App Catalog Broke after CU 2

Application Deployment configured as Available installed automatically

Hi,

We are using SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 cu1 and have all roles on a single windows 2012 R2 server.

I have deployed an application which first uninstalls an app and then installs the an app, which works well.

I have deployed this to computer devices as an available installation, so that it can be installed on demand by an administrator when they logon to the machine, just to control when it get installed. We have a couple of maintenance windows configured for updates which occur twice a week.

However, the application has been installed automatically during a maintenance window on a number of machines. Is this the correct behaviour since TechNet says the app will be installed on demand by a user? (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg682082.aspx). The only other thing going on is that some windows updates have been rolled out using a deployment template, and they have installed during the maintenance window. What would cause the available app to install automatically?

I then retired the application since it was still showing up on some other devices as waiting for their maintenance window and I didn't want these devices to have the new app, and once retired the app disappeared from software centre on those devices. However, the next day when the maintenance window ran and the application was installed to some more devices. Again windows updates were also installed during the MW. Does anyone know what would cause this since retiring the application deployment should make it unavailable to the clients to be installed?.

Setup - SCCM 2012 R2, SQL installed on the same box

I logged on using the service account has permission to manage SCCM Infrastructure, while trying navigating 'Application Management' to push the application is not available, the only option i see is Software Library >> Overview >> Operating Systems

Is it a permission issue with my account?

Do i need to install the Application Management console?

I am trying to push an application but unable to find the Application Management console, could you suggest what is wrong here?

Maintenance Windows extending to (or beyond) midnight

I'm configuring maintenance windows in my environment and have experienced some strange behavior on one occasion. I'll give details of my implementation if needed, but my question may not require them.

If I set up a maintenance window, say for Saturday, set the Start to 8:00:00 AM, and set the End to be 12:00:00 AM, does SCCM understand how to handle that? The window duration appears to calculate correctly (showing 16 hours), but technically Saturday at 12 AM comes before 8 AM, and I thought it might cause some unexpected behavior in the background.

In my particular case I saw a window duration in the Maintenance log that was longer than I anticipated. I'm working with multiple windows and had changed settings a couple times, so I'm not sure if it was just an unintended side effect, but I thought I'd throw this question out just in case.

Thanks!

Updating SCCM 2012 R2

Hello-

I am fairly new to SCCM. I currently support a site with SCCM 2012 R2 RTM.  I need to get this patched to the latest build so that we can support Windows 10 clients.

-What is the patching process for SCCM itself?  Am I looking for CU 5 or SP 2 or what's the latest build I should be looking for.
-Does the client automatically pull down an updated agent once the server is patched and back online or do I have to build an application deployment?

Thanks,
Joel

Application Deployment Policy Tracking

$

Hello there...

I'm looking for some insight regarding apparent slowness of our Applications to become available in Software Center in our environment.

What I would like to do is be able to track the process from the point of creating the Deployment to the end client actually receiving the policy saying it has a deployment available and populating Software Center with that application.

Our environment is SCCM 2012 R2 SP1
Primary Server with SQL, an MP, plus four Secondary Sites

The issue is I have been seeing some slowness for applications to become available to our end clients, especially those that report to our Secondary Sites.  I'm guessing I have a bottleneck somewhere that is taking time for policy to work its way through, but not sure exactly where to look.

As an example, I have created an Application Deployment, it is available, and I see it available to multiple machines.  I added a new client to the collection that is targeted, verified it has populated, and have now waited 3~ hours and the application is still not available, it is a status "Unknown" to that respective client. I have of course run machine policy and application evaluation policy, but still nothing new (it has some existing items in there already).

SO, I'm assuming the process looks something like....Primary Server creates deployment ---> Sends info to Secondary Site ---> Sends policy to client (at which point I should see appdiscovery.log update with the application)

So, looking for some insight as to what inboxes and/or logs I could follow to see the process that gets to the end client.

Thanks...

MP Software download issues post configmgr 2012 R2 SP1 upgrade

Hi,

Up until upgrading our CM 2012 R2 environment to R2 SP1 we had no issues either deploying applications via software center or during OSD.

Since we installed the R2 SP1 update we see issues in OSD with errors stating "Application Download Failed"

Also on the management point within the MP_Status log I see a lot of "Mp Status: processing event: SoftDistDownloadFailedEvent, for machine xxxxx

I see no raised issues within the console on the monitoring tab of the site or components.

I noticed the only apps that will install during OSD are the ones that had their deployments set to "do not download" within the content tab. Any that are set to "download content from distribution point and run locally" fail in the task sequence.

Anyone seen this before?

Cheers

How to see error'd clients when an application deployed as "Available"?

Just deployed an application for a collection as "available", and checking the deployment status in Monitoring -> Deployments, I see 4 Requested so far; Success: 1 , Error: 3, but I can't find the error ones anywhere in the console!

Are these really failed clients that requested the application from Software Center and for some reason weren't able to complete the installation successfully? and where to see the log, hostnames, and reasons (if any avail.)?

SCCM 2012 Configuration Manager "Application Management" area Error Your data failed to save.

Note I just would like to modify it and keep getting this message below when I try to either remove it or modify it:

“Configuration Manager”
Your data failed to save. Please check your network connection and try again.

What a pain in the BUTT with this and need some Help!

Thanks

Note that all I am trying to do at this point is to either modify the current application, delete it entirely from the Application Management area and just create a brand new Application, but it keeps giving an error and slowing the process of being able to deploy any applications period, so anyone that has received this message and has some answers would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Custom reports for Forefront Endpoint protection

Hi

We would like to get some detailed reports regarding the activities performed by the FEP clients.  The two built-in reports: "Antimalware overall status and history" and "Antimalware activity report" do provide some information regarding the status and activities but we are after more details regarding what's been done by the FEP clients during the reporting period to provide more insight information for the end users e.g. something like total scans performed during the reporting period.

Would there be any example reports available or can I please get some help to create a custom report?

Thanks

I am attempting to create an unattended silent install of Identity Manager. I created the package and used the command line for installing Add-ins and Extensions msiexec /q /i “\\My Server\f$\Source\Applications\Microsoft\Microsoft Identity Manager 2016\Client Extensions\x64\Add-ins and extensions.msi" ADDLOCAL=OfficeClient,PasswordClient PORTAL_LOCATION=http://myportal:8088 PORTAL_PREFIX=http RMS_LOCATION=portalserverlocationMONITORED_EMAIL=myemail@company.com REGISTRATION_PORTAL_URL=http://myregistrationsite:8080 /L*v C:\mylogfile.txt. However when viewing the AppEnforce.log file of the machine in question I am seeing the following error: Invalid command line, quotes not properly closed in the command line. I am unsure of where to go from here as I am not seeing in the command line where I have improperly closed the command.

Deploy Office 2013 with language pack

Hi,

We want to deploy Office 2013, for this I followed the tutorial: http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/office/How-to-Deploying-Office-0f954e7f

In the first step I need to make an MSP file, but this file doesn't get used in the deployment? I think this is a fault in the tutorial.
Also the uninstall string is setuP.exe /uninstall. Is this correct?

Second we want to deploy the dutch language pack with SCCM 2012, but I can't find out how. The package need to be installed but Office 2013 still need to be default language English.

Can someone help me out with this?

Thanks in advance.

AppV integration error: not integrated for the user

$

Hi,

I have an App-V package which is deployed to several terminal server users (not to the machine but the users).
I created a deployment type (V2) which I deployed. However I want to fail back to deployment type V1. I increased the priority of V1 but V2 still is there.

So I tried via Powershell to remove V2 but that does not work:

Invoke-Command -ScriptBlock  { Get-AppvClientPackage -name  "*App-V package V2"  -all | Stop-AppvClientPackage | Repair-AppvClientPackage | Unpublish-AppvClientPackage | Remove-AppvClientPackage } -computername $ComputerName -verbose

Internal AppV Integration error: Package not integrated for the user. Please ensure that the package is added to the machine and published to the user.
Operation attempted: Repair Package.

AppV Error Code: 010000001D.

How can I force the removal of this App-V package so I can deploy the new one?

J.

  2. i have deploy office 2010 in two different device collection a few days ago but till now the software doesn't show in software center (client) or even in software catalog, i have followed office documentation from prajwal from this link http://prajwaldesai.com/how-to-deploy-microsoft-office-2010-using-sccm-2012/  is there something hidden step or something that i am missed from this documentation?
  3. I'm installed the SCCM & SQL are not on default path ( E:\ Path), is this could be caused the office deployment problem?

Admin Console failing to install

$

So I'm trying to package up and install the remote admin console from the application catalog but I'm failing at every turn. EArlier it would complain that the DefaultSiteServerName was empty, even though it wasn't. After switching the parameters round, it seems that it's now complaining about EnableSQM, which again is not empty.

My first though after seeing this was that I'm hitting a max character limit, so I dropped it all into an install.bat and found the same thing. Even though the full. When checking ConfigMgrAdminUISetup.log it still complains about EnableSQM being empty

I'm trying to install ConfigMgr 2012 R2 console on a Win8.1 x64 machine. Content location is \\server\SMS_PRI\tools\ConsoleSetup\

Really can't fathom this one out!

SCCM 2012 - Unable to deploy 64 bit applications on 64 bit OS (Windows 7 & 8.1)

SCCM 2012

I have been unsuccessful deploying 64 bit applications on Windows 7 and 8.1 x64.

Is there a x64 bit SCCM client?  Is there a way to check if the x64 is installed on the client?

I am able to install some 32 bit applications on the x64 OS without issues, but have issues with all the x64 applications.

On the most recent MS Silverlight x64 application, the package deploys to the computer and shows up in the Software Center.  Installs, shows up in add and remove programs, but will not work.  I can install it through the silent command without issue and it works then.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Wendell
