How to deploy Microsoft Dynamics AX client and components with SCCM 2012?
I am looking for help deploying Microsoft Dynamics AX Client with SCCM 2012. I have successfully deployed the client prerequisites and the client itself but if the Microsoft Office add-ins need to be installed I am not sure how to deploy these separately without sending the whole 4GB application package down to the client again. I would like to be able to take the specific component and install it without the rest of this install. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,

Software Center showing old and removed software version deployment to computer collection under "Installed Software"
I created a new application and superseded the old version. I removed the old versions deployment and deployed the new one. Most clients are showing everything correctly in Software Center, that is the new version is visible under "Installed Software". I have one client that shows both the old version and the new one under "Installed Software".
How is this possible when the old version has no deployment anymore?. I also updated another application (without creating a new one) and updated detection rules etc. and re-deployed it to the clients. The other clients managed to run this upgrade without issue, but the client with the issue is again showing the old version under "Installed Software" and the new version is visible under "Installation Status" with status "Installed"
Everything is pointing to the client having some issues, but how do I fix it? I have tried to reinstall the client and that did not help.
Has anyone else had similar issues?

Packages Stuck at "Waiting to Install"
I am having trouble with newly imaged machines and packages being stuck at "Waiting to Install". When I look at the execmgr.log I get the following:
Package AMR00005, program Silent is ready but can not be started because package , program is currently running.
Raising event:

The problem I am faced with is that the blocking package seems to be a ghost package as the name and package ID is left blank. Has anybody ever seen anything like it before? My guess is that there is a program in my OSD task sequence that gets stuck, but the TS completes fine and without error. Can someone please chime in? Thanks in advance!
Is "Update Content" a necessary step if a new detection method/requirement is set for an application?
We are creating applications in SCCM and we more often change/edit the Detection Method/Requirements/User Experience in an application before testing it. Whenever we have a new requirement (Global condition) set or detection method changed, we used to "Update content" without knowing if that is really necessary.
This question may be lame but I would be glad to know if updating content is really required for the above scenario. And if it is not required, I'd be interested to know why?
I tried to search the internet for answers but I could get any. May be my search wasn't good enough the fetch the answers!!
Command Line to Initiate an SCCM Delivered/Cached Application
We would like to be able to initiate a cached SCCM application (script) through a command line which will probably be delivered through a desktop shortcut. The reasoning is as follows, I welcome any alternate suggestions for the approach.
- We have an application which is essentially a script which works with content (20GB+) managed outside of SCCM. Essentially the script pulls the non-SCCM managed content down to the device (there is some additional complexity in this script)
- The reason for utilising SCCM is the ability to allow the application to re-run and most importantly run under an elevated account
- The application and a desktop shortcut will be managed/delivered through SCCM
- We'd like to initiate the application using the shortcut rather than using the Software Center or App Catalog for ease of use but appreciate we will need to factor in SCCM client agent readiness
Would anyone be able to point us to a documented client command line that will initiate a cached application, in line with clicking install on an available application in the Software Center?
Thanks
App-V shows "invalid namespace" in deployment monitoring for users on particular server
Hi,
I have this App-V package that works fine BUT on one Windows 2008 R2 (with App-V 4.6 SP3 and App-V 5.0 SP3) server: it seems to work fine for some users, NOT for others: they just don’t see the package in their start menu.
The App-V package also works fine on other servers.
What I contstantly get in deployment monitoring (SCCM) is “invalid namespace”. I could just give it a reboot, but that would mean all users would have to logoff and then I’d really would need to know that the reboot would help.
Found this
but not sure it would help me since it is related to App-V 4.6 SP2.
Would like to know what actually is going on. Please advise.

Blocking an application install from SC 2012
I have done a fair bit of research on this and haven't come up with any solution that can be achieved through System Center. We are trying to prevent the download of Office 365. Out corporate license gives every user in our company a 365 license that can be used to download and install on a personal computer. We would like to allow our employees to take advantage but the problem is that we had a user install over an existing copy of Office 2010 on the workstation in his office and it hosed both installs. Is there a way to prevent a specific application from being installed using System Center?
I don't see a way of doing it because (correct me if I am wrong) system center doesn't monitor machines in real time, but rather uses the various actions cycles at predetermined intervals to assess system changes which it then reports back to the console. I don't believe there is a way for System Center to prevent an application from being downloaded and installed.
Other solutions that have been discussed include locking down the install rights for anything, however this would be problematic as certain items users should be allowed to update or install on their own (Reader, Flash, Java). There has been discussion of a group policy to prevent, however the only viable way would be to block "setup.exe" which is obviously not going to work. The other option would be to lock users out of the 365 site completely using a firewall rule.
Well, that's the gist of it all. Any ides, suggestions, comments would be appreciated. My base questions is still what I am looking for. Can System Center 2012 block an application install?
Thanks in advance!!
Auto Installation for Checkpoint Endpoint Security E80.51.
Hi all,
Have anyone configured application management of Checkpoint endpoint security E80.51 through SCCM 2012 for auto installation on client machine? I have been going through it but couldn't get any switches for the silent installation. and not able to
push Checkpoint Endpoint security E80.51 through SCCM.

Silent install of MS applications
Hello guys,
I have refer to below post and trying to deploy MS VISIO, Project, visual studio:
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/35059fcc-fee4-4253-8935-31cda1a62239/how-to-deploy-ms-visio-ms-project-via-sccm-2012?forum=configmanagerapps
Even following step by steps, my deployments are stuck on client machines saying "Waiting to begin the installation" and then "Past due - will be installed"
I made sure "Additional software manages the deployment" is already set to NO
Maintenance window is not an issue:
Also if I push any other application, eg: 7 zip. it works just fine.
Please suggest.
App-V app delivery on VDI slow, and in batches
Hi,
We have had serious issues with deploying app-v applications to our VDI machines. Most of these have been solved by updating to the recent SP2 for SCCM (R2 SP1) and App-V 5 SP3, and some other minor tweaks. However it still takes to much time for all applications to be available.
Our environment consists of:
- SCCM 2012 R2 SP1
- Horizon View 5.3
- Windows 7 x64 VDI clients
- App-V 5.0 SP3
When a user logs on to a vdi, it takes about 1-1,5 minute after the desktop is available before SCCM starts deploying user/group assigned applications. This is about a minute too long, but usable. However, usually only 1 or 2 applications are listed in Software Center and get installed.
To get the rest of the applications, the user either has to wait between 10 to 60 minutes before SCCM continues with the other applications, or the user has to trigger the application deployment action via the configmgr control panel resulting in installation of the remaining apps within minutes.
I have been looking at the log files but I just cannot see why it waits so long. Using policyspy from the configmgr toolkit, I can see that all the advertisements are listed under the requested tab. So the client should know there are more apps available.
What I do see, is that SCCM does not see the VDI clients as a floating nonpersistent VDI: Machine Changes Persisted = Yes. Not sure if that has any influence on deployment speed.
Any ideas? Where to look, what to set?
Thx,
Michel
PS. One of the highlights of SP2 was faster app-v application deployment, but I have no idea what to expect.

Hi,
I am currently creating an application to uninstall a program called Philips iSite Enterprise 3.6.114.1. I am having a difficult time understand why it will not work.

As you can see I am getting exit code 1603. When I look at the iSiteEnterprise log it is stating that I am not running the .msi silently...which I am with the /qn switch. The thing I don't understand is if I open Software Center on the endpoint that I am pushing to and hit the "RETRY" button the uninstall works perfectly fine. Also, if I run the command locally through command prompt it also works perfectly fine. The content downloads fine to the ccmcache so I don't think that is the issue.
I tried this command too: wmic product where name="iSiteEnterprise 3.6.114.1" call uninstall
I get the same scenario as post above. If you need more information please let me know.
Thanks,
Kevin
Replacing an App-V 4.6 by a 5.0 package: proper way (terminal server)?
Hi,
What would be the proper way to replace an App-V 4.6 package (deployed via App-V management server) with an App-V 5.0 package deployed via SCCM, specififcally on a terminal server (Windows 2008 R2)?
There are a lot some items which are unclear to me.
*When we would deploy the 5.0 package without paying attention to the 4.6 package, this would cause issues since the name in the startmenu is the same (what WOULD happen?)
*I guess we should undeploy the App-V 4.6 package but how much time should we give it + this would mean downtime for users since they won’t be able to open their application. It would be nice if we could set both applications 4.6 and 5.0 next to eachother but then we would have to rename the App-V 5.0, right?
Please advise.

SCCM 2012 - Task Sequence Failing
Hello,
I am running a task sequence that deploys four different Office updates to update Lync to Skype for Business. The task sequence I have works on about 50% of computers I deploy it to but fails on the rest. The updates are all x86 and for the most part (95%) our computers are running x86 version of Office. I have the beginning of a log here:

Time of deployment to Clients are different than when Scheduled on SCCM 2012 Primary Server
Hello,
Just wondering why the Time of deployment to Clients via a report are different than when Scheduled on SCCM 2012 Primary Server? The distribution Point and the client computer involved are all on the same time (time zone) as the primary Server?
Thanks so much in advanced,
Mark

Error Code 0x87D00325 on Office 365 Deyployment
I'm running a Office 365 deployment using the application model to uninstall office 2013 and install office 365. It works without issue.
However, when the client has Visio installed on it it fails out after office 2013 is uninstalled and the beginning of the install for Office 365. If I run the office 365 manually it installs just fine with Visio installed. Software Center shows" The software change returned error code 0x87D00325.
In the appEnfoce log shows the following:

Configuration Manager Package Conversion Manager 2.0 not working on SCCM 2012 R2 SP1
Hi.
We are busy with a ConfigMgr 2007 -> 2012 R2 SP1 migration. Objects migrated but converting legacy packages to applications is a challenge. PCM does not want to install on a ConfigMgr 2012 R2 SP1 instance.
Can MS please assist.
Thanks
Andrew
