Relatively simple application deployment requirement

I need to deploy a word document and get it to open on a schedule.  I created a script to copy the document and create a scheduled task to open the document on a schedule.

I get it to deploy and open the first time, it doesn't seem to follow what I requested in the scheduled job and it seems after execution, that the  scheduled task is deleted.  I need it to persist to run again later and several more times.

Utilising Application Detection Method Results to Control Collection Membership

I have created an application with a detection method that works fine.

I have created a collection query that should show machines with the above Application  installed

I have achived this using a query for Application Client State - AppModelName and used the ID from the app, and Application Client State - Compliance State = 1. However I do not see all the devices in the collection that have the app installed.

I have created some more queries, showing different Compliance States and have some machines with state = 2 and some =4.

What do 0, 1, 2, 4 and 6 indicate?

Best approch to uninstall office 2010 and upgrade to Office 2013 in one deployment

Hello All

I created a package in sccm 2012 to remove office 2010 and a separate package to install office 2013. Now I know I can use the feature to run one program before the other but I think a reboot may be required after uninstalling Office 2010 before the Office 2013 installation can start? Does this seem off base? It would be pretty disruptive to our users if this is the case

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Application Deployment failures

I am asking for some help.  I seem to be missing something but can't find what it is.

I am trying to make some very simple applications or packages.  I have been concentrating on applications but having only limited success.

This is using Windows 2012R2 SCCM on mostly Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit clients.  The applications are very simple at this point.  Batch files work but for some reason I can't just copy the one line batch command into the application and get it to work.  It always returns with "failed" and I can't find the application in any of the log files on the client or server that give any indication what is failing.  Right now I am just calling the batch file and it fails...after it downloads from the distribution point and installs.  In this case it is actually uninstalling a previous product and the next application will be the installer for the upgraded version so they will be chained but first I have to get them working and I am not seeing a connection.  The applications and package are so simple there should be no issue with working.  When I tried to copy the one line batch command into the command string it fails after downloading from the dp.  The batch command is:

"%~dp0setup.exe" -s -f1"%~dp0unsetup.iss" -f2"%Temp%\Removal.log"

The command works if run from the run box on the client or when the batch file is called from the public share but fails when called via sccm.  The application is given system rights.  The application is available (at this point) and is present for device collections as well as some user collections.  The application is downloaded from the dp and run locally on the client.

My coworkers seem to have the same issue as they all just call batch files but that does not help me with more complicated applications if we can't even get a simple one line command to actually work.  I have done a lot of looking online for a step by step but I have not seen anything that I have not done.

Thank you for your time and help.

Applications stuck on "Waiting to Install" - Stumped!

Hello all -

I have a very strange problem that I can't seem to find an answer to. We recently upgraded our server from 2008 to 2012, and then to R2 and SCCM 2012 to R2 as well. Previously, we would deploy an image to a computer, and the Client would automatically install, and within about 45min - 1.5 hours all of the software would install automatically.

After the R2 install, we had a new computer that needed to be imaged. No changes to the workflow were made since this process last worked. I installed the image, and came back the next day to find no software was installed. Everything was sitting at "Downloading 0%".

I messed around with some settings in my IIS (I originally couldn't reach the application website, and thought that may be part of the problem), uninstalled and reinstalled the client a few times, and suddenly everything started installing again. It all worked perfectly.

However, I decided to try imaging a test machine to see if I could replicate the problem. Sure enough, as soon as the client installs and finds applications, they are stuck at "Waiting to Install". I've dug through the logs, and can't seem to find much, although there are quite a few logs to look through. Even weirder - if I uninstall the client and reinstall it, and then wait for a while (usually overnight), I'll come back to all of the applications installed normally!

I've redistributed all of the applications (90+) to our distribution server. No errors there.

I've turned off pre-staged content in the distribution settings. We had it on, but were not using it (we only have one server, which is also the distribution point). No change.

I even went so far as to make a new image, completely devoid of any installed programs. No Change.

I made a new copy of the Configuration Manager Client and deployed the new version with the clean image. No change.

If I open C:\Windows\CCMCache, I can see all of the programs, files, and installers listed there. It seems like it's downloaded everything and ready to go, but it's waiting forsomething to finish before starting to install. But what, I don't know.

I do not use SCCM for Windows Updates, so it's not waiting for software updates. I've tried restarting a few times, no change.

Where should I look? What logs?

Software Center deployment - Waiting to install

Hi.

I have a little issue with deploying a Task Sequence (TS) to my computers.
It is a TS that should run on a Collection where it shall reboot the computers that appear in that specific collection, every night.
Schedule:

The collection I’m going to deploy it to, has a query that checks when the computer was rebooted last time. We have an issue in our environment that users usually just lock their computers.

My problem is, that the deployment status in software center says: Waiting to install.

I tried to figure it out by searching the logs…

What I think might cause this situation, but still without any answers:
Error initializing policy environment variables. Code 0x8007000e             TSAgent             24.06.2013 10:30:16        3752 (0x0EA8)

File detection method not working on some clients

All deployments with "File detection" method failure on one machine. Seams that SCCM have no access to C:\ to check if file exist (it does).

The machine is an old one being "reused" with the same name.

Remove-CMDeployment does not work for Apps without content!?

Hi All,

I'm currently removing a lot of application deployments via Powershell.

I'm stuck with around 150 deployments that fail with:

Object Reference not set to instance of an object.

I've confirmed that the deployments and the relevant CI_ID's exist.

The only think that is the same for all 150 deployments is that they are for Applications which do not have any content... i.e just calling cmd.exe or a command within the system, or acting as a stub installer...

Is there a workaround for this?

Is there any client policies to pause the reboot countdown when the PC is locked

Hi,

Is there any client settings to pause the reboot countdown when the PC is locked in SCCM software center 2012?

Removing a user application from his software center

$

Hi,

Quick question to see if this is actually possible: We have an application set to available in the software catalog to users without the need of approval. The user can then request to install the software, which then puts the information into the software center locally.

At a future date, this user decides that he has no more needs for this application, and decides to remove it. Now, the software appears as available in the software center, but he does not want to see it there anymore.

Is there a way to remove that software from his software center without actually removing the application from SCCM altogether? (The software may not be useful to said user, but it is still being used by others)

Thanks!

Applications with two deployment types makes uninstall button in software center "greyed" out.

Hi

SCCM 2012 R2 running on Windows server 2012 with Windows 7 clients.

We are publishing applications to users that are available (not required), so that they can be downloaded from the application catalog web site. We have som applications that needs more then one deployment type (different pre requirements depending on OS architecture) and when I create two deployment types for one Application the uninstall button in Software center is greyed out? If i remove one of the deployment types so there is just one, well then the Uninstall button is available again.

An example is Itunes. I publish one Itunes application to the store that has two deployment types, one for X86 and another for X64 with requirments on OS architetcure. the correct version gets installed but the uninstall button is not possible to use. If i remove one of the deployment types then the deployment button is not greyed out.

Is this a bug?

Thanks everyone.

Can't Select Deployments Options and Right click menu doesn't appear

This one is just weird, and it only started happening the other day. But now when I try to select a deployment (Software Updates or Application Deployment), all of the options are greyed out almost as if its working at something. When I try to right click the deployment also nothing.

Has anyone seen this before. Any idea how I should troubleshoot this issue?

Thanks,

Bill

This not a  Secondary Site issue  because we don't use them.

Application Catalog Error

The security information for this application could not be verified

This only happens for a few endpoints but not others

I have uninstalled the client and re-installed the client  same error

Delete the Cert and readd  same error.

How to perform uninstall deployment ?

hey guys

rather silly question

But how on earth do you perform an uininstall task or deployment of an application that you have deployed out using hidden and do not sure in software center rules

When I try to to start the deploy wizard, I know theres a drop down box to choose which action to install or uninstall, but before i get to that stage I get an error telling me the package is already deployed out to that collection

but what if I need to roll-back ? and uninstall it off that collection ?

Software Center show application stuck at Installing

Greetings,

This has happened a few times now over the last couple of weeks. At first I thought it was just a once-off bug, but it keeps coming back and I can't see any patterns to identify the cause or trigger.

Sometimes when I start a Deployment from the Software Center the Status gets stuck at "Installing" and never moves beyond that. It has happened for OSD task sequences as well as Package/programs. In both cases the same Deployment works on other machines, or has worked on this same machine previously. It's not always the same programs, and there seems to be no particular pattern I can find to cause it.

Restarting the SMS Agent doesn't resolve, it just comes up as "Installing" again after the agent has restarted. I've tried clearing the adverts from the client and no difference, restarting the computer also makes no difference... it just comes back as "Installing"

If I remove the computer from the deployment, it dissapears from the Software Center, and when I add the deployment back again it re-appears in Software Center as "Installing" again.

Doing a client repair (ccmrepair) doesn't fix it. Doing a client re-install (with always re-install) doesn't fix it either. I have to completely remove the existing client and reinstall to clear the problem, but that makes the client then appear as a completely new device in CM12 so that's not a very reasonable resolution.

The only log entry I can find that seems to indicate an error is in execmgr.log where an entry saying "OnContentAvailable invalid request GUID handle" appears several times. I have no idea what it means. Running the same deployment on another computer works fine.

Clients are all Windows7 SP1 32bit.

One this one client there is issues installing any software. All software stand as "past due - will be retired" - If I click on more info it stand the following

The software change returned error code 0xffff0000 (-65536)

Can anyone help ?

SCCM Batch File To Run Powershell Command

I am trying to run a powershell script from a batch file via SCCM client. Basically the batch file will copy a PS1 file to the c:\temp directory of the targeted workstation and call the PS file. However we can get the files copied to the c:\temp directory but the PS file never seems to be ran. I am including the scripts below. Does anyone see an reason why this would not run.

This is the batch file to copy the files as needed.

@echo off
xcopy "clearcache.ps1" "c:\Temp\" /i
powershell.exe set-executionpolicy unrestricted
powershell.exe -NoLogo -NonInteractive -NoProfile -command C:\Temp\clearcache.ps1
powershell.exe set-executionpolicy restricted
REM Return exit code to SCCM
exit

This is the powershell script.

$limit = (Get-Date).AddDays(-2)
$path = "c:\windows\ccmcache"

# Delete files older than the $limit.
Get-ChildItem -Path $path -Recurse -Force | Where-Object { !$_.PSIsContainer -and $_.CreationTime -lt $limit } | Remove-Item -Force -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue | out-file c:\temp\clearcache.txt

# Delete any empty directories left behind after deleting the old files.
Get-ChildItem -Path $path -Recurse -Force | Where-Object { $_.PSIsContainer -and (Get-ChildItem -Path $_.FullName -Recurse -Force | Where-Object { !$_.PSIsContainer }) -eq $null } | Remove-Item -Force -Recurse -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue

Required apps stuck at "Past due - will be installed"

Hi all,

If this is in the wrong forum, please let me know.

I am running a SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 CU2 (was CU1 until last night) on Server 2012 R2. I have looked through the logs on the local client machines. After the machine is imaged, there are 4 applications that are required and 1 update. These app are stuck at "Past due - will be installed" and they never get installed. Not after the image or later during the maintenance hours. The machines have been left on for days and they are not getting them.

On the local machine, I have looked at AppEnforce.log, CAS.log, CITaskMgr.log. I see no errors in the logs for the apps.

In the Default Client Settings, "Additional software managers the deployment of applications and software updates" is set to no. All other client settings are not set to change that to a yes. I have tried setting an app to a specific past date for the install instead of As Soon As Possible. And nothing seems to kick it back in gear.

We have been having this issue for about 3 weeks now and I cannot seem to figure out what is happening. I did add some exceptions for AV last week but that was after we have the problem.

The only other thing I can think of it that we switched servers for content. We have 1 server that we used to use for application packaging and moved all the content over to another server. The new server has all the same permissions as the old server. Share and NTFS. In the app settings, the app team has moved the references from the old server to the new server. As this is just a repository for the initial setup of the apps in SCCM and they are then copied to the cache on the MP then distributed out to the DP's, I just don't think this is the issue.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you

Charles
