary server.

They can receive data (the temporary file size is growing up), but it cannot finally finish and get the completed file. I checked the log file which shows below information. But I never put the server into maintenance mode either I have no idea how to set it into active mode?

Does anyone have the idea?

Site currently is in maintenance mode and C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\inboxes\despoolr.box\receive\20av9ajs.sni is not DRS init or certificate exchange package, backup it until site becomes active.

Everyone,

Cause : issue with the compiled SQL Configuration Manager GUI’s communication with WMI.

Solution :

Open a command prompt as administrator
Navigate to your SQL version’s shared directory (cd <version path>):
SQL 2008:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Shared\
SQL 2008 R2:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Shared\
SQL 2012:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Shared\
SQL 2014:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\120\Shared\

Then run the following command:

mofcomp sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof

Deeplinking apps from Windows Store

$

Hello,

Is it possible to have such a configuration, and if so, how do I do it?

Used products: SCCM 2012R2 CU3, Windows 8.1 enterprise client.

I published a Windows Store application in SCCM with the "create application, windows app package in the Windows Store" using a reference computer. This application is published to all computers.

This works fine if the Windows Store is enabled, but if the Windows Store is disabled, it's not working.

Is there a possibility to deeplink a Windows Store application and to block all other Windows Store apps?

Thanks in advance,

Nick Vanderperre.

Deploy Office 2013 with language pack

Hi,

We want to deploy Office 2013, for this I followed the tutorial: http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/office/How-to-Deploying-Office-0f954e7f

In the first step I need to make an MSP file, but this file doesn't get used in the deployment? I think this is a fault in the tutorial.
Also the uninstall string is setuP.exe /uninstall. Is this correct?

Second we want to deploy the dutch language pack with SCCM 2012, but I can't find out how. The package need to be installed but Office 2013 still need to be default language English.

Can someone help me out with this?

Thanks in advance.

Manage pc's in different domain?

Hi,

We'd need to manage pc's in a different domain. What 's the best way to do this with least of impact?
F.e. can we install a remote distribution point that can handle all the sccm-tasks? Currently we have 1 sccm-server setup as a primary site.

Please advise.

SCCM 2012: install task sequence to VHD WITHOUT hyper-v being installed?

$

Hi,

I'd like to install an OS to a VHD(X) without the need of installing hyper-v on the sccm-server, can that be done?

Not out of the box probably, but I could copy the current task sequence and give an option to choose the installation disk.
That way I could boot on a workstation into winpe, create a vhd, reboot to PXE, choose the specific tasksequence and choose the vhd to install to.

Can it be done and if so how (how to change the ts in order to be able to choose the vhd to install to?).

Please advise.

Creating VHD fails, probably due to temporary files, howto see root cause + can I move temporary files?

$

Hi,

I tried to deploy a tasksequence to VHD in SCCM 2012 (via hyper-v on Windows 8.1 -where SCCM console is installed-).

At the end of the deploy I get a "general error" but I did notice that my C-drive was getting full and this could be the root cause.

So 2 questions:

-what logfile to check root cause?
-can I move the location of temporary files (no vhd was written to share where I pointed creation of vhd to).

Win 7 Pro - Systems reboots for no clear reason after package made available

Hi,

We have made a basic package available in self-service a number of machines in sccm 2012. Users on win 7 pro machines have reported that this package installs automatically anyway and then reboots the pc without warning.

Has anyone seen similar issues or know where we can get some meaningful info from the raft of logs and reports available.

Thanks

WMIC to trigger application deployment evaluation

I knows its been asked multiple times

when I do Application Deployment Evaluation Cycle: {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000121} trigger using wmic

it does not write anything in the appdiscovery.log, however if I run the cycle manually it writes in the log.

Any ideas?

Exit Code 1310 - PendingSoftReboot Timeout Countdown

$

I am using a task sequence to deploy a handful of applications in a specific order. The second application exits with code 1310 which tells the SCCM client to (soft) reboot because the application is configured to determine behavior based on return codes.

The reboot itself is not a problem, however the prompt is only visible for 30 seconds in spite of the fact that my client settings specify a much longer reboot timeout. I have also tried adding the variable to my collection, SMSTSRebootDelay, however that doesn't work either.  Is there any way to get this type of reboot prompt to last longer than 30 seconds?

Application Catalog and APP-V

Hello,

I have an APP-V application "Bomgar Rep Console 14.1.2" that is deployed to a couple users. Problem is when I go to the Application Catalog and start the install it does the evaluation and fails.

From what I can tell my validation is correct. The client is a Windows 8 x64 so I have the appropriate requirements set and Installing App-V 5.0, Windows Management Framework 3.0 (If Windows 7), Microsoft .Net Framework 4 Full and Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable. Below is a spreadsheet showing the steps from the APP-V to the requirements along the way.

This is the logs in AppDiscovery.log for the validation.

SCCM 2012: failed to connect to distribution point

Hi folks,

I have an intermittent issue and can't figure out the reason so far.

I have a primary server and multiple distribution points. The primary does not have a DP configured. When I deploy a new distribution point, I have the following messages:

Distribution Manager failed to connect to the distribution point. Check your network and firewall settings.

and

Distribution Manager failed to find or create the defined share or volume on distribution point.

DistMgr.log shows the following:

CWmi::Connect() failed to connect to \\AMB-SCCM-E.domain.name\root\CIMv2. Error = 0x800706BA

STATMSG: ID=2391 SEV=E LEV=M SOURCE="SMS Server" COMP="SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER" SYS=BBD-SCCM-E.domain.name SITE=IDC PID=2120 TID=3376 GMTDATE=do jun 28 07:24:17.463 2012 ISTR0="["Display=\\AMB-SCCM-E.domain.name\"]MSWNET:["SMS_SITE=IDC"]\\AMB-SCCM-E.domain.name\" ISTR1="" ISTR2="" ISTR3="" ISTR4="" ISTR5="" ISTR6="" ISTR7="" ISTR8="" ISTR9="" NUMATTRS=1 AID0=404 AVAL0="["Display=\\AMB-SCCM-E.domain.name\"]MSWNET:["SMS_SITE=IDC"]\\AMB-SCCM-E.domain.name\"

Cannot find or create the package share.

Error occurred. Performing error cleanup prior to returning.

However, after a while (couple of hours), it looks like everything is distributed on the DP. But this message keeps on coming back during the course of the day and every time a new DP is deployed.

I checked permissions, IIS, WMI, but I can't find out the cause of this behavior. I have events about WMI (id 5605) but I can connect to the WMI workspace (root\MicrosoftIISv2) with no issues.

Can anyone shed some light on this please? It would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Safdar.

I'm trying to push out an application (Apple Application support) through SCCM. The previous version deploys fine but not this one.  Everything is exactly setup the same for both. I can install the new version manually but not through the SCCM Software center. Anyone know of there is a difference?

Application Deployments Compliance and Success Decrease???

$

OK, I'm not sure how to attack this one...

The other day I was going through deleting some old deployments and collections that were no longer necessary, doing some house cleaning.

Until I noticed some deployments that I know went out, and were sitting at > 95% compliance on deployment nights.  But when I looked at them today, they were < 1% compliance .

So, I started looking at some other deployments that I know were good...and sure enough, they were now showing very low numbers for compliance.

I picked a very low profile app to about 4000 systems, ran an application deployment evaluation on them, and watched the monitoring.  Bear in mind I was positive these systems had the app (which they do), and I expected the "Already compliant" would increase.  Instead both Successful and Already Compliant increased.  I watched both go up to the 100's (they were single digits when I started) and went home for the day.

This morning when I looked, they were in the 20's, so now I'm at about 50 clients total compliant, where I know there used to be 4000+

Question - What could be causing my application detection methods to fail on several applications?  I have looked through site status, and I do not see anything out of the ordinary, especially critical alerts on the MP or Secondary Site Servers.

2007 Task Sequence will not work in 2012 after migration

Hi,

We have recently migrated from 2007 to 2012 and we have a Task Sequence that basically creates a series of directories, copies the content of the application locally to the machine, launches a series of bat files to enable the software, in a series of steps in the task sequence.

As such there is no programs that are contained within the package just the basic steps to copy the content from the package or DP to the machine. The package states there are zero valid programs.

When the Task Sequence is deployed to a collection the deployment just sits at in progress and program received, it does not invoke the steps in the task sequence.

Is this type of TS deployment enabled in 2012 or is there a step I am missing that will enable this type of deployment to work?

The deployment was fine in the TS in 2007, but will not execute in 2012.

Thanks in advance for any assistance on this.

Regards Gunther Reed
