How do I check this box in a deployment w/ supercedence?

$

Hi guys,

I'm trying to figure out how this box gets checked when I make a new deployment,

Somehow, this has been getting checked, but when I make a new deployment to target a device collection, I can't see where to specify this behavior.

When I look at the settings for the apps supercedence itself, I don't see this listed anywhere...

How do I check the 'automatically upgrade any superceded versions of this application' box?

Software Center show application stuck at Installing

$

Greetings,

This has happened a few times now over the last couple of weeks. At first I thought it was just a once-off bug, but it keeps coming back and I can't see any patterns to identify the cause or trigger.

Sometimes when I start a Deployment from the Software Center the Status gets stuck at "Installing" and never moves beyond that. It has happened for OSD task sequences as well as Package/programs. In both cases the same Deployment works on other machines, or has worked on this same machine previously. It's not always the same programs, and there seems to be no particular pattern I can find to cause it.

Restarting the SMS Agent doesn't resolve, it just comes up as "Installing" again after the agent has restarted. I've tried clearing the adverts from the client and no difference, restarting the computer also makes no difference... it just comes back as "Installing"

If I remove the computer from the deployment, it dissapears from the Software Center, and when I add the deployment back again it re-appears in Software Center as "Installing" again.

Doing a client repair (ccmrepair) doesn't fix it. Doing a client re-install (with always re-install) doesn't fix it either. I have to completely remove the existing client and reinstall to clear the problem, but that makes the client then appear as a completely new device in CM12 so that's not a very reasonable resolution.

The only log entry I can find that seems to indicate an error is in execmgr.log where an entry saying "OnContentAvailable invalid request GUID handle" appears several times. I have no idea what it means. Running the same deployment on another computer works fine.

Clients are all Windows7 SP1 32bit.

Application Catalog - "Cannot Connect to the Application Server" Error

Good Afternoon All -

In the past couple of days, I've been installing and configuring SCCM 2012 for our production network.  Today, I ran into a little issue that I'm having trouble resolving.

I installed the Application Catalog web service point as well as the Application Catalog website point roles onto my primary site server.   It holds all other roles I use except for the separate SQl server which has a couple for DB & reporting.

Upon adding them, I had a couple of errors in my Monitoring saying things like awebsvr.msi couldn't be installed.  Removing the roles and re-adding them seemed to resolve this issue.

In the configuration, I kept the "Default Web Site" blank, but filled out the rest using port 80 / HTTP.

When a computer goes to the Application Catalog now in IE, the message "Cannot Connect to the application server" is displayed followed by a message saying that the website cannot communicate with the server.  Even though the Client Settings say to add the site as Trusted, I had to manually add it - but still got the error.

What's wrong?  Here's what I've tried

- Reinstalling roles again

- Setting app catalog to use 443 / HTTPS (gave error that SSL wasn't properly configured in IIS so swaped it back as don't want to use HTTPS anyways

- Site Status & Component Status are green across the board

- I restarted the Default Web Site in IIS and the SMS Component service

Here's a link to the portlwebMSI.log

Any ideas?  Thanks!

MDT - we will be using SCCM but for now we are creating base client installs using MDT. Trying to create standalone MS Endpoint Client installs

Can you direct me to how to install an MS SC Endpoint Client (standalone) using MDT.
Within MDT I have imported the application and created a task sequence.

I'm trying to determine if possible to answer the few questions that MS SC Endpoint Client asks, using some sort of xml file or however it might be possible within MDT.

Basically need to accept the EULA, specify unmanaged; there are very few settings.

Custom User Global Condition - Current AD User Property

Hello,

I have an application which has two deployment types, which I have named based on the office location. The software specifically is to be assigned to a user collection as opposed to the device collection, because of our hotdesking environment it is software not to be used by everyone.

I've noticed that one of the options in the global condition, when specified as custom, to select the option of Script and specify if it is PowerShell etc, with the script returning a value for SCCM to pick up. In some documentation regarding SCCM I noticed that scripts were mentioned as "Discovery Scripts". Does this mean the method I am looking to implement won't work, or in design is not meant to work the way I have thought it through. The script i've added in below, which I have tested out quickly and it didn't seem to install either of the two deployment types.

$CurrentUser = $env:USERNAME
$Office =  Get-ADUser -Identity $CurrentUser -Properties * | Select-Object -ExpandProperty physicaldeliveryofficename
if ($Office -match "London")
    {return $true}

Any feedback would be great.

SCCM query for active Outlook clients

Hello,

I'm trying to make an inventory to determine the number of PC which are using a mailbox with Outlook. I have a device collection about Outlook installed PCs  but I'd like to determine how much of them are using a mailbox account.

My idea was to create a query based device collection to check if ost files exist on each Outlook equiped computer. Unfortunately, the ost files are stored in c:\Users\%username%\appdata\local\microsoft\Outlook folder, it seems that SCCM cannot query the %username%appdata folder. Can you please confirm me that there are problems for making requests in this folder ?

If there's no solution to make this query based device collection, does anyone have an alternative to create a listing of active mail for Outllok equiped PCs ?

If it can help, I give you the query that I created therefore :

select SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceID,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceType,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Name,SMS_R_SYSTEM.SMSUniqueIdentifier,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Client from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_SoftwareFile on SMS_G_System_SoftwareFile.ResourceID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_SoftwareFile.FileName like "%.ost" and SMS_G_System_SoftwareFile.FilePath like "C:\\Users%Appdata\\Local\\Microsoft\\Outlook\\"

Thanks for your answers

Application deployment stuck In Progress for some computers

I have a Flash Player deployment for about 800 computers. Majority of the PC's will install it correcty and report Success but few PC are reporting In Progress with Message ID 10072 and description 4. When looking the actual PC the Flash Player update is installed and it does work fine.

The deployment is running over and over again and the SCCM log files from the PC I can not fined any reason what is causing the issue and how to get the installation finnish correctly and report Success. Any idea what to look and how to fix those computers.

We have SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 and one primary site in use and computers are running Windows 7.

Deploying the same application with different parameters based on collection

I want to deploy an application to different groups of computers. For simplicity's sake, let's just say it's Office. But the two groups that I'm deploying to will have different parts of Office with different settings in the transform file.

Can I accomplish this without creating two different Application entries in SCCM?

My first thought was to make two Active Directory groups and make two Deployment Types with global requirements that check if they are members of the proper group. From what I've read, this seems to be a bad idea.

Strange - Application Management is not visible under Software Library >> Overview

Setup - SCCM 2012 R2, SQL installed on the same box

I logged on using the service account has permission to manage SCCM Infrastructure, while trying navigating 'Application Management' to push the application is not available, the only option i see is Software Library >> Overview >> Operating Systems

Is it a permission issue with my account?

Do i need to install the Application Management console?

I am trying to push an application but unable to find the Application Management console, could you suggest what is wrong here?

Cannot delete application

I'm trying to delete an application from SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 Configuration Manager. But Config Mgr displays a message stating that I can't delete it, and indicates there is one active deployment.

However, there's nothing listed on the Deployment tab. Doesn't seem to be a quirk with my display; I had a co-worker check his console and he's seeing the same thing (nothing listed on the Deployment tab).

Right-clicking the application and selecting "View Relationships" doesn't show me anything other than the single Deployment Type  for the application.

Not sure what else I can try that will allow me to delete this application.

Lync Basic 2013 - Forced a Reboot - SCCM 2012 R2

Hi, I am deploying Lync 2013 Basic to our network but my test machine reboots. I have configured the installation Program command simply as"setup.exe",though I amended the config.xml with:

<!-- <Setting Id="SETUP_REBOOT" Value="Never" /> -->

The machine keeps on rebooting. I dont want to create an MSP file as I have already partially deployed this previously (it was lync 2013 full).

The Detection Method is set so if either lync full or basic is installed,Lync Basic will not install:

SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Registration\{0EA305CE-B708-4D79-8087-D636AB0F1A4D}

What do i need to amend to the applcation to ensure it does not reboot?

Powershell script wont run with eleveted privilages

I need to upgrade the VPN client on my site with about 700 users on the VPN. I built the new client set the hierarchy and supersedence correctly for the new and old apps. Set the old one to uninstall before the new app is installed however it will not uninstall.

I am trying to run a PowerShell script as an uninstall parameter in an application deployment, because i want to check weather or not the VPN is connected. I don't want to disconnect someone in the middle of what ever they might be doing. Who knows. Anyway, This script works perfectly fine when i ran it from elevated command prompt on the local machine. But if i deploy this script through SCCM it fails in about 3 seconds.

The VPN client closes and the uninstall never completes. I can replicate the same behavior if i start the script from a non elevated command prompt on the test machine.

The VPN application is set to run for system and not user.

I've tried to kill the process in the script but the script never fails and just hangs there until it times out (same behavior as a non elevated command prompt)

This is my Uninstall operation on the old VPN client: powershell.exe -noprofile -executionpolicy bypass -file .\Uninstall.ps1

Any help would be appreciated.

The first two parts work fine but the last part just hangs on the users machine, any tips ?

I have tested this command line on the actually pc by navigating to the directory using command prompt and running the below command and all works fine.

the command line i have in the task sequence is:

cmd.exe "c:\drivers\hotkey\setup.exe" /SP- /VERYSILENT /NORESTART /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES

any help would be appreciated

SCCM 2012 Software Center remembered user apps

Hi

Most of our packages are advertised to all users, only a few are advertised to machines. When a new user 'A' opens the Software Center only the packages advertised to the machine appear in the list with a status of available.

When I login as a User 'B' that has previously installed packages they appear as installed in the Software Center list, as expected.

When I re image the machine and reset the user B's profile and login as User B the applications appear in Software Center as available.

User Affinity is turned off, How can I ensure these Applications don't re appear in Software Center?

Thanks

Ian

Exclude certain users from deployment

We are going to deploy IE 11 for users in our domain. there is a group of users that we need to keep them using the old IE for some reasons.  Should i deploy the package to all users and exclude the group which contains the old ie users or should i deploy the package for all computers and exclude a collection of old ie computers.

Also if i deploy to users collection and two users use the same machine , will the IE11 be installed for both or just the targeted one

My consideration is that these 70 users must stay at old IE versions.

Thanks

SCCM: automatical remove App-V package within a connection group

Hi,

Please see https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/83ae85d7-3be0-41dc-99ec-bba4b47db9ea/remove-appv-package-but-appv-gui-says-in-use-even-after-reboot?forum=mdopappv

I need to (automatically) remove an App-V Office 2013 package which is part of a connection group. Therefore I add the pc's to a colection to which an uninstall is triggered. This connection group contains an Outlook plugin and Proofing tools.
I tried to remove it powershell-based but it does not want to be removed. I probably need to remove the connection group first but howto do that (there is no option to do this within sccm)?

Please advise.

SCNotification.exe

Hi

Can anyone explain what SCNotification.exe process is used for and what starts that processes. We are running “Remote Desktop Services” and have like 50 processes started, one for every user logged on and every process takes about 24MB memory. Is it possible to disable the process on specific collection?

Deploying/using a superseded application

Hi,

We are depoying Office 2016 to a pilot group. For that, we created an application of Office 2016 with supersedence of 3 applications in an application group: Office 2013 App-V, Outlook plugin App-V and Proofing tools App-V.

We now want to deploy this application to some testpc’s before deploying to the pilot group.

So my question now: the supersedence has no impact on already deployed applications (as long as the Office 2016 is not deployed to them), correct? Iow, people with App-V 2013 won’t have their applications uninstalled and we still can install Office  2013 App-V (even when it’s superseded). Just want to make sure.
