We have issues with superceding dependent applications, put it differently can somebody maybe explain best way for doing this.  Setup:  Main app:  "B1 -- v1.0 SCV1" this has dependency app "A1 -- V1.0 SCV1".  When we deploy B1 as available application to test collection it does show up in Software Center and when you install it both B1 and A1 are installed, so far all good.

I try to supersede "A1 -- v1.0 SCV1" with "A1 -- v1.0 SCV2", and this is failing, I've tried various scenario's but they don't succeed.  When I remove the dependency and install A1 SCV1 and apply supersedence then it does work without any issues.

Following scenario's I've tested

- add the updated version to the dependency as "OR"  so both SCV1&SCV2 would be dependent.  For new install only SCV2 would be installed (that makes sense)

- deploy the dependency apps as available to same collection

Questions:

- does anyone have best practice on how to update "Dependent application"?

I would like to get some feedback on this, if necessary will open case with Microsoft and see if this is expected behavior or possible bug?

it does not write anything in the appdiscovery.log,however if I run the cycle manually it writes in the log.

We are trying to set up our deployments in sccm 2012 to wake up pc out off hours to install software and for the most part this works, however the problem we have is that if for whatever reason a pc doesn't get woken up (no power plugged in, no network connectivity etc) it will not get the software and will not be woken up again by system center. The only way we can make this happen is by changing the deployment available time or the install deadline, as this seems to trigger sccm to send out wake up packets again. The problem we have with this is that all pc's will wake up again even though there is nothing to be installed on them, so potentially we would have 50 pc's wake up just so 1 or 2 pc's can install some software.

For example, we want to install java out of hours so we have a deployment targeting a "java installed" collection and the deployment is set to send wake up packets. We schedule it to be available at 11pm and the deadline to be as soon as possible. When the app becomes available, system center will send out the wake up packets and any pc's that can wake up will wake up and install the software with out causing any hassle to our users. Now, some pc's won't wake up for whatever reason and therefore won't install the software, the user will come in and turn there pc on as normal and then the computer agent will realise that it needs java and try and install it. This means that we could end up with error messages coming up because the user has a browser window open or even worse the browser window could close unexpectedly and lose any work the user was doing. We can't have this happen so we would implement a maintenance window to stop this, now the problem would be that come the start of the maintenance window that evening, the pc will be turned off but system center won't wake the machine up because the deadline has passed. We would also run into this problem when adding a new machine to the collection, wol won't work because the deadline has passed.

Is there something we are missing here as it seems the wol functionality in system center is very dum and doesn't recognise non compliant machines?

I'm currently having issues with a single distribution point as all the other ones I have work perfectly and I can't figure why this one doesn't work when it is configured exactly the same way...

Hey everyone... I have recently discovered that I have 2 packages that I am unable to find.

I discovered them when I checked smsdpmon.log after checking my DP Configuration Status.

There are 2 package ID's listed at the correct time as the log, and I cannot find them anywhere.

They are not showing in content status, reporting, or anywhere else.

The worst part is that this is from back in July.

This is also on the DP located on the MP

DP Status error is "Failed to retrieve the package list on the DP, or the package list in content library doesn't match on in WMI.

We want to uninstall Microsoft Endpoint protection from our SCCM clients, now i need the uninstall string for that, but in the Reg you only see the SCCM client uninstall string and not the Endpoint protection, how to i go about to get that?

I have a little bit of a problem right here, with uninstalling an application, using the application model of SCCM 2012 R2. I would like to uninstall App-V Desktop Client 4.6.2 from all of my devices.

During the Application Creation in SCCM (MSI) it automatically created the following uninstall program:

msiexec /x {5D80483C-D297-4E04-9EDF-DD58521E9565} /q /norestart

If i deploy an uninstall action to my Test Collection (Device Collection), even after hours of waiting, nothing happens. I already checked the following things:

- There is no install deployment of the App-V Desktop Client Application to any device in the uninstall collection
- The App-V Desktop Client is installed on all computers in the uninstall collection
- The SCCM Client is working properly, i can install other applications.

Do i miss something?

    I'm trying to deploy an MSI and an MSP together as an Application in SCCM 2012. They are both in the same direct directory. They both are copied to the workstation.

On the "Programs" tab of the "Deployment Types" I've set the "Installation program" to the following

msiexec.exe /lvx* c:\Logs\ext.log /i "\\CAS\sources\Apps\TestPatch\TestInstall 1.msi" PATCH="\\CAS\sources\Apps\TestPatch\TestPatch 2.msp" \qn

This fails in SCCM with a 0x87D01106 error. If I put it in the batch file, it works perfectly.

I've also tried msiexec.exe /lvx* c:\Logs\ext.log /i "%~dp0eTestInstall 1.msi" PATCH="%~dp0eTestPatch 2.msp" \qn

Which also works in a batch file.

I've also tried msiexec.exe /lvx* c:\Logs\ext.log /i "TestInstall 1.msi" PATCH="TestPatch 2.msp" \qn

I already canceled the distribution by the console but he keeps trying to distribute, fills the disk, makes a clean and restarts.

How can I stop it for good? excluding Distmgr.box file?

Question on application uninstalls via SW center:

When no uninstall exists for an application (such as a Bios update) , we do not specify an uninstall program.

We would anticipate the uninstall button be greyed out when no program is specified for an uninstall, but this is not the behavior we see (R2Cu1).Rather, we see a uninstall button that simply produces an error.

Jorgen's answer to a similar thread seem to indicate that not specifying an uninstall program will eliminate the uninstall button, are we experiencing a bug or did I misread his answer?

SCCM 2012 R2 running on Windows server 2012 with Windows 7 clients.

We are publishing applications to users that are available (not required), so that they can be downloaded from the application catalog web site. We have som applications that needs more then one deployment type (different pre requirements depending on OS architecture) and when I create two deployment types for one Application the uninstall button in Software center is greyed out? If i remove one of the deployment types so there is just one, well then the Uninstall button is available again.

An example is Itunes. I publish one Itunes application to the store that has two deployment types, one for X86 and another for X64 with requirments on OS architetcure. the correct version gets installed but the uninstall button is not possible to use. If i remove one of the deployment types then the deployment button is not greyed out.

Is this a bug?

I am trying to deploy NXT lego Mindstorm using command line

Package copied over to client ccm cache and script runs but nothing happens after.

Installer times out with error Program failed (run time exceeded) Message ID 10070

here is command line I am using

setup.exe /q /AcceptLicenses "yes" /r:n

If I ran same command from client manually, it works without any issues. I tried both 32 and 64 bit machines, same issues

Not getting anywhere. I tried to look under products folder for .msi's still no luck

I would really appreciate any suggestions. Already spend lot of time..

I am trying to deploy an applications to a remote machine.  The application is distributed to the DPs and has been successfully deployed to at least one computer on the LAN.  The deployment status for the machine is stuck on the In Progress tab, Category as In Progress.

The content has not downloaded to ccmcache, and I can't find any reference to the application or package ID in any of the logs.  I don't know what to look at next that might help.  Any help is much appreciated!  Thanks,

I am facing an strange issue in our environment. we have a CAS server, a primary sevrer and lot many DP Servers spread across the region.

The issue is few applicaitons which are hosted in Primary servers are having multiple content ID's in the PKG library on DP servers. Providing the details of the Multiple Content ID details below for your reference.

I have VBscript which will calculate the disk space and write the result to text file in share location.

This runs fine in administrator account (Run as Admin command prompt)

But not in System context or through SCCM deployment (permission Denied to write to file)

Why this happens ?what is the workaround for running this script.

If I make some changes to the osd file for instance.. 

how do I get this update through to the clients that already have the app-v package deployed?
