SCCM for Mac Installed Applications query?

$

Hi,

We're using SCCM 2012 for PCs and Macs and generally, it all seems to be working ok.

I've made a package to install drivers, set up printers and get print presets set up (the package is created using Packages).  The installer seems to work fine as the printers and settings all work.  The issue is that after it's installed, nothing appears in Resource Explorer under Hardware/Installed Applications to say that it's there so some Macs that already have the package are being prompted to install it again.

Where does SCCM for Mac get the Installed Application data from and where is it stored?  If I can find this then I can hopefully change the package to include this information.

thanks,

SCCM installation and reboot behaviors

How do I adjust the settings in SCCM 2012 R2 to reflect this:

Objective for PCs:
- Evaluate daily
- Make updates available ASAP to Management Server
- installation of updates once every 2 weeks on a Saturday only after hours from 8 PM to midnight

- message will prompt user to reboot their own computer, if not will reboot on its own after hours everyday after 9 PM

Objective for Servers:
- Evaluate daily
- Make updates available ASAP to Management Server
- installation of updates on third Sunday of every month from 1 AM to 12 PM
- reboot Server immediately after update on that Sunday

Guys

I suck doing query's and it was not easy to google this specific.   I need a query or 2 querys, to let me know which computers have office (doesnt matter any office version) 32 bits, and which 32 bits.  Im going to do a deployment and i need to be able to identify this collections first.

Report usage (installed applications/packages) per softwarer?

Hi,

I'd like to have a report of which applications are used and how many are used?
F.e. Adobe Acrobat - 124 devices, Office 2013 - 23 devices

We have as well packages, applications as app-v packages.
Please advise would suit the best.

Note: we would like to link the user to the devices too (now we deploy to computers only, NOT the users and do not have user affinity implemented).

Please advise.

Is there a "Task Sequence"-like action for pre-installed new clients?

$

0

In my (limited) understanding, a Task Sequence runs as part of an OS Deployment and can install apps (and do other things) before the computer presented as ready.  Is there any way to do something similar (a set of actions before anything else) immediately after a client "checks-in" for the first time?

We have systems that are not deployed (e.g. pre-imaged by a scientific equipment vendor) on which the SCCM client is installed (via GPO) on first boot after we join the computer to the domain.  I would like to use SCCM to install some additional software ASAP before anything else happens.  I.E. I want applications x, y, and z to install (and/or scripts to run) before domain users get an option to install anything else, not whenever SCCM "gets around to it".  Other applications and updates can install or be advertised in the normal timeframe, but these need to be pushed right away.

Possible (via SCCM), or do I need to fall back to GPO for this?

Thanks.

SCCM Software Metering not working on Endpoints

Hi.

Currently our software metering does not appear to be working. It is configured on the console side. It appears on the workstations something is not working properly.

In the mtrmgr.log file I see the following messages on a constant loop.

InitiatePrepDriver - OpenSCManager Failed with error 8007045b mtrmgr 2015-12-09 11:07:03 AM 11096 (0x2B58)
Failed to create instance of CLSID_ProcessEventProvider, error 80040154 mtrmgr 2015-12-09 11:07:03 AM 11096 (0x2B58)
Failed to create instance of CLSID_SWMtrManager, error 80040154 mtrmgr 2015-12-09 11:07:03 AM 11096 (0x2B58)

In the SWMTRReportGen.log I see the following:

No usage data found to generate software metering report SWMTRReportGen 2015-10-12 2:04:56 AM 6428 (0x191C)

It did appear to work at some point until we did the SCCM upgrade to the current version. So it appears the metering on the machine is failing to start.

Any thoughts on what we can try on the client side?

trying to deploy ie11 with sccm

$

I built the ie11 installer using the ieak11 app on a pc that is the exact same as the ones I'm going to deploy to

I tried deploying with the msi, but even though I have the prereq's added using the IEAK the installer still wants to get out to the web, since I do web filtering by the user it can't get out and fails every time.

I tried using the exe that was created using the IEAK and if I run the exe as an admin it works no problem

once I put it as a package in sccm 2012 sp1 and go to a client and open the software center I click it, it downloads but never does anything past that, the IE11_main.log shows zero activity from sccm

the IE version never changes and the install goes on forever

I've searched everywhere. How is there not a doc that shows how to update a browser using Microsoft own client management suite to Microsoft own machines, this should be a no brainer but from what I have been reading all day on the web a ton of people have this issue

so if anyone know how's to get this working that would be most helpful

Status column in PKGStatus Table is changing to 4 (retrying).after successfully prestaging the content.

Hi All,

We have a package "XXXXXXXX1" on large number of DP's, we have updated distribution points with latest version. In which more than 500 are successful and few are failed, so on failed DP's we have we have copied the prestaged content of package and extracted.

Before extracting the content we have removed the files partially copied files from content library in failed DP's.

The prestagecontent.log shows the package is successfully extracted and the state message is sent to site.

On the same day checked the pkgstatus table in SCCM database and found the sourceversion column is updated with latest version and the status is change to 3 (package installed).

After a couple of days found the sourceversion of the package remained same (latest version) but the status is changed to 4 (retrying). And also the latest version of package is available under content library in DP.

In distmgr.log can see a new status update is received to update the status as 0 first and then 4 for the package in PKGstatus table, and it processed successfully.

Request you all to help me on this issue.

Thanks,

Srivastcha Sai

Application deployment failure with Error Code 0x80040E37 (-2147217865)

Scratching my head on this one.

I'm deploying an application to a group of machines but for some reason they are failing with the error in the subject.

The application is being detected for installation in the AppDiscovery.log and it appears to be attempting to enforce the application installation:

ActionType - Install will use ContentID:blahblahblah + ContentVersion: 1 for AppDT "Application...."

The application content gets downloaded into the CCMCACHE director.

But things grind to half after that.  There is no entry in the AppEnforce.log showing the installation being executed.  And normally this particular app will log a file in C:\windows\logs\Software so I can see what's going on with the actual installation itself but that is not happening either so I know that the actual application installation is never getting executed even though it appears the SCCM client is good to go.

I have around 40 clients doing this so it's not a one off.  They all throw "Deployment Failed" with Error Code 0x80040E37 (-2147217865) in the deployment monitoring space.

I've scoured all of the client logs to try and find a trace of that error and can't find it so it must be some kind of generic "Sorry, I don't know what happened!" error from the SCCM client?

Does anyone have any pointers for where to look next?

Problem Deploying Applications with System Context

$

I have two applications, Wordperfect x3 and Worldox GX3 that I am having trouble deploying as an application because they fail with access denied under system context. Wordperfect is a Setup.exe from the normal CM share and Worldox is an exe that has to run from the server it is running from. I currently have them installing as a task sequence so I can install with admin credentials but I would like to deploy as an application so I can supersede, etc. The other issue is that the task sequence only runs when a user is logged in which I don't like. Is that normal behavior?

Why would some applications fail with System context?

install script works fine until SCCM runs it

$

I'm trying to put together a deployment package (advertised application) for ancient software for which the original installer won't work (16-bit). We have a custom built PoSh script to do the action of the install (as best as we could figure out).  It generally works without a problem and all the machines onto which we manually install are happy.

When I have SCCM run the same script for deployment, SCCM is reporting a failure.  The logs show an exitcode generated by the script (which has $ErrorActionPreference = 'Stop'), and the log for the install script reports:

ERROR: Cannot bind argument to parameter 'Path' because it is an empty string.

The error is referring to the following lines at the end of the PowerShell script:

$RegPath = 'HKLM:\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\XP, XPREP, XSHELL'
New-Item $RegPath -Value 'C:\\SAXI\\SXTL\\shelxtl.EXE' -Force | Write-Debug
$RegValue = 'C:\\SAXI\\SXTL;C:\\SAXI\\SXTL'
New-ItemProperty -Path $RegPath -Name 'Path' -Value $RegValue -force | Write-Debug

This error does not appear when the script is run by an administrator -- only when SCCM runs it.  I know SCCM runs the script as SYSTEM, but there is nothing about those lines that should fail for SYSTEM (e.g. a registry key in HKCU).

Also, the install actually works, and the software runs fine.  It's just SCCM that is claiming failure.  Eventually, it reruns the (file system) detection method and Software Center changes the "failed" message to "Installed", but until that occurs, my users are going to complain.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what is happening and/or how to fix it?

Thanks.

Managing reboot with SCCM

Hi,

With SCCM 2012 R2

I have some difficulties to set the reboot timer of SCCM. I would like to make it shorter and prevent user to delay the reboot. I would like the countdown time to popup right in the middle of the screen.

I did some test but I am believing, I miss something.. :(

SCCM 2012 - .Bat file not running CMD as administrator

Hello -

I'm trying to run a bat file package that copies a file to a folder in Program Files x86.  The bat file needs to run command prompt as admin.  When I push the file out it does not run as admin and fails.  I have the package set to run as admin but that doesn't work.  Is there a way to make command prompt elevate or is there a different way to get this file copied?  It's a dependency of a package to copy a license file.

Thanks

Chris

Error in deploying Office 2013 to users.

Morning,

I am running SCCM 2012 SP1 CU1 currently.

I have set up an "Available" deploy of Office 2013 through the application catalog for my users.  It is working for most but I have a few installs that resulted in the "This operation is not enabled on this platform" error code "0x80110449".  I did make sure it is enabled for all Win 7 and 8 clients.

What are the logs or places I can look to get more info about what went wrong?

package IE11 appears install on repport but not

Hi,

On SCCM 2012r2 I deploy package IE11 on several collection.

I see on several computer repport is not showing the correct information OR I don't understand really this repport.

The repport is :All system ressources for a specified pacjage and program deployment in a specified state.

It appears to be end successfully but IE11 is not installed on the computer. When we use package deployment, we can't validate with repport if the application is really installed ?

I try to find more information about this repport on the internet but didn't find anything...

I hope you'll be able to give me more information.

Package Duplication in ccmcache

I've always thought the local ccmcache dir maintained a single copy of a package even if it was deployed more then once. If I deploy the same exact package, say an Office installation, twice to a machine using two different deployments, should I see the client download another copy of the package?

Application Catalog roles - unable to install

The application portal was working previously when I had SP1 installed but we needed to upgrade to R2, which (AFAIA) went fine with no errors and the image deployment works fine.

Since then, the web application hasn't been working (Software Centre client still does) so I removed and re-added the two roles but I'm getting an error during the install...

I have .Net4.5.1, CU1 and MDT 2013 installed, also run the integration for MDT.

I've checked TechNet and many other sites and all the possible solutions fail.

I've tried installing the MSI manually and exits with the same error code as below.
