Install Office 2016 with language packs

$

Hi,

I would like to deploy Office 2016 using SCCM 2012 R2, and have it installed in 2 languages.

So here is steps I followed:

I copied the English install source to the SCCM share.

I created the msp file and added it to "updates" folder.

I copied source files from the second language to the same source folder.

I have also created a file config.xml in the folder proplus.ww .

The xml file has lines as follow:

<Configuration Product="ProPlus">

<Display Level="none" CompletionNotice="no" SuppressModal="yes" AcceptEula="yes" />
<AddLanguage Id="match" ShellTransform="yes"/>
<AddLanguage Id="en-us" />
<AddLanguage Id="fr-fr" />

</Configuration>

However, when I run the install, I get a wizard prompt asking for choosing either Office 2016 in English. Or 3 other options for french Visio, french office...

Is there anything I am missing here?

I appreciate any help.

Thanks

Script deployment - cache size too small

I have a cmd installation script.  Nothing needs to be downloaded to the client in order for the cmd script to function and install the software.  However, I am getting cache size too small when I try to deploy it.  Where do I indicate to the application/deployment to not utilize the cache?

Perhaps I need to move the cmd script outside the source files folder so it only sees a folder with one file in it.

Difference between Delta & Full Discovery on Active Directory Group Discovery

$

In our environment, we use AD Groups to deploy packages in SCCM2012 R2. If a new workstation is added to a group, will that be discovered by delta discovery or Full Discovery?.
Q2, If a new group is added for a new application, will it be discovered by Full or Delta Discovery?. Our environment has full discovery once every day and delta runs once every 5 minutes.

Thanks in advance.

Difference between Scheduled and Incremental updates on Collections

$

In our SCCM2012 R2 SP1 environment, we have nearly 5242 Collections enabled for scheduled updates every 4 hours. As per my understanding, Incremental updates cannot be turned ON for all these collections (I have read about a 200 collection limit but increased to 1000+ in SCCM2012 R2)

Is running a Full Schedule every 4 hours the same as running Incremental updates every 4 hours?, I find very little difference in the mechanism between the 2 update methods;

Any information will be much appreciated.

SCCM 2012 R2 deployment detection methods are not working anymore with windows management engine 5.0

$

Hello community

I'm a SCCM 2012 R2 administrator and i've worked out a script, which automatically integrates applications into SCCM (so that you don't have all the klicks anymore, the script is very customized)

If the deploymenttype is a scriptinstaller the application is detected by a simple powershellcode which is looking for a key of our paket-branding.

The script might look like this:

if (test-path "HKLM:\System\COMPANYNAME\Adobe Flash Player 22 NPAPI_Adobe Systems Incorporated_22.0.0.209") {write-host "Installed"}

This detection script is generated while my application integration script runs, and filled in automatically.

However i worked out, that this method worked very well with powershell version 3.0 and the clientsettings\computer agent\Powershell execution policy "Bypass"

But with Windows Management Engine 5.0 it's not working anymore.

I've found out that the line "Powershell.exe -executionpolicy bypass -file PSFILE.ps1" is not working anymore with PS Version 5.0, with powershell 3.0 it's working fine.

i guess that's because they stuffed this "security issue" in powershell.

On the client the AppDiscovery.log shows that the discovery method could not run because the script is not signed.

Is there a possiblity to set an executionpolicy for different scopes via GPO?
I mean like to say for the SYSTEM-Account it's bypass and for the Users it's still "AllSigned"?

or do you have other ideas how to avoid the problem expect set the "RemoteSigned" or digitally sign the detectionscript while my application-integration script is running (because this would be really annoying).

Thanks for your advice.

Best regards,

Ben

Is it possible for users to uninstall applications via the apps catalog ?

Our users are currently using the application catalog to install their apps.

Is there a way we can also simply allow them to uninstall the application, maybe via a custom uninstall tab ?

Unable to Convert Package to Application

hi,

Im in the process of changing a number of MSI Packages to Applications.

One package in particular is Adobe CS6. Works fine as a deployment package and installs OK as it should, but when trying to setup as an application (using the same MSI) i get the error below when trying to import the settings;

Import Failed.

The Specified path. file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters and the directory name must be less than 248 characters.

I'm sure the path is OK as it's the same path currently being used by the PACKAGE.

Any suggestions?

Supercedence for Patched/Updates doesn't work

Hi,

I have a question about the supercedence. Following Szenario(just an example):

I have 3 Testclients, one with Acrobat Reader 15.006.30033, one with 15.006.30198 and one without Acrobat installed.

Now I create one application for 15.006.30033 and one for 15.006.30198 with a supercedence to 30033 and deploy both (same situation when 30033 is already in charge). Both deployments are required for all 3 testclients which are part of a securitygroup for Adobe Acrobat reader deployments. Detection is for 30033 the MSI code and for 30198 the MSI version.

Client 1 with 30033 work fine, the softwarecenter see there is a new update for arcobat and everything works great.

Client 2 works also fine, the softwarecenter show the right, already installed acrobat.

Client 3 fails. Because the msp only works when the msi is installed (of course). So, I tried to create a Dependency for 30033 to be sure the msi is always installed, but if I do that nothing happens (also at the other clients when I take the snapshot before the updates).

Does anyone can show me my mistake?

Thank you!

Past Due - Will be Installed/Retried

$

Hi

We are running Sccm 2012 R2 SP1 (Clients with CU1) at the moment, but we also have hade similar issues before SP1 installation (With R2).

The issue is that some applications and/or software updates (Microsoft) will not be installed on some clients. In Software Center status Past Due - Will be Installed/Retried. If I manually click retry or Install it installs just fine, but SCCM will never try to launch the installation automatically. Stuck in "Past Due" state forever.

I've read a lot about this and found an 2 year old post herehttp://blogs.msdn.com/b/rslaten/archive/2013/11/26/past-due-applications-not-installing-in-sccm-2012.aspx

I've tried to select a specific deadline date/time under deployment --> Scheduling instead of using the default "As soon as possible". Sometimes this does the trick (I specified a date/time in the past). This doesn't work on all applications.

I haven't tried the PS script (to automatically update deadline time by 1 min).Ths will do the same I manually did, but will do automatically on all applications right?

As I mentioned, only issues sometimes with some applications/some pcs.

is this a "bug" still in R2 SP1 or have I missed anything?

How to make SCCM try to launch/retry automatically?

Regards

Tony

Application install is asking for admin credentials when installing

Hello all.  I have been struggling with this particular install for months.  I finally opted to build a batch script and try it that way.  It now successfully installs.....sorta.  When I click install in the application catalog, it downloads and kicks off the script.  It then immediately requests an admin user id and password.  If I enter one in, the application installs with no problem.  I have the package set to install whether or not the user is logged in, so it should be using the admin account to run the application correct?  If I can just get past this last hiccup, I'll finally be able to knock this last bit of software off of my list.  I appreciate any help you can provide.

SCCM 2012 Detection method question

$

Hey all.  I am trying to configure a software for deployment through SCCM.  The install works perfectly, but I'm having some trouble with the detection method.  The software is an exe, so I can't use the windows installer method.  I set it up to use the file setting method.  I located the folder that is installed in program files (x86) and tried to use that but it still shows that the install failed.  I picked a random file in the folder and I'm still getting a failure after the installation completes.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

Creating a user logged on or off Global Condition

$

Does anyone have some ideas on how to go about creating a Global Condition for whether a user is logged in or not?  Not a particular user, but ANY user.

I'm creating a single Application with two Deployment Types. Deployment Type 1 would be an unattended install and only run if the user is logged off.  Deployment Type 2 would be an attended install and only run if a user is logged on and be set to display a progress bar.  I am going to use the Requirements tab of each deployment type to determine if a user is logged on or off.

In SCCM 2007 this was easy with Packages, I could set it to run no matter if the user was logged on or off and just tick the box to allow user interaction.  Since I always use /passive for MSI, it was effective because it would run fine no matter if the user was logged on or off.  As I'm sure everyone knows, the "allow user interaction" box is now grayed out when choose to run "whether or not a user is logged in"

I wish Microsoft would change it back to the old way.

Deploying Java 8 Update 111 via SCCM 2012 R2 using msi installer

$

Hey there,

I'm trying to deploy Java 8 Update 111 using SCCM 2012 R2 and the extracted msi file. I tried before with Java 8 Update 101.

I want to remove all previous versions of Java using the install switch "REMOVEOUTOFDATEJRES=1". That worked fine with the .exe version of Java. What doesn't work was always my detection rule on the msi product code. (I also tried detecting the Java installation on File System or registry but none worked as good as using msi product code with msi installation of Java)

Every time I got an error saying the application was not detected after installation.

I want to know if there is a way deploying a Java msi removing all versions of Java that are under the Oracle security baseline.

Maybe one of you has the same issue?

Please ask if you need any further information.

Thanks to everyone :)

Deploying Office 365 ProPlus - detection method failing

$

I am attempting to deploy Office 365 ProPlus with SCCM 2012 R2 using the steps described here:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn708063.aspx

I have followed the steps exactly, to the letter. Office installs successfully on the client PC but SCCM fails to detect the installation (shows as 'Past due - will be installed' in Software Centre), and AppEnforce.log shows 'Application not discovered' after the install.

I think there's something wrong with the Detection Method Microsoft have described in the article. The one I have defined is an exact match for what they have show in the article (see screenshot below).

Appreciate any help that can be offered.

Hi,

i have been trying to deploy office 365 Pro Plus through sccm 2012.

but after sometime received the message from software center as as installation failed.The software change returned error code 0x87D00324(-2016410844).I have checked the application on client machine,i could find the installation is successful,all components for office 365 has been installed.All working fine also.But the deployment status shows error as i mentioned earlier.

first my detection rule was file type,at that time also i could install office 365 ,but received same error message.

then i changed detection method to registry,HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\O365ProPlusRetail - en-us.

but the condition is same.same error in status and all the components for office 365 got installed.

AppEnforce.log  attached for reference.

"Available" applications randomly installing themselves without end-user triggering

$

Hi, I'm running SCCM 2012 SP1 CU2.

I have a problem where a long list of "available" applications will install themselves on a workstation without any end-user action.  I'm getting reports of this happening 2 or 3 times per week in an environment of 14,000 workstations (XP and W7).

A couple minutes after a user logs on, between 30 and 70 applications get installed in quick succession.  I can confirm that these apps do NOT have a "required" deployment type; they are all "available".

It is definitely SCCM doing it, as I can see all the .MSIs in \windows\ccmcache.

AppDiscovery.log (numerous similar messages):

ActionType - Install will use Content Id: Content_c758362d... + Content Version: 1 for AppDT "application 1 (*.msi file)"
ActionType - Install will use Content Id: Content_da9231a7... + Content Version: 1 for AppDT "application 2 (*.msi file)"
ActionType - Install will use Content Id: Content_e24e32b7... + Content Version: 1 for AppDT "application 3 (*.msi file)"

DCMAgent.log (numerous similar messages):

Job::SetupJob - Add assignment (DEP-XYZ20240-ScopeId_8FB9C6D8...

CDCMAgentJob::PopulateCIsFromAssignment - [SKIPPING] CI policy Id :ScopeId_8FB9C6D8...

All the applications that are getting installed are Applications (not packages), deployed as "available", that are set to install as the user, and are targeted to a large machine collection.

We have about 70 deployments like this, but I've seen variation where between 30 and 70 of these apps will get installed.  Each incident will install a different subset of these 70 apps.

We've been cutting over our legacy packages to applications over time.  The problem was first reported about a month ago.

Ideas?

Thanks,

Nick.

Apply .MSP patch and prompt for reboot

$

I am trying to update Adobe Acrobat XI by applying the .MSP update to an already installed app.    I have run the msiexec /p and it is ending with a return code 3010. I am looking for a way to have config mgr pop up the system restart timer.

I was going to try a task sequence to install the package (.MSP) and then trigger a computer restart command and have a condition step to read the registry for key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Session Manager - PendingFileRenameOperations.  This reg key gets created if software installs requiring a restart.  So if it doesn't exit 3010, I don't want to trigger a reboot.

Am I thinking about this wrong?

What I see in the smsts.log is that it doesn't find the reg key because it is looking for  REG_SZ and the key that I am looking for is a REG_MULTI_SZ.

Appreciate any wisdom!

J
