Run an application install via vb script - sccm 2012 R2

$

Hello, is there a way to run an application install via a vb script? I have the vb script written, which detects if an application is present, then the application which is required is then installed. I would like to run the vb through SCCM rather than GP as the application is 300 MB and that would flood the network if it used with GP.

I can send more info if needed

Thanks

App-V superseding an application when App-V is already deployed: will application uninstall?

Hi,

When you create an App-V package and deploy it, then AFTER correctly deployed create a supersedence on an application, will it still uninstall the superseded application (or is it only for new installations)?

Please advise.

Deploying Applications to Systems Connected Over the Internet (IBCM)

$

Hello -

Internet Based Client Management (IBCM) was recently configured in our environment, with internet connections into the intranet using a proxy. We have one primary site/MP and one AD environment. I have a test Windows 7 system that was previously on the intranet, now only connected to the internet over wireless. In the CM console under client activity for the system, I can see that the dates/times for Policy Request, Heartbeat DDR, Hardware Scan, Software Scan have all updated while it has been connected only on the internet over wireless, so it seems that IBCM is working for the most part. The issue I'm having is with Application Deployments. I deployed a required application to a collection that includes this internet connected system but I'm not seeing any evidence in Software Center or in the AppDiscovery or AppEnforce logs that the system is aware of this Application Deployment. Any insight/advice would be much appreciated!

Applications with two deployment types makes uninstall button in software center "greyed" out.

Hi

SCCM 2012 R2 running on Windows server 2012 with Windows 7 clients.

We are publishing applications to users that are available (not required), so that they can be downloaded from the application catalog web site. We have som applications that needs more then one deployment type (different pre requirements depending on OS architecture) and when I create two deployment types for one Application the uninstall button in Software center is greyed out? If i remove one of the deployment types so there is just one, well then the Uninstall button is available again.

An example is Itunes. I publish one Itunes application to the store that has two deployment types, one for X86 and another for X64 with requirments on OS architetcure. the correct version gets installed but the uninstall button is not possible to use. If i remove one of the deployment types then the deployment button is not greyed out.

Is this a bug?

Thanks everyone.

ConfigMgr enforced restart and dynamic application install in Task Sequence stops proceeding installations

$

Before I go on, I have a very experienced packager/re-packager working for me, who full understands MSIs, exit codes, logging and transforms etc. Neither of us can explain the following.

Scenario: Config Manager 2012 R2 w/ UDI MDT 2013 pages during Task Sequence. Two applications that haveConfiguration Manager client will force a mandatory device restart set.

Issue: Since my upgrade to R2 SP1 it seems this reboot causes anyproceeding dynamic list applications (i.e. COALESCEDAPPS) to not then install. They never start. AppDiscovery/Enforce/smsts and install log files generated by both applications indicate a return code of 0 as expected and then...that's it. The TS doesn't pick up again, instead rebooting into the login screen. Prior to R2 SP1 this didn't happen, the TS continued on after reboot and installed the remaining applications.

There is one caveat here: Neither my packager nor I even remember ever setting this option since we pretty much rely on the correct exit codes to implement behaviour and not User Experience set to a restart is required. Checking the Revisions shows these Applications having Configuration Manager client will force a mandatory device restart set right from the off but I really, really question that, since I *know* for certain one of the Applications doesn't require any kind of restart in order for it to work.

Shouldn't the TS pick up again regardless of the UEx set as mandatory restart anyway?

I have seen a reply to a similar post stating: An unexpected reboot during the TS often kills it so you need to configure your command-line to prevent this. ConfigMgr cannot override what an MSI actually does internallybut this isn't an unexpected reboot!

Thanks all, Nick

Hi,

am using SCCM 2012 R2 to to side load windows apps.

I took the appx package and i added in the application and i deployed the app.

I cant not find Software Center in my PC.

They mentioned like if i open the Software center there i can able to see my app listed in that or

if i go to System Center 2012 Application Catalog website. there i can be able to see the app listed.

How do i get  Software center or How to go to System Center 2012 Application Catalog website?

Any help on this please?

I followed the below article to deploy the app.

http://blogs.technet.com/b/keithmayer/archive/2013/02/25/step-by-step-deploying-windows-8-apps-with-system-center-2012-service-pack-1.aspx

Anybody please help me on this?

Thanks in advance

SCCM 2012 R2 - Application Catalog

Dear Experts,

We have installed Application Catalog Website & Web Service Point in our SCCM Environment.  The Application Catalog is accessible from the Client Machine, with deployed settings from Client Settings to the Collections.

Now, the format of URL is http://<ServerName - FQDN>

We would preferred to change it Alias Name for that. I was not able to find out any steps which required to change in the Virtual Directory of IIS Setting or If any one guide me it would be helpful.

Error while importing Application

$

I have a multi-domain environment and am working on exporting applications from one SCCM environment to another. Both are ConfigMgr 2012 R2 CU5. And I've already done several export/imports without a problem. The error that I get when I import one of the applications is;

Error: Dependency unresolved, please assign a substitute for object SMS_Application.ModelName='ScopeID21A0F29F-833B-4D13-B763-75D5B28635F6/Application_a499118f-c9df-4a29-8e30-f1d4ecccb01b',CIVersion=9. If this object is being migrated, ensure Data Gathering has run on each site since SMS_Application.ModelName='ScopeID21A0F29F-833B-4D13-B763-75D5B28635F6/Application_a499118f-c9df-4a29-8e30-f1d4ecccb01b',CIVersion=9 was modified.

This error references another application. When I import that application I get the same error except that it references the first application. There is a deployment type in the first application that has a dependency that includes the second application and the second application has a deployment type that has a dependency that includes the first application though it's a different deployment type so the references aren't circular. The application installs without a problem. Has anyone come across this kind of error?

Application deployed to a computer shows "Past due - will be retried" in software center

Hello,

I created an application to remove a software named "Meridium APM Framework" in our environment. The removal is successful in a few machines whereas it failed in a PC with status as "Past due - will be retried" in software center.

I tried re-running it again from the software center and it fails.

I checked the AppEnforce.log and noticed the correct command has been executed successfully and this is what I see.

Any log files for Application export/import

I'm running into problems with Application export/import and can't find any log files to track the problems down. I just have some rather unhelpful error messages. Anyone know if there are log files hidden somewhere or some other method of troubleshooting this?

Install exe with switches from remote share with admin privileges

$

Is there a simple way to achieve this in SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 (without writing own logic batch files etc) ?

In my previous management solution I could just do:

- select the executable (if single) or whole folder (if small)
- copy it locally (ie c:\windows\temp)
- run executable with switches as dynamic administrator
- delete the whole folder that got copied at the end of the process

OR

- run executable with switches from remote share (again as dynamic administrator, as software installs are not allowed to be performed by users)

I find this not as easy with SCCM when installs are NOT msi based.

Also the produced logs are not easy to interpret, all I get is:

EnterRsRuningState failed to run script executable -i 0x87d01108]

Help appreciated

Task sequence scheduling

When i deploy TS on the collection with required property i set scheduling to midnight recurring everyday.

There is no other schedule on that deployment. There is no "software installation outside the maintenance window" property set

There is no maintenance window set on collection nor collection assets.

Collection based on AD group. i`m add some pc`s to AD group, refresh collection and wait for client policy arrive to client.

I expect that the installation procedure  of TS will be carried out at midnight, but it begins at policy arrive.

Is this intended or i miss something? Why should i set schedule if this rule is ignored? Is there any way to avoid use of maintenance windows?

SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 - Windows 10 with a testing group not working

Hello community

I have SCCM 2012 R2 with SP1 running. Right know I am already testing Windows 10 with SCCM agent installed (version 5.00.8239.10000).

It looked fine for a while but I don`t get it work that the windows 10 computer gets programs when it is in my testing group.

Let me first explain my environment:

I have a group called "Win7 x64". For testing purposes I have added my windows 10 computer to this group. It worked fine. I got all programs which are normally deployed to all Win7x64 computers.

Now I have also a group called "Testing computers". In this group I have 2 windows 7 computers. I put also my windows 10 computer in this group to test future programs on windows 10.

And here is the problem: Windows 10 doesn`t get the applications from this testing group. I looked on the sccm server in my testing group: 3 computers in it, one is my windows 10 computer.

On the windows 10 client I have forced the action to do a "Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle" and also all other action in the configuration manager.

I waited also three days. Nothing happened.

I removed him from the testing group, re added. Deployed a new program to the "Testing computers" - all windows 7 computers get the testing programs. Not the windows10 computer.

What I am doing wrong please?

Issues deploying applications via a Task List

I am trying to install a group of 4 applications via a task list, I also have program required to run prior to the task executing.  The program itself is just a pop up warning of an automatic reboot.  I can deploy the program and the 4 applications individually just fine.  If I run a task list of the 4 applications without running the Program first, it works as well.  However, if I set the Task list to always run a program first, it seems to fail, not always, but always on the same machines. I get the following in the execmgr log.

I tried adding the program to the task list but for some reason when I add the Package I get a blank program drop down box.

I just recently successfully upgraded to 2012 R2 CU4, but I had the same issue when running CU3. I checked the location logs, an it is reporting to the correct MP.

I´ve created an Application to deploy Adobe Flash Player 15.0.0.189 (last version). I´ve tried to deploy with the msi downloaded from Adobe site, using Powershell App Deploy Toolkit, bat script.. but nothing seems to work 100%.

I have 2500 computers in my company. Working with SCCM 2012 R2.

Some computers doesn´t install;

Some install it but Internet Explorer seems to loose this configuration and doesn´t open flash videos;

Some install but doesn´t uinstall the last version, then you can see two diferent versions installed;

Do you have a definitive solution to deploy Adobe Flash Player via SCCM?

Silent install of MS Visio and Project.

Hello guys,

I have refer to below post and trying to deploy MS VISIO and Project:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/35059fcc-fee4-4253-8935-31cda1a62239/how-to-deploy-ms-visio-ms-project-via-sccm-2012?forum=configmanagerapps

Even following step by steps, my deployments are stuck on client machines saying "Waiting to begin the installation" and then "Past due - will be installed"

I made sure "Additional software manages the deployment" is already set to NO

Maintenance window is not an issue:

Also if I push any other application, eg: 7 zip. it works just fine.

Please suggest.
